Kalaw
Kalaw is located at an altitude of 1,300 m above sea level in central Myanmar. The town is situated in the Taunggyi area, east of Inle Lake. You can get here by train as there is a railway station. The city was founded by the British as a holiday destination for the officials and officers. The climate in Kalaw is mild, so wealthy locals had begun to come to the city for recreation after the formation of Burma. Today, there are many excursions around the city to get acquainted with the lifestyle and traditions of the people of Myanmar and visit the ancient monasteries. Walking routes to Inle Lake that last for several days are quite popular. Along the way, tourists stop in the villages of local ethnic minorities Danu, Palaung, Pa'O, and others to learn about their way of life, which has remained unchanged for centuries.

🍀 If you love nature, you will love this hotel.
This is not a five-star hotel, more like a family home. Staff are polite and they are willing to facilitate most of my requests. Instead of staying in a hotel, I felt like I was visiting my relative’s home. The weather is so good in kalaw. I stayed in this Hotel for 3 nights Comfy beds, quiet environment. Situated on the hillside of small-town Kalaw and can see the pine forest from the hotel. Staffs are very helpful, and they welcome with big smile. I most love the fresh air and it has a beautiful garden with blooming roses and plants. It is so beautiful, and I love their bungalow room. Amazing and quiet environment to spend your holiday. Breakfast is not special, but you still can have a nice breakfast with coffee, and local Myanmar tea. Kalaw is very high above sea level and night temperature in February was between 8 to 12 C and no place in Myanmar has central heating. Make sure to bring warm clothes. The price is reasonable compared to Pine Hill Resort.
🍁 Highlights: Kalaw is a hill station in Myanmar (Burma), built by the British in colonial times, at 1,320m above sea level.

Kalaw Night Kalaw, a quaint town nestled in the Shan State of Myanmar, boasts not only its picturesque landscapes but also a unique cultural tapestry that unfolds with every step. As I embarked on a trip to Kalaw, I found myself immersed in a moment that encapsulated the essence of this charming destination.
The journey began with a crisp morning as I set out on a trek through the lush hills surrounding Kalaw. The air was infused with the scent of pine, and the soft rustle of leaves underfoot created a soothing rhythm. The trail led me through vibrant fields where locals tended to their crops, offering warm smiles and greetings that transcended language barriers.
After a few hours of traversing the undulating terrain, the landscape transformed into a panorama of terraced fields adorned with blooming wildflowers. This natural symphony, accompanied by the distant echoes of village life, painted a vivid canvas of rural serenity.
As I approached a traditional hill tribe village, the vibrant colors of the homes stood out against the green backdrop. The residents, belonging to the Palaung community, graciously welcomed me into their homes. A kind elderly woman, adorned in traditional attire, invited me to partake in a cup of locally brewed tea. The warmth of her hospitality, coupled with the robust flavors of the tea, created a sense of connection that transcended cultural differences.
In the heart of the village, I discovered a communal gathering where locals engaged in traditional dance and music. The rhythmic beats of the drums reverberated through the air, and the intricate movements of the dancers told stories of their heritage. I found myself swept up in the celebration, moving to the cadence of a culture so beautifully preserved in the heart of Kalaw.
As the sun began its descent, casting a golden hue over the landscape, I joined fellow travelers around a communal bonfire. Under the starlit sky, we shared stories and laughter, forging bonds that transcended borders. The simplicity of this moment, surrounded by the warmth of newfound friendships and the crackling of the fire, made me appreciate the richness of human connection.
The trip to Kalaw unfolded as a tapestry of experiences, weaving together the natural beauty of the landscape with the warmth of its people. #falltrip #historicallandmarks #familytrip #freehotelstay

In order to get a deeper feel of the customs of a country, we chose to walk to the town of Kalou, which is located between Dongzhi, the capital of Shan State, and the famous scenic spot of Inle Lake. Although there are only a few streets in the town, It has become a place where hikers gather. This two-day and one-night experience, for a little visual fatigue, we say goodbye to all kinds of stupas, more feelings are rural style, and warm, hospitable, simple and kind. Country friends, I want to use all the good adjectives to describe this experience.
