A Hot Spring Inn Perfect for Solo Travelers! Kaga Onsen Edition
Visiting Japan and soaking in hot springs is a must!
I spent a week traveling in the Hokuriku region, and my final stop was Kaga Onsen for some relaxation.
I stayed at the Yatoya Hot Spring Inn this time.
The room rate is about 8000 yen per night.
The room has a single bed, a small living area, a toilet, and a washbasin.
The service is truly exceptional.
In addition to shuttle service from the station, you don't have to carry your luggage at all after getting off the bus. 😂
After checking in, a staff member will take your luggage, introduce the environment, and then take you to your room. It's a royal treatment. 😝
The hotel has two hot springs, one of which has a small outdoor pool that's very pleasant.
The room itself comes with a yukata, and there are other patterns to choose from outside the hot spring area!
In the afternoon, there are free desserts, and the small ice cream is especially delightful.
In the evening, you can enjoy a unique taiko drum performance from Kaga Onsen.
There are some small eateries and restaurants near the hotel, and a convenience store is just a five-minute walk away.
If you want to enjoy a bit more, booking a stay with breakfast and dinner included is also a great option!
In the Japanese hot spring town, do your own wooden bowl
maybe you will say that the hot spring town, nature is the same everywhere, then let's take a different photo! In the quiet atmosphere of Kaga Hot Springs, of course we have to go back to the rustic style. Come to this woodworking workshop, under the guidance of the teacher, make a jewelry box or a wooden bowl. There is a special machine here. Not only can you experience woodworking but you can also take very special photos.
The whole production process seems to be easy, but it is not simple. You have to find the right point of force, and you have to flex your wrist flexibly at the bottom of the bowl. The slightest hesitation will make your bowl. Potholes, concentrate on a bowl, but also lettering at the bottom, quite a sense of accomplishment.
Explore KAI Kaga, Kaga Onsen.
🚀 Transportation: Kaga Onsen is only a 30-minute drive from Kanazawa Station, so you don't have to worry about a long journey. We chose to take a taxi to the hotel, and the 10-minute ride was a great time to chat with the friendly driver, who even recommended must-try sushi and seafood rice bowls, adding a touch of warmth to our trip.
🔍 Location and Environment: Located in the historic Kaga Onsen, which consists of four hot spring villages, Yamashiro Onsen is famous for its size. KAI Kaga is located here, just a stone's throw from Yamashiro Onsen Kosoyu, the core public bathhouse of the street, which exudes a strong ancient charm. Although there are not many shops in the area, there is still plenty of space to relax while enjoying the food and hot springs in the hotel.
🔥 Special Experience: The traditional Kaga lion dance is performed daily, and although it may be difficult to understand its deeper meaning, it undoubtedly adds a unique touch to the trip. Although the hotel itself is not large, it is warm and welcoming, and you will be surrounded by warmth when you visit in winter.
🏡 Accommodation: The rooms are spacious and clean, with plenty of heating, so you won't feel cold even in winter. The overall environment is kept to a high standard of cleanliness, which makes you feel comfortable.
🍽 Dining Experience: The package includes breakfast and dinner, both of which are served in the same small private room. Although the staff is slightly understaffed, which results in a slow seating and serving speed, this does not affect the quality of the food. Especially before the lion dance performance, you can request to have your dessert delivered to your room for a leisurely taste. Each meal is carefully prepared and worth savoring.

Benjamin Adams Benjamin25 The Best Onsen Hotel in Hokuriku Kaga Worth Staying for a Night
So far, the best hotel experience I've had in Japan is definitely in Kaga. Although it's in a more rural area and the staff don't speak English, they are very patient and polite! We communicated using a translation device.
We chose a Japanese-style tatami room and additionally purchased breakfast and dinner kaiseki cuisine for about HKD 750 (TWD 3000) per person.
I think eating seafood in coastal areas of Japan is really enjoyable. Even though I don't usually like sashimi, I finished everything 😋😋
Basically, there aren't many foreign tourists. I avoided peak bathing hours and had the bathhouse all to myself that day.
Spending a slow day in the countryside fully recharged me ❤️ I fell in love with the idea of taking naps and soaking in hot springs while traveling in rural Japan.
♨️Tokigasane Katayamazu Onsen Hotel
Yamashiro Onsen Kosoyu/Ishikawa Prefecture.
Kosoyu, the symbol of Yamashiro Onsen♨️
It's a communal bath that retains the architectural style from the Meiji era🫢
Unfortunately, photography is prohibited in the hot spring, so I can't show you any pictures, but the atmosphere was really nice🥺🫶
It's convenient that it opens as early as 6 AM, and the morning bath felt great☺️
After warming up in the slightly hot spring, relaxing in the rest area on the second floor was the perfect way to cool down🍂

Ayatori Bridge in Ishikawa Prefecture
Ayatori Bridge is a pedestrian bridge built over the steep Kakusenkei Gorge 🌉
It connects the center of Yamanaka Onsen, where Yamanaka-za is located, to the riverbed of Kakusenkei Gorge✨
The bridge is characterized by its unique S-shaped curve in a reddish-purple color❕
It was quite fun with its twists and turns😆
From the middle of the bridge, you can see the beautiful riverbed with a bright red umbrella amidst the lush greenery🍃
The river flowing below is called Daishoji River, and the traditional Japanese scenery was truly wonderful🥰
The bridge is also illuminated at night💡

