Shuzenji Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
~ Shuzenji in Autumn
The oldest onsen town on Shizuoka’s beautiful Izu Peninsula, it is listed as one of the “100 Best Hot Springs” in the country. Shuzenji also made GaijinPot’s list as of one the three most unforgettable ryokan and onsen experiences in Japan from travel expert Rob Goss. After soaking in the hot spring, don a yukata (a light cotton kimono), and stroll down the bamboo forest path along the Katsura River. The natural scenery is particularly stunning during autumn.
Address: Shuzenji, Izu, Shizuoka Prefecture 410-2416, Japan

The Togetsu Bridge of Shuzenji Onsen is different from the Togetsu Bridge of Kyoto. Aside from the fact that they do not look anything more alike, they also have a lot of different things to offer. The Togetsu Bridge of Shuzenji Onsen has many locals roaming around with a 1900s carriage, offering tourists for a paid ride around the historical complex. That and many more fun in the area!

Izu demon cat pass! Xiushan Temple can also be understood as a small town in Japan, a famous sightseeing spot of Izu, which is a temple, a shrine, a bamboo forest, a hot spring, and a history and humanity. The Xiu Temple, the core area of Xiushan Temple, was founded in the early days of the Heian period by the master of the Hongfa (that is, in the demon cat biography). Before I came, I heard about the beauty of Hongye Hongqiao in Xiushan Temple. Therefore, it is really worthwhile to wear a kimono to walk through the ancient streets of Xiushan Temple. The attractions here are very concentrated, and most of the famous attractions and restaurants can be reached on foot. It is a stop that Shizuoka should not miss, also known as "Little Kyoto of Izu"
I spent the New Year's holiday abroad at Shuzenji, Japan
Shuzenji, Japan.
🌟🌟🌟 Shuzenji in Japan holds a high status, and in the evening, it is very quiet with few people around, allowing for a peaceful appreciation of the temple's beauty. The Fudo hot spring is said to have been named when the 8th-century monk Kobo Daishi struck a rock with a Buddhist priest's staff, causing hot spring water to gush forth. This is also the birthplace of the Shuzenji hot springs.
🌟🌟🌟 The Niji-no-Sato Park in Shuzenji recreates a 17th-century English town atmosphere with 'British Village' and a 'Craftsmen Village' showcasing traditional Japanese crafts, where one can spend hours savoring the experience.
🌟🌟🌟 Visiting Shuzenji allows one to feel an inner peace, with its scenic views everywhere, ubiquitous hot springs, timeless old inns, and more. No wonder there are so many tourists from all over the world who love Japan.

Izu Peninsula Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Izu, a beautiful island in Shizuoka 🇯🇵✨
Izu island in Shizuoka is a must for sushi lovers and nature enthusiasts. Its mountains and plateaus are also major draws for adventure hikers and nature lovers. The peak time to travel to Izu is in the summer from mid-June to late September.
I went there in September, the weather wasn’t that good but I really enjoyed the time there. Sitting on the rock watching the sunset, eating delicious seafood dishes, waking up early to go to the beach when there was nobody there, booking a hotel with a great view of the sea, wandering around the Omura yama mountain while it was being covered by thick fog and then watching its beauty after all the fog was gone, all of these things made it an unforgettable trip.
Izu is very easy to accessible from Tokyo, so if you want to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city for 1-2 days, or suddenly you miss the sea, Izu is probably a great choice😊
Kawazu Cherry Blossom Viewing on the Izu Peninsula.
In the cherry blossom season that blooms in various places in Eastern Japan mostly from March to April, the Kawazu cherry blossom season on the Izu Peninsula actually starts blooming in February, ahead of the others. The Izu Peninsula, also famous for its hot springs, offers more than just a therapeutic hot spring trip in Atami. The zoo, known for the adorable capybara enjoying hot springs, is also located here.
Japanese Hot Spring Seaside Resort | Izu Peninsula (1696)
| Izu Peninsula (1696). The Izu Peninsula, located to the south of Tokyo and part of Shizuoka Prefecture, is a scenic tourist destination in Japan's Kanto region. The Fuji volcanic belt runs through the Izu Peninsula from north to south, resulting in numerous hot springs, for which the peninsula is famous, along with its seaside views. The Izu Peninsula offers a combination of natural beauty and cultural charm, attracting many great literary figures to stay, and is widely known for 'The Dancing Girl of Izu,' the famous work by Nobel laureate Yasunari Kawabata.
The most beautiful cherry blossoms in eastern Shizuoka are all here (from late March to early April)
Eastern Shizuoka, Izu Peninsula,
as if you were in an ocean of cherry blossoms, with pink petals fluttering down, picturesque and poetic.
As the spring breeze passes, under the cherry trees, a romantic pink is left behind. A gentle breeze stirs, and amidst the cherry blossom rain, it's like a dreamy fairyland.
Immersed in it, the soul is purified, forgetting the troubles and disturbances of the mundane world. Each cherry blossom is a masterpiece of nature, each view a gift from the great outdoors. In this ocean of cherry blossoms, let your heart drift with the wind,
and in the fragrance of the flowers, appreciate the beauty and brevity of life. Listen quietly,
to the blossoming and falling of the flowers, feel the passage of time, and taste the cycle of life.
The Izu Peninsula, where the cherry blossoms bloom, is the yearning for the beauty of the soul, and also a portrayal of life in full bloom.

