Kapit & Song, small towns in Sarawak, East Malaysia. From Sibu, it is about 2hours drive to Song, 3hours drive to Kapit. You can also get there by speedboat. Majority bumiputera (Iban ethnic), followed by Malay and Chinese. There are a lot of "rumah panjang" (longhouses), some are still remain traditional wooden building, some are rebuilt with modern style. You can found a lot of small kopitiam in the shop houses here, which are always crowded. They enjoyed chit-chatting, with kopi / teh & kuih-muih, which is one of the "cultures" of Ibans. Was visiting Kapit just before Mco. sitting on the upper river of Rejang River. A small bustling town, where most of the population here are Iban. A remembrance of my good friend and also Gawai Festival is coming up on 1st and 2nd of June. Longhouses are the proud tradition of Dayak. lots of Tuak “locally fermented alcohol” are served. Bamboo rice with chicken and pork are also aplenty. The friendliness of longhouse occupants unparalleled. Iban in Sarawak also boasts it famous Hollywood son in Henry Goulding, who proudly shares its origin to the iban ethnicity. The mighty river of Rejang also bears most of it food sources rich in fishes and local grown black Olive. Empurau Fish is also one of the most exquisite and expensive fish in the world. #travellerswonderland A public open space with some events held once in a while. Situated at the centre of the town & just across the road from the express boat terminal to the upriver towns and villages ( not to be confused with the one serving downriver to the town of Sibu situated nearby). Can get crowded occasionally but most of the time it's empty and provide a good place to sit down & relax while absorbing the atmosphere of this small town.

#travellerswonderland This is one of the good place to have a walk in Kapit. Location not far from the town. Plus, you can wall on the flat terrain and uphill/downhill terrain as well! Keep the area clean folks! Lily is a great place to take a break to take the children to play on weekends. The place is safe, close to the hospital and police station. Park with basic exercises equipments. Enjoy the scenery, cleanliness.
