On March 30th, Yuegong Tower at the summit of Niutou Mountain Provincial Forest Park in Jiayu County, Hubei Province, officially opened to the public for free. The tower is a reinforced concrete frame structure imitating wood, standing 34.48 meters tall, with five eaves, a hexagonal pointed roof, and a simple yet solemn gourd-shaped top decoration. Its history dates back to the fifth year of the Shaoxing era of the Southern Song Dynasty (1135), when Yue Fei once stationed in Jiayu and trained troops on the heights. Initially built during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty to honor the spirit of loyalty and patriotism, it has been destroyed and rebuilt many times over the centuries. Reconstruction began in October 2020 and was completed in September 2022, now reopening anew on its original site. From the tower, one can see that Niutou Mountain is over 70% forest-covered, with the three lakes—Meixie Lake, Bai Lake, and Miquan Lake—like mirrors, blending mountains and water harmoniously. The buildings of Jiayu County are nestled among them, vividly portraying an ecological scene of "water winding around green mountains, the city beside the water."
