During my trip to Kagoshima, I visited Onami Pond. This is a place I am so incredibly glad I went to...! 🥹✨ You have to hike to get to Onami Pond, and it's quite a serious walk—more than I expected. There were definitely moments along the way where I caught myself thinking, "Are we there yet?!" lol But the breathtaking view waiting for me made me forget all that exhaustion the second I laid eyes on it. Mountains sprawling around the massive pond, surrounded by endless nature. It wasn't too crowded either, so it was amazing to just walk through the quiet mountains and listen to the sounds of nature 🌿 It’s a place where you can truly immerse yourself in the feeling of "being in nature," something that's hard to experience in everyday life. Pushing through the hike made the sense of achievement upon reaching the top all the more rewarding 🥹 If you're ever in Kagoshima, I highly recommend making time to visit. The exterior of KAI Kirishima isn't the flashy kind of luxury that catches your eye instantly; instead, it's a beauty that slowly seeps into your heart. The entire hotel is built into the mountainside. The rooms overlook the rolling mountain ranges of Kirishima. The moment you draw back the curtains, the quietness is just right, and the sweeping views are absolutely spectacular. There's a hint of mist in the air, along with the faint scent of hot springs. The pace of life here is wonderfully slow. Soaking in the hot springs morning and night, gazing at the mountains, and just zoning out— time feels as though it has been deliberately made weightless. When the lights dim at night, the whole space softens, and even the sounds become incredibly gentle. Kirishima, where the myth of "Tenson Korin," the descent of the gods, lives on. Hoshino Resorts Kai Kirishima is located halfway up Mount Takachiho, where the myth lives on.
