Central Mongolia is a place rich in culture and of course, it has breathtaking landscapes and steppes.
Getting There - I went to Central Mongolia area with a local driver and tour guide part of my tour.
Attractions -
1. Erdene Zuu Monastery
This is the earliest surviving Buddhist monastery in Mongolia. You can check out the unique architecture style of tibetian buddhist temples. There is a golden stupa outside the temple.
2. Karakorum
This used to be the capital of Mongol empire in the 1200s. You can visit the museum here to learn about history of ancient Mongolia and Mongol empire. This is part of the World Heritage site of Orkhon valley.
Accomodation - Part of the highlight is staying in the traditional Mongolian ger (yurt). Camping experience was one of a kind and very traditional. There are tourist camps here with toilets.
Food - You might need to buy raw ingredients and cook yourself outdoor here or in the tourist camp kitchen.

💗Other Tips:
In 1220, during the reign of Genghis Khan, the capital was moved from Qudao Alan (the first nomadic capital of the Mongol Empire) to this location and a new capital was built. However, it wasn't until 1235, when Ögedei Khan built defensive walls around Kharkhorin, that it became the true capital of the new empire. The ancient capital city suffered severe damage during the succession war between Kublai Khan and Ariq Böke in 1260.
Kharkhorin went through the periods of the Great Mongol State, Yuan Dynasty, Northern Yuan, Tatars, and Oirats, and gradually fell into ruin after the Oirats.
Erdene Zuu Monastery, also known as the Glorious Monastery, is a famous Gelugpa Tibetan Buddhist monastery located in Kharkhorin, Övörkhangai Province, Mongolia. The building materials for Erdene Zuu were all taken from the ruins of the ancient city of Kharkhorin.
On December 29, 2022, Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh signed a presidential decree announcing the reconstruction of Kharkhorin city, with a planned population of about 500,000, and considering relocating some national administrative institutions and other units from the capital Ulaanbaatar.
For miles, tall grass ripples in the breeze, bending towards hazy mountains beneath a boundless sky. On the horizon, a dot of colour appears: a solitary figure astride a horse, cloaked in a brightly patterned Mongolian robe, the steppe stretching out around him.
The image is Mongolian lore brought to life: the horse, with its deep connection to Mongolian history, and the deel, or traditional dress, recognisable for its links to nomadic life. Here, white gers, the traditional round tent dwelling, pop up in the distance, only to disappear again as their occupants move on, their only trace a dulled patch in the grass. For this is also an image of modern-day Mongolia, one of the few remaining strongholds of nomadism. Mongolia is a country constantly bridging tradition and modernity, keeping a firm hold on its history and ways of living while taking its place on the global stage.

Three Museums in the Ancient City of Karakorum, Mongolia
The museums in Karakorum are modest in size, allowing for a quick yet informative visit. The excavation site, which was once open to the public, was inexplicably filled back in, though its historical significance remains.
Within the Karakorum Museum, a highlight is the toy house, which provides an intriguing glimpse into the past, showcasing a variety of toys that were popular among Mongolians.
The Chaidamu Memorial Museum is dedicated to preserving artifacts from the Turkic period. Notable among these are two stone tablets inscribed with Chinese characters, which serve as a testament to the extensive cultural exchanges that took place between different nations during that era.
Mongolia nomad life
This is my first experience staying in Mongolia and stayed with nomad family . I chose to stay with them instead of staying in a comfortable hotel.
They welcome me with milk tea and candies.Very kind family who are surviving in a peaceful environment .Everyday life surrounded with animals ❤️.No TV and internet connection most of the time ,and life is still busy with non stop working with animals, cooking ,housekeeping and daily tasks .
At first ,i thought it will be just learning about their culture. At the end i learned a lot of things from them.
From making butter , cheese ,cookies, yogurt and wine from milk.
Squeezing milk from cows also another knowledge i learned from them, they will let the calf suck the milk first, before manually squeezing the milk out from cows. This will maximise the milk let down.
In the evening ,all the animals will be back to their shuttle. The normad will ride the motorbike and guide them back to their own individual shelter.
Early morning ,all this animals will be released to nature looking for foods after milking by nomads.
Really appreciate they give me a chance to wear their costumes as well.Hopefully i will be back again to Mongolia .#kharkhorin Mongolia

Tips and Tricks⁉️
📶SIM - if you want the best coverage all through the country Mobicom SIM should be your choice. In Ulaanbaatar go to TEDY (mobile phone shopping center) with your passport and they will cater the SIM to your needs.
🚌Ulaanbaatar › Kharkhorin:
In Ulaanbaatar go to the Dragon Bus Terminal (Автовокзал Драгон) there's only one direct bus a day. Departure time is 11:00. There are later buses that pass through Kharkhorin as well, but the drop-off point won't be Kharkhorin's bus station.
🗺️Download app called Maps.me it has more detailed maps and roads shown than Google. Great help especially in finding any kind of footpath.
🏞️If you decide to visit Great Mongolia Monument (Maps.me)/ Monument for Mongol States (Google maps) you can go downhill from the monument towards the Orkhon river. It is a marvel to see - winding river bed, grazing horses and cattle, eagles flying in search for a pray. Pure beauty of Mongolian nature.
🖌️Erdene Zuu Monastery is one of "Must see" places in Kharkhorin. While visiting it, pay attention to the craftsmen and artists - their work is mesmerizing. Intricate free hand writings and drawings are too good to be left on the shelves of the artist.
Enjoy!💛💚💙