Lover’s Cape Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
From this cape, you can watch the strong waves crash into Kuroshima. The waves split into two and you can see the rare sight of two waves both pulling and crashing into the land at the same time. These waves are called gasshounami ("gasshou" meaning to put your hands together in prayer, "nami" meaning wave") or fuufunami ("fuufu" meaning married couple), and it's a wonderful sight that makes the entire cape seem romantic as you watch the two waves meet. To me this place is definitely nice. This place is a bit of a walk good for those who love hiking. You go downhill and then uphill. A bit touristy as compared to Koganezaki. Worth to visit.

The lovers are located in West Izu and attract 250,000 visitors each year. Walking through the Fuji Tour Trail, which is about 750 meters long, there is a bronze statue of lovers and a bell calling for love on the observation platform facing the Suruga Bay. Ringing the bell and calling the name of the lover, love will come true. Behind the bronze statue, when the weather is fine, you can see Mount Fuji from Omaezaki, and the scenery is unforgettable.
At the souvenir shop near the entrance, you can buy a certificate of lover declaration, love painting horse, and concentric lock. However, it can only be hung near the store, and there is no hanging position in the observatory. Wedding ceremony can also be held here~

Japan's Shizuoka, don't miss these two unique accommodation experiences.
When traveling, unique accommodations are an essential experience. Therefore, for this trip to Shizuoka Prefecture, I specifically booked two nights of distinctive and diverse lodging.
"Campground Sanctuary" - Luxury Camping Next to Tea Fields
Shizuoka is known as the "holy land of camping" in Japan, so the first night in Shizuoka must be spent experiencing camping!
As a camping "novice", I'm actually a little excited.
This reservation is for the luxury camping site of "Glamping & Port". The entire campsite was built from a local abandoned school. Some of the old school facilities were transformed into bathrooms, activity rooms, lobbies, and so on. Different sizes of luxury tent campsites were set up on the playground, which is quite creative.
The campsite is located next to tea fields and forests, and as soon as you enter, you can feel the comfortable feeling of being close to nature. Walking into the tent, it really feels no less comfortable than a very comfortable hotel. There are sofas, super wide and soft beds, refrigerators, leisure chairs, and even a hammock on the small outdoor platform. There is also a dedicated BBQ area nearby and a shared water bar in the middle of the playground. Isn't this too comfortable?
Reserved BBQ dinner, the staff will deliver the ingredients to the front of the room at the agreed time, and patiently tell me how to use the grill.
A large plate of meat and vegetables, in the night, listening to gentle music, guarding my grill and food. The feeling of being away from the hustle and bustle of the city is so comfortable.
Push open the door, and what you can see is the starry sky outside the tent, while inside the room, there are warm lights and comfortable beds. Huh? Is this what luxury camping is all about?
In an instant, I realized that this kind of accommodation experience can also be quite interesting.
"Experience the traditional charm of a century-old hot spring hotel at Shuzenji."
In Shuzenji, Izu Peninsula, Shizuoka Prefecture, there are hot springs, temples, bamboo forests, and a rich history. Natsume Soseki once wrote "Memories" here, and Kawabata Yasunari's "The Dancing Girl of Izu" also began with this scene. Therefore, how can one not experience a traditional hundred-year-old hot spring inn when coming here?
In Shuzenji, there are many traditional hot spring inns, but the most worthwhile and popular one to experience is the "Souvenir Kikuya" hot spring inn. It is said that this place has a history of more than 380 years, and the Japanese literary giant Natsume Soseki also lived here for a long time. Even now, the room he once lived in is still preserved.
As soon as you step into the Chikuyado, you are surrounded by an ancient and nostalgic feeling. If you are lucky enough like me, maybe you can stay in the room where Natsume Soseki once lived, or in the neighboring area on the same floor. Feel the traditional Japanese atmosphere and experience a wonderful journey of crossing time and space to "meet" literary masters.
The rooms in the main building of Jukuya are very traditional Japanese style, but they are also divided into bedrooms and reception rooms. There is also a separate Japanese-style courtyard. My favorite time is in the morning, when the sunlight shines into the room, and I feel as if I have traveled back in time a hundred years.
Experience accommodation in Shizuoka Prefecture, where you can enjoy both the trendy modern outdoor style and the traditional Japanese atmosphere. Does it make your heart beat faster?
