Accommodation costs in Seoul have risen significantly compared to pre-COVID times, but many people are hesitant to stay in dormitories or jjimjilbangs. (I'm one of them!!) The hotel I stayed at this time and highly recommend is the BREAD HILL HOTEL & SUITES in Jongno 3-ga!! However, it's not perfect for everyone, and I'd highly recommend it for those who fit the criteria, so I've listed the hotel's "Strong Points" and "Weak Points." You can enjoy Jeon (Korean pancakes) even when dining alone in Seoul! Introducing Gyodong Jeon Seonsaeng. When you order a stew (jjigae), it comes with Jeon! Such a delightful restaurant exists. Gyodong Jeon Seonsaeng Jongno-gu Office Branch 교동 전 선생 종로구청점 I ordered one jjigae dish, choosing kimchi jjigae. It had a tangy flavor that perfectly suited my taste. The price varies depending on the number of Jeon you order. I opted for the smallest set of six pieces, which included king oyster mushrooms, eggplant, tofu, perilla leaves stuffed with minced meat, cutlassfish, and zucchini. Jeon is often served in large portions or as a mixed platter, making it hard to finish, so I visit this place occasionally when I travel to Korea. It truly makes me happy. There are various types of jjigae available as well. For fans of historical dramas who want to try Jeon, this place is a must-visit! Even if the restaurant looks crowded and you hesitate outside, the staff are kind to solo diners, warmly encouraging you to come in. I ate my favorite sundae gukbap at Bosunhoegwang (보승회관)! I always stay in Jongno 3-ga when I'm in Seoul, and I found this place while wandering around! I'd never seen it before, and the interior was nice, so I guess it must have opened fairly recently? (Visited in early July) Ordering is done via the touchscreen at your seat. I ordered the sundae gukbap (₩11,000). It comes with sundae and suyuk, but you can also choose just the sundae or just the suyuk. They also have special set meals for one person, including a set that combines soup, suyuk, and sundae, as well as a set that includes cold noodles and charcoal-grilled meat. I think this is a great place to casually dine alone! And of course, the food was delicious too! I saw this chijimi on a Korean blog and I definitely wanted to try it, but it was more crowded than I thought it would be lol I went there after lunch so I didn't have to wait that long, but I got the impression that there were quite a few people there to eat at lunchtime You can order using the touch panel in Japanese, so it's no problem even if you don't understand Korean! They also had regular kalguksu, but I was in the mood for something spicy that day, so I went for that! The noodles were chewy and spicy, but the taste is addictive! It also has seafood in it, which I really like❤️ The chijimi was greasy and I couldn't eat it all🥲 Many of the Koreans at the other tables ordered potato chijimi. If I have another chance to go, I'll order the potato one.
