Cave Beach Views 🌊 at Batu Luang Beach
Ready for a scene-stealer sunset? Batu Luang Beach in Kuala Penyu, Sabah, Malaysia is famous for its otherworldly moss-covered rocks and picturesque seascape, making it a dream spot for photography lovers and sunset seekers alike!
Here’s your route for max impact: Arrive in the late afternoon and wander down to the beach through the iconic stone “cave” entrance. Your first insta-worthy shot is right from inside the cave, using the dramatic framing to highlight the sweeping shoreline and distant rocks.
Must-dos: Stroll along the soft sand and hunt for quirky tide pools among the green-cloaked boulders, these spots absolutely glow in late golden hour. As sunset nears, head down by the largest outcropping for the best panoramic views. If you luck out with moody skies or sunbeams bursting through the clouds, you’re in for some truly magical photos!
Top photo spots:
· Inside the cave looking out (natural frame vibes)
· Among the mossy rocks with the sea as your backdrop
· Low angle shots capturing sunset reflections in shallow waters
Tips: Wear sturdy sandals as the tidal rocks can get slippery, and check tide charts before visiting, some rock formations only reveal themselves at low tide. Bring a flashlight for the walk back if you stay till dusk.
Precaution: The cave and rocks can be slippery, especially after rain. So, watch your step! Tides can rise fast, so don’t get caught out too far.

Scenic Sipitang Views👀
Seaside Serenity & Satay Vibes at Esplanad Sipitang 🌊✨
This hidden coastal gem in Sipitang, Sabah, charms with its chill sea breeze, bustling satay stalls, and iconic street lamp scenes—perfect for a laid-back day by the water and local bites!
Recommended Route & Must-Do Experiences:
Start your stroll just beside the famous satay stalls—your taste buds will thank you! Wander along the waterfront esplanade to enjoy panoramic views of the South China Sea, soak up the lively local atmosphere, and watch fishermen at work. Don’t miss the row of coconut stalls nearby—fresh coconut water here just hits differently.
Top Insta-Worthy Photo Spot:
Look for the street lamp standing right by the sea—on a cloudy afternoon, the moody sky makes the perfect dramatic backdrop. Try capturing the lamp in the foreground with the endless sea behind for an authentic Sipitang vibe.
Practical Visiting Tips:
· Arrive in the afternoon for cooler temperatures and a vibrant street food scene.
· Most satay stalls start grilling by late afternoon and go until evening—don’t skip the beef or chicken skewers!
· Light rain is common—bring a light raincoat just in case, but umbrellas can be tricky with sudden seaside gusts.
· There’s limited shaded seating, so a hat and sunscreen are a good idea even on cloudy days.
Precautions:
The esplanade can get slippery after rain, especially near the edge—walk carefully. Keep valuables tucked away and be mindful of sudden weather changes along the waterfront.

Ready to explore Interior Division in style? 🚗💨 If you’re heading from Sabah to Labuan (or vice versa) and don’t want to mess around with car rentals, here’s my top hack: Just drive your own ride onto the RORO ferry and cruise across the bay. Super convenient and way less stress!
Must-See: MBK Menumbok 🍴
If you’re in Menumbok, you need to hit up MBK Menumbok Restaurant. It’s at Pekan Menumbok, Peti Surat 16, Jalan Kastam, 89768, Menumbok, Sabah. The local seafood is fresh and the vibe is low-key — perfect for fueling up before or after the ferry ride.
Personal Tip: Forget about the hassle of dropping off and picking up rentals in different cities. With the RORO ferry, you keep your own car and have freedom once you dock. Just check ferry schedules ahead and arrive 30 mins before boarding!
Getting Around:
The RORO (Roll-on, Roll-off) ferry is the lifeline for car travelers between Labuan and Sabah. Tickets can be bought at the port. Local taxis are available if you go car-free, but bringing your own wheels is a game-changer.
Food Tip:
Try the seafood dishes at MBK Menumbok—they’re famous for a reason! For quick meals, nearby stalls offer fried noodles and fresh coconut water.
Weather Hack:
Sabah’s tropical heat is real, so pack lightweight clothes, sunscreen, and always have bottled water handy.

Looking for something different in summer 🏝️
#summervacay
In Malaysia, it is different. But you can still feel the summer that is known as a rainy day or windy day 😄
This is one of the great places to stop by if you're driving from Sarawak/ Brunei heading to Kota Kinabalu. You can even plan to stay and have a relaxing summer short and simple holiday here. Enjoy the beach breeze and sandy walks. It is a really calming wind and waves. Just no word can be explained because it is different.