Kakusenkei Kawadoko/Ishikawa Prefecture
I visited the famous Kawadoko in Kakusenkei 🌳🪵
Located in the center of Yamanaka Onsen, it takes about 10 minutes to walk from Yamanakaza along the Kakusenkei promenade. Crossing the uniquely shaped S-shaped Ayatori Bridge, you'll find the beautiful Kawadoko with a stunning contrast of lush greenery and bright red umbrellas 🌿❤️
This Kawadoko is open for a limited time from April 1st to November 30th, allowing you to enjoy a picturesque moment while gazing at the deep green valley and the clear flowing water ☺️🍃
A must-try here is the 'Kawadoko Set' 🤍
For 600 yen, you get a seat (usually 300 yen) plus Kaga Bocha tea, and a choice of either cold matcha shiruko or Kawadoko roll sweets 🧁

Kosoyu public bathhouse 山代温泉 総湯
#japantrip It was a hands-on facility where you could experience the bathing methods of the Meiji era, so you weren't able to take pictures inside the bathroom, but it was very interesting as there were replicas of the equipment from that time, such as hot water massage boards and stained glass.
This is a lack of research on my part, but l thought it was a normal public bath after a bike ride, so l was uncomfortable because I couldn't wash my body clean. I think it would be better to check in advance.
Nakaya Ukichiro Museum of Snow and Ice
#japantrip Visitors can learn about snowflakes through materials and hands-on experience. Children will be very happy to experience fog as well. The explanations are basically in Japanese. The entire building has an interesting shape, and you can enjoy a walk in the surrounding park as well. It takes about one hour to walk around the entire building. A very interesting museum about one man’s research into snow and ice! It is worth it!
Kaga Mountain Onsen Trip
Day 4
Travel from Kanazawa to Yamanaka Onsen in Kaga Onsen by Hokuriku Shinkansen. We have a reservation at the Kichijo Onsen Hotel for one night with two meals. The hotel provides shuttle service from the station, and it takes about half an hour to arrive, allowing us to enjoy the Japanese countryside scenery along the way.
The onsen ryokan is located by the Yamanaka stream. It is quiet and pleasant.
The onsen ryokan's lobby bar offers tea and desserts. We happily enjoyed today's afternoon tea ☕️, Darjeeling white peach tea. Our room was upgraded to a private bath, avoiding the inconvenience of public baths. Dinner is scheduled at a specific time in the restaurant on the second floor.
In the room, my husband took a bath, and I rested on the balcony for a while. Since it was still early, we went out for a walk. The Yamanaka Onsen Higashimachi area is a mix of residences and shops, but they were all closed at this time. Later, we found out that the real shopping street is about a twenty-minute walk away, and the hotel's shuttle bus can take us there. It is much more bustling!
Dinner is one of the highlights of this trip, featuring Kaga's local kaiseki cuisine.
In the evening, there is a performance by an artist in the lobby bar.
The next morning, we enjoyed a hearty Japanese breakfast and started the recommended Tsurugaikei hiking project. The scenery along the way is beautiful, with babbling streams.
We had a reservation for the 11 o'clock shuttle service to the station. We arrived at the station seamlessly and took the Shinkansen back to Osaka 🚄. We bought a special Hokuriku Shinkansen bento 🍱 at the station for lunch.
Stay at KAI Kaga, Ishikawa Prefecture
I stayed at the hot spring ryokan brand KAI Kaga, operated by Hoshino Resorts, in Kaga/Ishikawa Prefecture. 🤍
I stayed in room 804, which is located on the top floor, the 8th floor. ✨
The room nameplates and key holders featured original Kutani ware made by local artists especially for KAI Kaga, which was very cute. 🍃
It was lovely during the daytime, but at night, the way the lights softly illuminated the room was incredibly romantic. 🌙

Japanese hot spring hotel|Auspicious pavilion
Beautiful Kaga hot spring township is a Japanese-style hotel. The lucky pavilion has a beautiful environment. It is close to Hexianxi, and the river and the canyon can be seen from the window. The hotel offers various yukata robes and a rich breakfast and dinner. The room is very large. The bedroom and living room are separate. In addition, the hotel has a pick-up and drop-off to the JR station. The hotel has a public hot spring and serves breakfast, dinner and dinner with Kaiseki cuisine. The tempura can be renewed.
has to say that the location of the hotel is very good, walking ten minutes from the central commercial area, close to Hexianxi, the purple iron bridge on the stream is very eye-catching, definitely a good place to shoot. Looking out at Hexianxi, the red Sichuan bed attracted us, walked down the steps along the stream, and reached the river bed through a small waterfall. Here, I ate a famous black tea cake roll from Kaga, facing the mountains that I never hated. The beauty is exhausted.
Located in the middle of the mountain in the hot springs of the mountain, it is a building that combines 2,000 lacquer craftsmen and exquisite craftsmanship using traditional mountain lacquer ware. Enter the museum, remember to look up at the gorgeous ceiling. On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays every week, there are traditional performances in the mountains. The geisha performs the four seasons of the Mid-Autumn Festival, as well as the mountains and minors, the lion dance in the mountains and so on. On the summer night, there are various performances on the square in front of the Zhongshan Tower, which is very lively.

Monday to Friday, there is another game on the stage, which costs 1000 yen and needs to be booked one day in advance.

When I saw the official website and the publicity page, I turned over and immediately became the first attraction in the itinerary. I didn't expect to enter the park on a hot afternoon. I didn't even see one in the square! (but the photo does say
