But when I came back for a second visit, I was even more certain I made the right choice returning. So, I finally decided to just buy a package! 😍 Because this isn't just a relaxing massage; it's about taking time for myself, and resting both my body and mind on an exhausting day. For anyone living in Kalasin or just passing through, I highly recommend coming to experience it for yourself at least once. Lak Mueang Shrine ⛩️⛩️ Located in the heart of the city, drive along the road into the city past Rim Pao Hotel, reach Wat Tai Phothikham, turn left onto Kaeng Samrong Road, and you'll find the shrine at the intersection. Inside, you'll find sacred relics, including the ancient city pillar, revered by the people of Kalasin. The architecture is a blend of Thai and Chinese styles. It's believed that prayers offered here are answered regarding work, business, studies, and the protection of peace and tranquility in Kalasin. 2. Breakfast Restaurant: "Ah Fei" - famous for its Hainanese chicken rice 🐓 and crispy pork rice 🐖. Their Hainanese chicken rice is a must-try, but if you don't like chicken, the crispy pork rice is equally delicious. They also serve traditional coffee, complementing the restaurant's atmosphere. It's an old two-shop building located on the corner of an intersection, opposite the Lak Mueang Shrine. I ordered the special crispy pork rice (50 baht for regular, 60 baht for special). The roast pork was tender, the crispy pork was just right (not hard), it came with a half-boiled egg and good quality Chinese sausage. The sauce is not too sweet, slightly salty, well-balanced, fragrant, and delicious. 3. Souvenir shop 🍭🍭🍭 The shop is called Yai Nan Kalasin Souvenirs. They have many famous Kalasin products such as pounded pork, fermented pork sausage, and traditional snacks like rice crackers, which are perfectly fried and not oily. They are available with and without caramel sugar coating. Phu Po is a sandstone mountain peaking at 336 meters above sea level, well-known for its historic cave art. At the Phu Po Buddhist site, you'll find two ancient reclining Buddha statues carved into stone slabs beneath rock shelters at different elevations along the cliff. Located within Wat In Prathan Phon, this sacred site houses these two magnificent ancient sculptures. The first reclining Buddha is situated at the foothills, about 5 meters above the ground. Dating back to the 12th-14th Buddhist centuries (7th-9th centuries AD), it features Dvaravati art from the Isan artisan school. The stone base is intricately carved to resemble a spreading cloth supporting the body, head, and feet. A halo surrounds the body and head, with the outer edge of the halo near the head decorated with spaced floral motifs. The Buddha lies on his right side, resting his head on his right hand and arm. The second statue is carved into a rock wall under a shelter near the summit, approximately 600 meters from the ground below. To reach it, visitors can climb a stairway with convenient resting spots along the way. Carved around the 18th-19th Buddhist centuries (13th-14th centuries AD), this masterpiece blends Dvaravati and Sukhothai art styles. Also resting on his right side, the Buddha lies on a carved square-edged stone pedestal with legs designed to look like a bed. This carving features elegant, curving lines that emphasize proportion, making it much more graceful than typical rock carvings. The area around the second reclining Buddha on Phu Po offers breathtaking panoramic views, making it a perfect spot for relaxation. An annual celebration honoring the reclining Buddha is held every April. The Khon Kaen to Kalasin trip was excellent! However, I didn't rent a car with Trip.com because it was expensive, so I used a local service instead. It was much better and I'll definitely use their service again next time.

The shop has received awards for excellent reviews from LINEMAN and WONGNAI for three consecutive years, from 2024, 2025, and 2026. ☕️ The atmosphere makes it easy to relax and lose track of time. It feels like enjoying a leisurely coffee at home, without rushing, as it's a coffee roastery. Therefore, they sell light roast, medium roast, and blended ground coffee at 380 baht per 200 grams of ground coffee. Most of the coffee beans are sourced from Doi Chang in northern Thailand. ☕️ The coffee beans used for brewing and selling include light and medium roasts, processed using various methods such as Honey process, Washed process, and Natural process. This is because coffee processing and blending are arts and sciences unique to each individual, allowing them to create flavors for customers to enjoy. Behind the coffee counter are shelves displaying glasses, cups, pitchers, and matcha tea bowls. I ordered a hot medium roast espresso with low acidity for 80 baht. I still found it too acidic for my taste. Perhaps the Honey process would reduce the acidity and be just right for me.