🌿🚤 Klias River Cruise Review: A Wild Borneo River Safari!
#cruiseholiday
📍 Best for: Wildlife lovers & firefly chasers!
Highlights:
✅ Proboscis monkey spotting – See these big-nosed primates swinging by the riverbank! 🐒
✅ Firefly spectacle – Thousands twinkling like Christmas lights in mangrove trees (magical at dusk!) ✨
✅ Local village visit – Optional stop for coconut snacks & handicrafts
Downsides:
⚠️ Long transfer (~2hrs from Kota Kinabalu) – Pack patience & motion sickness pills
⚠️ Buggy evenings – Mosquito repellent is a MUST 🦟
⚠️ Basic boats – No restrooms onboard (go before boarding!)
Pro Tips:
✔️ Book the afternoon+evening combo – Monkeys first, fireflies after dark
✔️ Bring binoculars – Wildlife can be shy
✔️ Wear neutral colors – Bright clothes scare animals
Verdict: 4.3/5 ⭐ (A unique Sabah adventure – just manage expectations!).
📸 #BorneoWildlife (Tours include dinner; avoid rainy season Nov-Feb) 🌊
Bonus: Spot crocodiles & kingfishers if you’re lucky! 🐊

🗿 Batu Luang: The Mysterious Rock Formation You’ve Never Heard Of (But Should!) 🌊
#kotakinabalutrip
Picture this: You’re cruising along Sabah’s coastline when suddenly—**BAM**—a giant, otherworldly rock formation rises from the sea like something out of *Pirates of the Caribbean*. Welcome to **Batu Luang**, one of Sabah’s most jaw-dropping (and least crowded) natural wonders!
### **First Impressions: "Wait… Is That a Dragon Egg?!"**
· **The rock:** A massive, wave-carved limestone monolith that looks photoshopped IRL
· **The water:** Electric blue crashing against ancient stone—pure drama
· **The vibe:** Like you’ve discovered a secret pirate landmark (where’s Jack Sparrow when you need him?)
### **The "Whoa" Moment: Low-Tide Exploration**
At low tide, you can **wade out to the base** of the rock (water waist-deep, so wear quick-dry shorts!). Look for:
· **Hidden tide pools** with neon sea slugs
· **Natural arches** carved by centuries of waves
· **Fossilized shells** embedded in the rock (nature’s ancient artwork)
### **Local Legend: The Cursed Lovers**
Fishermen swear this rock is actually **two petrified lovers** (a prince and commoner) turned to stone by a jealous sorcerer. At sunset, they say you can still hear whispers in the wind… 👀
### **Adventure Alert: Cliff Jumping (For the Brave!)**
Locals dare each other to leap off Batu Luang’s lower ledges into the deep channel beside it. Not for the faint-hearted—but the adrenaline rush is *next level*.
### **Must-Try: Fresh Coconut Pit Stop**
After all that exploring, hit the roadside stall for:
· **Kelapa muda** (young coconut) so sweet it tastes like dessert
· **Grilled corn** with spicy sambal (the perfect salty-sweet combo)
### **Quick Itinerary (For Maximum Adventure)**
🕙 **10AM** – Arrive at low tide (check tidal charts!)
🕚 **11AM** – Explore tide pools & rock formations
🕐 **1PM** – Picnic lunch on nearby boulders
🕒 **3PM** – Cliff jump or snorkel the channel
🕠 **5:30PM** – Sunset photos (golden hour magic!)
### **Pro Tips:**
· Wear **reef shoes** (those rocks are sharper than they look)
· Bring **waterproof phone case** (salt spray + electronics = 💀)
· Time your visit with **spring low tides** for best access
· *Verdict:** 10/10 feels like discovering your own private island—just don’t tell *too* many people!
· *Who’s up for an adventure? Drop your favorite hidden Sabah spots below! 👇**
· (P.S. If you hear those legendary whispers… maybe don’t answer them.)* 😉🌴

Klias Wetlands: A Paradise for Proboscis Monkeys and Fireflies
Hidden in the mysterious tropical jungle, the Klias Wetlands is a great place to see proboscis monkeys and fireflies thanks to its unique ecological environment and precious wildlife resources. Although it is far from the city, it is still a popular destination.
In the morning, when the sun shines on the pier, a faint tea fragrance fills the air. Here, you can enjoy a cup of authentic afternoon tea and feel the tranquility and beauty of time, as if time has slowed down. After a short break, we took a boat along the Klias River to explore the mysterious world of the mangroves.
The Klias River is like a green ribbon, winding through the dense mangroves. Flocks of birds soar over the river, silver leaf monkeys jump and play among the branches, and proboscis monkeys quietly drink and forage by the river. These precious animals bring endless vitality to this primeval forest.
As night falls, fireflies twinkle like stars in the mangroves, adding a romantic touch to the mysterious forest. The mangroves seem to have turned into a giant Christmas tree, with fireflies like decorative lights on the tree, adding endless poetry to the quiet night.
In such an environment, we can't help but be amazed by the magic of nature. The Klias Wetlands is not only an ecological treasure, but also a beautiful witness to the harmonious coexistence of man and nature. Here, we can observe the living habits of various wild animals up close and feel the magic of nature.

Weston Mangrove Proboscis Monkey & Sunset Firefly Cruise in Sabah
In Sabah, there are three famous mangrove forests, namely Kawa, Weston and Klias. While each mangrove has its own unique features, they are all famous for spotting Malaysia’s national treasure, the proboscis monkeys, and for watching fireflies at night. I joined a tour group to the Weston Mangrove Wetlands, hoping to get a chance to see proboscis monkeys firsthand.
It takes about two hours to drive from Kota Kinabalu to Weston Mangrove Forest. Usually we depart from the hotel at one or two o'clock in the afternoon and return to the hotel at around nine o'clock in the evening. After arriving at the mangroves, you will have an afternoon tea and then take a speedboat to start looking for proboscis monkeys. After returning to the shack for dinner in the dark, we enter the river again. If we are lucky, we may have the opportunity to see beautiful fireflies flying in the wetland woods.
