🥨 Kaga 🥨 A winter getaway to Kaga Onsen Located about 40-50 minutes by train from Kanazawa, this area is on the outskirts but offers satisfying facilities and kaiseki cuisine, making it a recommended hot spring travel destination! It’s not a widely known spot, which makes it even more relaxing and enjoyable. The onsen has various amenities, so you can spend the whole day inside without stepping out! If you’re looking to explore nearby areas, I highly recommend visiting Kaga in winter!

Visiting Japan and soaking in hot springs is a must! I spent a week traveling in the Hokuriku region, and my final stop was Kaga Onsen for some relaxation. I stayed at the Yatoya Hot Spring Inn this time. The room rate is about 8000 yen per night. The room has a single bed, a small living area, a toilet, and a washbasin. The service is truly exceptional. In addition to shuttle service from the station, you don't have to carry your luggage at all after getting off the bus. 😂 After checking in, a staff member will take your luggage, introduce the environment, and then take you to your room. It's a royal treatment. 😝 The hotel has two hot springs, one of which has a small outdoor pool that's very pleasant. The room itself comes with a yukata, and there are other patterns to choose from outside the hot spring area! In the afternoon, there are free desserts, and the small ice cream is especially delightful. In the evening, you can enjoy a unique taiko drum performance from Kaga Onsen. There are some small eateries and restaurants near the hotel, and a convenience store is just a five-minute walk away. If you want to enjoy a bit more, booking a stay with breakfast and dinner included is also a great option!

This restaurant is amazing. I happened to drop by during a walk in Yamanaka Onsen, but it's a long-established restaurant that has been in business for 60 years! It has been featured in various magazines, and their suiran tanmen and homemade gyoza are super delicious. And for some reason, there's even a piano in the restaurant, which gives it a calm and beautiful atmosphere. The noodles for the suiran tanmen are handmade, the soup is a clear soup, and the gyoza are handmade one by one, with care taken with the skins. This restaurant is full of surprises, so please come and try it. There are two public baths in Yamashiro Onsen, "Soyu" and "Kosoyu". Two old-fashioned public baths with impressive wood and stained glass. Kosoyu is a restoration of the public baths from the Meiji period, and not only the exterior and interior have been recreated, but also the bathing method of the time, called "yuami", which simply involves soaking in the hot spring. The rest area on the second floor and the Kutani ware tiles on the floor and walls of the bathroom have also been restored to their original state. The bathroom was cuter than I expected, but the water was quite hot, so I could only stay in it for 5 to 10 minutes! After warming up, I went to the rest area on the second floor to cool off with a fan and drink ice-cold water for a blissful moment. It was a great spot to visit.
