The Manila Cathedral - The Philippines
Getting There - The church is located in the ancient fortification city of Intramuros and can be easily reached by taxi or you can take the tram to Carriedo Station and take a minibus from there.
Attractions -
The present cathedral has undergone eight renovations since it was built in 1581. The last reconstruction project was completed in 1958 after the church was destroyed by bombs during World War II.
The facade of Manila Cathedral is in neo-Roman architectural style. At the main entrance of the church, visitors can see bronze plates reminiscent of an important historical landmark: the building was first demolished in 1600. If you pay attention, you can also see a white disk lying on the floor. The top of the façade is under the crucifix, above which is a key holder and tiara to commemorate the visit of Pope John Pauk II in 1981.
Step inside and you'll find a choir platform above the entrance. This is where the largest organ in the Far East is located. As you walk along the nave to the main altar, you'll see a life-size, life-size bronze statue of the Virgin Mary. Besides, the stained glass windows with special designs and colors will make you unable to take your eyes off. There are about 130 glasses and 8 pairs of main windows inside the main hall of the church.
