The "One Pagoda and Two Temples" refers to the Bodhi Pagoda, Darjilin Temple, and the Ten Thousand Buddha Temple. Darjilin Temple is a Tibetan Buddhist temple, while the Ten Thousand Buddha Temple is a Han Buddhist temple, blending Mongolian, Tibetan, and Han cultures. The Bodhi Pagoda is constructed of white marble and is accessible by stairs, but entry is prohibited. Darjilin Temple is a fusion of Han and Tibetan Buddhism. I personally found the temple to be tranquil and serene, with the occasional sounds of chanting and bells, and large and small prayer wheels. We allocated a day at the beginning and end of the trip to explore the city. However, if you're short on time, half a day should suffice to see the main attractions. National Highway 331 is the only way to get to the Genghis Khan Horse Post at Hulun Lake. The scenery along the way is stunning. The speed limit is 70 km/h, but some cars still sped by. At the time, I thought to myself: With such beautiful scenery, why drive so fast? Isn't the point of traveling to relax and unwind? From Manzhouli to the Genghis Khan Horse Post, there's a toll booth and a post station. The post station has restrooms and charging stations, but no shops.

After days of wandering the Hulunbuir Plateau, I arrived at the end of the grasslands and discovered the "sea"—Hulun Lake, which looks just like the ocean. I didn't visit any scenic spots, but instead followed a recommendation to visit the Genghis Khan Horse Post. Besides the free entrance fee, it also felt less commercial. Hulun Lake is one of China's four largest freshwater lakes. The Genghis Khan Horse Post is located on the lake's west bank. Legend has it that Genghis Khan once trained his troops here, tying his horses to pillars. It's over 90 kilometers from Manzhouli. The view is breathtaking, with a 360-degree angle! Perfect for taking photos! Some people by the lake were looking for something. It was an agate! I was lucky enough to find one! The water was crystal clear, with waves rolling past, truly reminiscent of the ocean! #HulunLake

Manzhouli, a small town with European-style architecture, was our accommodation on our way to Hulun Lake. The town boasts Beihu Park and Zhongsujin Street, where you can shop for Russian goods. Manzhouli also boasts the upscale Matryoshka Restaurant. The shops near the national border are quite expensive. Although they say duty-free, they are more expensive than those on Zhongsujin Street. The road to Hulun Lake is filled with boundless grasslands. Clouds in the sky and white sheep and cattle on the ground dot the blue sky and green land, creating a sense of vastness and freedom. We headed to the Genghis Khan Horse Post at Hulun Lake. There's no entrance fee, and there's a rest stop along the way (see photo) where you can use the restroom. You can urinate here first, as there are no restrooms at the post. Many people were digging for agate stones along the shores of Hulun Lake. There were many small pebbles along the shore. Hulun Lake is as vast as the ocean, yet it's an inland freshwater lake. Restaurant recommendation: Dasu BBQ near Beihu Park in Manzhouli. The barbecue, stir-fried vegetables, fried rice, and soup are all quite delicious. As for the internet-famous Luburi restaurant, I didn't bother waiting in line because it was too crowded.

Hailar Ancient City, also known as Lunbuir Ancient City, is located around Zhengyang Street in Hailar District, Hulunbuir City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. This ancient city was built by the Qing government to defend the northern border following the Treaty of Nerchinsk. It has now been largely rebuilt. It is now a tourist attraction offering sightseeing, leisure, shopping, dining, and accommodation. Here, you can admire the quaint architecture and rich historical atmosphere, and sample local delicacies. We arrived at the ancient city at night. In the square, local residents were performing dances, both for performances and for daily practice. The streets were bustling with street vendors and barbecue restaurants.
