Getting There - Join a tour group or hire a driver for eash access as Jiufen is higher up on the mountains.

Food & Restaurants - Tons of local delicacies in Jiufen and Shifen old streets, Jiufen old street is known for the taro balls as well.

Cherishing Jiufen's Past and Present
Rushing to arrive in Jiufen at dusk to witness the dazzling lights of the mountain town. However, upon arrival, you find Jiufen nowhere to be seen, as the usual crowds are absent, shops have long closed, and the lights are out. You lose your reference points and fumble in the dark for direction.
Jiufen is no longer the scene you once loved. Over-commercialization has turned it into a gaudy spectacle, like a simple village girl dressed up flamboyantly.
You chose to visit during the northeast monsoon because you knew from long ago that the rain could wash away its gaudy facade, revealing its weathered yet captivating essence.
Gold gives birth to water; if rain is Jiufen's soul, it also reflects your wandering and unrestrained spirit.
Quietly listening to the sound of wind and rain, watching Jiufen shrouded in mist, you think of Zheng Chouyu's poem: 'I am merely a passerby, not a returning person!'
Jiufen: Taiwan's Historic Gem
#winhkflight
I had the pleasure of visiting Jiufen, and I can say with certainty that it is more than just a town; it is an enthralling trip through history and customs. Its winding alleyways gave me the impression that I had travelled back in time, with reminders of its history as a gold mining town left all over the place. The experience was made even more magical by the vivid colours, the smell of freshly made street food, and the lively, buzzing energy of the markets.
Every moment in Jiufen felt like a gem waiting to be found, whether it was enjoying tea in a traditional teahouse or taking in the expansive vistas of the coast. For those fortunate enough to attend, it is a location where history comes to life, leaving an enduring impression.
Direct bus to Jiufen from XMD
From Ximending, you can board bus 965 which gets you all the way to Jiu Fen in comfort! My
ride took about 40 minutes, very convenient and I get to enjoy the scenery along the way.
It was sad to see that many stores at Jiu Fen were closed during my visit to Jiu Fen in early Dec 2022. They were not spared from the pandemic as well.
Do check the weather forecast before setting off to Jiu Fen. As it’s not a fully sheltered place, it’s really inconvenient when it’s rains and freezing cold to be there.
Charming Mountain Town- Jiufen by Night II🌚✨
I wanted to do justice to this charming mountain town, so here’s what you can expect to see at night while wandering in Jiufen’s popular old street! The old architecture, the alleys and all the shops, restaurants, teahouses etc make Jiufen an incredible place to visit! The streets are decorated with lanterns, thus adding more beauty to this place once they’re all lit up! 😍🏮✨
It’s nearly impossible to get a picture without the crowd 😬 especially in the evening/ night when most people are looking for restaurants to dine. The place is packed with restaurants offering a taste of local food. I came across several shops with artists. I had a chat with one of them who lives there and earns a living from his products. Please support local artists if you want to buy unique souvenirs! 🙂
Charming Mountain Town -Jiufen by day I☀️🏔
While researching about places to visit in Taiwan, I stumbled upon many pictures of Jiufen and its popular old street. I was instantly hooked and made it a must to visit despite of several warnings from my local friend about how touristy and crowded Jiufen is. Do I regret going there? ABSOLUTELY NOT 🤗
The town is located east of Taipei and was a former gold mining hub during the Japanese era. It consists of narrow alleyways with shops, restaurants, street food and cafés. I spotted this nice artsy café with a view: Jiufen Impressions. The owner and his son were very accommodating and kind to make me another cup of coffee (at no extra cost despite of me insisting) after I spilled the first one on myself while trying to take a picture 🙈
The end of the main old street offers stunning views of the mountains and the ocean! 😍🏔🌊✨
Recommendations 👇🏼
1. Wear comfortable trainers as you’ll be climbing narrow and steep stairs. (I was wearing shoes with thick soles and almost fell. I had knee pain the next day but nothing serious fortunately)
2. I went mid-January and it was pretty cold up there 😬 It was also raining earlier! Make sure to wear a jacket and carry an umbrella!
How to go ➡️ I took a bus that goes directly to Jiufen from Taipei after checking the route from my hotel on Google map. It takes about an hour. There’s a bus station there , so I took the same bus to go back to the city. Cheap and convenient ✌🏼Bus views were also incredible!

Fullon Hotel Tamsui Fishermen's Wharf
Fullon Hotel Tamsui Fishermen's Wharf, Taipei is one of my favorite hotels in Taipei. Just an hour's drive from Taipei and you breathe the Pacific Ocean breeze. Hotels rooms have balconies. Breakfast buffet style not so bed. The hotel has a lot of facilities for kids. For dinner have a nice Chinese restaurant.
P.S.: thank you so much for the unexpected romantic atmosphere in the room.

