#mediterraneanfood Our trip to Greece was a sun-soaked feast, and the food? Unforgettable. Hands down the best culinary travel experience! For quick and delicious meals, we turned to gyros—fresh pita, tender meat, crispy fries, and creamy tzatziki, all for just a few euros. You really can’t beat that combo! We also indulged in heartier Greek classics like: Moussaka – layers of eggplant, spiced meat, and béchamel, baked to perfection. Lamb Kleftiko – slow-cooked lamb wrapped in paper with lemon, herbs, and vegetables. Spanakopita – Flaky spinach and feta pie. With the summer heat, ice cream became a daily ritual (no regrets), and iced coffees—especially frappés—kept us going between beach days and sightseeing. We sipped local wine, ate baklava for dessert (layers of honey-soaked pastry and nuts), and basically lived our best Mediterranean life.

I had to visit the archaeological site of Skarkos; the entry was just 3 euros, and the history was fascinating. For sunsets, Ios has some of the best views—head to the old windmill for an unforgettable sight. The local tavernas serve incredible food; don’t miss the moussaka! The most friendliest island in greece, the beautiful Ios. From the moment you set off the ferry everyone is there to please you. Transportation is great every 10 minutes there is a bus taking you from the port to the large party beach Mylopotas. Hardly any traffic, everything is a few minutes away. The most beautiful sunsets, and the best views. After visiting a few islands I have decided this is the best one, catering for all ages.

The view from the top was breathtaking! One of the highlights was visiting the ancient ruins of Skarkos. For a small entrance fee of €2, we got a glimpse into the island's history. We also took a boat trip to explore hidden coves and smaller beaches, like Manganari Beach, which was so peaceful and picturesque. At night, Ios really comes alive. We hit the bars and clubs in Chora—think dancing under the stars until the early morning! The local food was another highlight, especially the fresh seafood and Greek salads. The Greek island of Ios has a very small cheese factory better known as a cheesery because of its size. This is a great little trip for an afternoon, from Chora it takes about 20 minutes to drive or if you prefer a good hike you can do it in just under two hours. When you arrive you will be greeted and offered the full tour and tasting which comes with some rosé wine. This is what we opted for, it is a very small tour but also very interesting and for a great price I’d highly recommend. You will then be given 10 different cheeses to try, along with some rosé wine and after a small shot of raki to help with digestion. #localguides #greece #greekwine #cheese
