The Uchikawa Canal, stretching approximately 3.5 kilometers, serves as an important waterway extending inland from Toyama Bay. Even today, rows of fishing boats can be seen moored along both sides of the canal. On the banks, you'll find old warehouses and residences of former Kitamaebune shipowners, creating a charmingly nostalgic streetscape. While the canal is stunning at dusk and nighttime, daytime offers a breathtaking view from the Naru-no-Ura Bridge, where you can see the Shinminato Bridge in the foreground and the majestic Tateyama Mountain Range in the background. The Fisherman's Market, located at Shinminato Fishing Port in Toyama Prefecture, is in a remote location close to the sea and looks like a tourist fish market. People come here specifically to eat the famous local red crabs, which are about the same size as snow crabs and are characterized by their rich soup. It is a specialty of the San'in coastline. There are many stalls in the tourist market that provide cooking services. I bought two red crabs to steam. The meat is so sweet and fresh, and the soup is even more delicious. There is no need to dip it in sauce at all. It’s great to just fish it out and cook it right away! There are also some special local products in the market, such as white shrimp ice cream? Very interesting. In terms of transportation, if you don’t drive, there are buses from Toyama Station that can take you directly there, or you can go to Gaogang and then change to the road railway, which takes about 40 minutes to get to Toshinminato Station, which is about 6 minutes’ walk, so it is basically quite convenient. #ToyamaTravel #ShinminatoMarket #RedChu Crab

The first one is the crab and scallop bowl, 2500 yen (with tea) at the shop on the left hand side inside Shinminato Kitto Market. The crab was really fresh, full of flavor, and the big scallops were plump and delicious 🦀😋 The second one is the shop in the 4th and 5th photos, Hamayaki to Ozake Isoaburi. This shop is about 8 minutes walk from Toyama Station. I had the Hamayaki and it was so delicious! The shellfish were packed with big pieces and very satisfying! Clams 680 yen, grilled turban shells 780 yen, grilled squid 550 yen 🦑 The taste was very good and the staff was very kind 💕 The third recommendation is Uodon-tei. I had 8 kinds of Toyama Bay seafood bowls 🐟 The price was about 2500 yen So much for such a low price! ? Shinminato Bridge is a very large and impressive bridge, and if the weather is good, it's the perfect location for a drive, and it was a pleasant experience to drive across.