[Taiwan] Spun Waterfall
Before going to the famous tourist attraction Shifen in Taiwan,
I stopped by Shifen Waterfall!
I crossed the bridge and entered Shifen Waterfall,
and the cool waterfall air and smell were so cool🌿
The weather in Taiwan is very unpredictable,
but when I went to Shifen Waterfall, the weather was so nice that I took a picture of my life📸

Wulai - One day trip from Taipei
Wulai is one of my favorite destinations for day trips out of Taipei. It's less than one hour drive by public bus from Xindian MRT 🚇 (the last stop of Green Line). Bus stop right away from MRT exit. Once you arrive at Wulai you will walk through Wulai Old Street, an ideal place to get your lunch or dinner. So many kinds of vegetables 🌺 here, I didn't see and I didn't try before. Here is also a good place for hiking and of course Hot Springs. you can rent hereby hours. I tried to stay one time overnight, but it's a bit boring here.

Shifen Waterfall, Taiwan
Shifen waterfall is walk away from Shifen Old Street. It’s beautiful and easy walk from the station.
Getting There - There is a train station in shifen, you can take train from Taipei or any other city to reach here. You can also take taxi but that will be expensive.
Attractions - Shifen Waterfall, Shifen Old Street, Lantern wish Flying, Temples.
You can also buy snacks, Souvenirs here. This place attracts lots of tourists due to its lanterns wishes. People buy lanterns, write their wishes and fly them.

When you’re about to get spirited away but no, beautiful places deserve beautiful pictures. The town Jiufen in Taiwan inspired Hayao Miyazaki's signature film 'Spirited Away’. An Old Street with a Tea House. Pretty magical! ❤️
#happynewyear
Third thing I love about Taiwan is its beautiful nature exuding peace and happiness just when it is most needed.

Jioufen, New Taipei City - Taiwan: Another famous attraction that every tourist has to visit. The signature here is the red lantern along the old building which is even more beautiful at night. There are some local shops, teahouse, local foods at every corner.
Jiufen is a beautiful location to visit in Taiwan! If you have watched Spirited Away and liked the film, then I think you would like this place 😊 While you enjoy the lanterns and food, I recommend trying the tea at Amei Teahouse!

Spent a great day exploring Chiufen, which is a great spot to try Taiwanese street food & snacks, as well as to pick up fun souvenirs. It was a rainy day, but the narrow streets with overhanging buildings & awnings offered a little protection from the mist. It was easily accessible from Taipei, with plenty of busses, taxis & Ubers available. The views over the bay are stunning.

Taipei, Jiufen, super beautiful small attractions "Small Kamakura" Yin Yanghai
this time to go to Jiufen, take the road to check out the small Kamakura in Taiwan: Yin Yanghai, really beautiful on sunny days ! Do not lose the "authentic" Kamakura in Japan!
Itinerary:
Yinyanghai is next to Jiufen. It is recommended to play with Jiufen; you can also go to the Pingxi train to play together.
Transportation:
There are buses to Jiuyang Old Street and Ruifang Station to Yinyanghai. Take Bus No. 856 to get off at Shuinongdong, but 856 is really super difficult! One hour and one bus, so I suggest you still take a taxi.
We took a taxi from Jiufen Old Street and talked with the driver about the price in advance, 600 Taiwan dollars for the whole journey. The midway driver took us to the Golden Falls to see the yin and yang, let the driver wait a minute, we took about 20 minutes, really embarrassed, but the driver did not complain, and finally sent us to Ruifang station , ride back to Taipei.
The best shooting position
The best shooting position is shown in Figure 7, which is what the driver told us, because the photographer stands taller and can shoot more seas.
There is also a small platform next to it, which can be used to shoot the entire sea, very spectacular.
The origin of the name of Yin and Yang Hai
Before going to Yinyanghai, I dont know why it is called Yinyanghai. I only know that it is a small Kamakura in Taiwan. When I came here, I understood the second, because the sea here has two colors, half blue, half yellow, and looks very much like yin and yang.
Have any questions, please leave a message in the comments, I will reply
Jiufen Old Street is full of various shops, eating, playing, trendy, retro, long streets are full of nostalgic atmosphere, perhaps too commercial, but also become a nine must-have card Featured items!
Many handmade shops here, each item is original design, unique!
There are many selling thousands of Chihiro dolls. In fact, Grandpa Palace said that the inspiration for the "Mysterious City" of Spirited Away is based on the Edo Tokyo Building Park, not nine copies! However, this gimmick really attracted a lot of young people to play.
Food, is not missed in Jiufen Old Street, all kinds of rounds are a major feature here!
"Alan"'s gimmick group
"lazy apo" round
has visited the "oil onion"
60-year-old shop "fish ball Bo Zi "
ate a circle, the belly is almost full!
Transportation: From Taipei to Jiufen, it is more convenient to take the 1062 bus, passing through Ruifang Railway Station, Jiufen Old Street, and the terminal station is Jinguashi.
Jiufen Mountain City, houses are dotted along the steep hillsides, high and low, high and low, the level is gradually clear, the night is more charming, always reminds people of Lijiang, Yunnan, China, but compared to the noise of Lijiang night, there are many nine coffees here. There are many shops, and the song "Jiufen's Coffee Shop" by Taiwanese singer Chen Yu is from here. Jiufen has no hotels and no hotels, but there are many houses for accommodation. Taipei took the train to Ruifang Station, and then took the bus to Jiufen Old Street. When I got off the bus, I picked up the camera and took a Western shoot. I tasted the gourmet snacks along the way. This may be the result of many tourists coming to Jiufen. Things. It is more like Zeng Yuan's 10 years ago in Xiamen. It is very lively but literary. Jiufen's nostalgic landscape attracts many tourists, mainly in the streets of Jishan Street, Liqiqi Road and Light Road. Jiufen's nostalgic atmosphere naturally inherits many foods, such as round rice. In addition to the original sweet potato and taro flavors, there are special matcha, sesame and yam flavors, both hot and cold. Basically, Jiufen's attractions are not in the network introduction, nor in the books, nor in the recommendation of friends, but in your exploration! The beauty of Jiufen, if you are the earlier, you can see the nine copies of the cockroach, the nine copies of the rain, the nine winds blowing the wind, not the old streets, the nine voices of the voice!
I thought about going to Jiufen for a cup of tea before I went. I thought today that this decision was very alert. Instead of "enjoying" the crowd on the old streets where people are enjoying the crowd, it is better to sit in the window of the well-known Amei Tea House. Amei Tea House is at the end of the ramp, and a row of red lanterns hanging on wooden buildings is conspicuous. People don't need to look for it to see it. I thought it would be crowded with tourists, but it was a very clean place. There are two face expressions at the door that are quite intriguing. It is in line with the faint mystery of Jiufen.
It was an afternoon with a warm afternoon sun, although the distant mountains were hazy, sitting indoors and feeling that everything was illuminated by the warm sun. There is a big cockroach at the foot of each table, and there is carbon in it. A darkened kettle braved white smoke and made a squeaking sound. The waiter poured a cup of oolong for us. We chatted with a few special snacks and tea, which was very pleasant. I heard that this restaurant, Miyazaki, has also visited, and is very famous. When leaving, the valley of Jiufen is still hidden in the clouds, as if the sunset is separated from it forever.
A "Sad City" made Jiufen a small town and entered the people's field of vision. The old house, layered and stacked along the foothills. In front of the eyes, the mountains and seas are staggered like ink. As the raging crowd marched forward, sweating and eating a bowl of steaming dry mix powder, and then a sleek sweet glutinous rice, just at the beginning of the Hua Deng, the twilight fell slightly. The fishing boats in the distance are a little bit bright, and the people in the vicinity are flashing with fireworks. This is the most beautiful moment of the day.
Taiwan's accommodation is a huge expense for our travels. In the choice of the hotel, we are also estimated to be repeated, the nine is the most expensive, of course, the experience is also the best. The host family likes to collect gold and silver ore, and the lobby on the first floor displays various "stones" like the exhibition hall.
The rooms are all kinds of different, the best room with the widest view is on the third floor. Of course, it is also the most expensive. The average per capita is about 500. This is the price of the off-season. The peak season is slightly upward.
We chose the second floor of the otter, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean from the balcony. My favorite is the chair in the room.
Breakfast offers a diluted breakfast, salad, pizza and more.
Recommended index: four stars
B&B name: Jiufen Tianfang Night Tan Restaurant B&B

A Taste of Old Taiwan: Jiufen’s Hidden Charms

Jiufen Old Street was such a unique experience during my Taiwan trip. The narrow streets were filled with souvenir shops and old-style buildings, giving it a historic and traditional Taiwan vibe. Everywhere I looked, there was something interesting to see!
The rainy weather made it feel even cozier. I tried the famous beef noodle soup and fish ball soup, and they were perfect for the chilly day—warm, comforting, and absolutely delicious. Eating hot food while hearing the rain outside was such a memorable moment.
Jiufen Old Street is truly a must-visit if you love exploring culture, history, and food!
