[Cottage Seaside Teyui] The moment we entered the room, we were both excited to say that this was our favorite villa ever! ! lol On the first floor, there was a Western-style living room and a twin bedroom. On the second floor, there was a Japanese-style bedroom and another tatami room. And what we were most looking forward to in this villa was the jacuzzi and the view overlooking the ocean. We spent the whole day drinking champagne in this jacuzzi and chatting away. It was the season for stink bugs, so we had a high chance of encountering them, but it was such a wonderful villa with such a beautiful view and jacuzzi that we didn't even notice. There are many bedrooms, so it's a great place for two generations or a group of friends. Day 7 (Wednesday, March 19, 2025) Kochi - Yusu Sightseeing: Kochi Station South Plaza / Yusu Handake Port Movable Bridge. Take the JR Dosan Line from Kochi Station directly to the Tosa Kuroshio Railway Asa and Nahari Lines, arriving at Yusu Station, and spend an hour exploring Yusu. Yusu is a district in Konan City, Kochi Prefecture, Japan, formerly known as Yusu Town. Notable attractions in the Yusu area include the Handake Port Movable Bridge, Yusu Station Front Park, and Roadside Station. Figures 1-6: Yusu Handake Port Movable Bridge; The Yusu Handake Port Movable Bridge is located in the Handake Inner Port of Yusu Town, Konan City, Kochi Prefecture, Japan, and is one of the oldest man-made port facilities in Japan. · Basic Information: This bridge was completed in 2002 with a construction cost of approximately 2.13 billion yen. The movable section is 32.8 meters long, and its usual tilt angle is about 70 degrees. · Design Purpose: Since the local waterway is a key route with frequent ship traffic, and with the increase in automobiles, land traffic is also important. However, the surrounding environment is unsuitable for building a very tall bridge, so a movable bridge was designed. The bridge lifts when ships pass and lowers for vehicle traffic when no ships are present. · Operation Time: The bridge is lowered for vehicle traffic for about 7 hours daily on average, and it takes only 6 minutes to move from the lowered to the vertical position. · Popularity: The bridge’s unique design went viral online and has appeared in car commercials, becoming one of Kochi Prefecture’s signature attractions. During our stay in Yusu from 9:00 to 10:00, it happened to be one of the six periods when the Handake Port Movable Bridge was lowered for vehicle traffic, so we missed the full process of the bridge opening and closing. It is a popular internet check-in spot. · Port Ruins: The original excavation structure and breakwaters are preserved, allowing visitors to experience the Edo period port landscape. Nonaka Kaneyama made outstanding contributions to civil engineering, with Handake Port being one of his representative works. To prevent sand drift from burying the harbor, the port is connected to the inner harbor by a narrow channel and has a long breakwater on the south side, a technique of historical value. In June 1997, local knowledgeable people erected the monument in the inner harbor of Yusu Handake Port to commemorate Nonaka Kaneyama’s achievements. The monument not only praises his port construction accomplishments but also witnesses the development of one of Japan’s earliest man-made excavated harbors. Figure 20: Kawamura Masutaro Commemorative Monument; This monument is located in the inner harbor of Yusu Handake Port and was erected to honor Kawamura Masutaro’s contributions to the port’s restoration. The monument was established around 1997, initiated by local knowledgeable people. Kawamura Masutaro is known for his port restoration work, applying traditional sand prevention wisdom in the restoration of Yusu Handake Port, optimizing the channel and breakwater to ensure navigation and preserve the port’s historical appearance. The monument commemorates his efforts in protecting the port and is an important symbol of local port restoration and historical heritage.

I met up with a friend at the cycling terminal and set off for Aki's Shirasu Donburi. 🚲 It had been a while since I last rode a bike, so I was a little nervous, but the greenery and ocean views along the way were beautiful, and the ride under the clear skies was incredibly pleasant. ✨ The cool, refreshing breeze through the tunnels along the way was a delight. ☺️ The Shirasu Donburi I had was absolutely delicious, and it completely blew away all my fatigue. 🐟 On the way back, I enjoyed some grilled eggplant ice cream to recharge my slightly tired body. It was a day that refreshed my soul while surrounded by nature. 🌿

#Ho-kang-su If you want to go by public transportation from Kochi Airport, you have to take a limousine bus to Kochi Station, then take the private railway to nearby Noichi Station, and then walk for 15 minutes. It also takes 1 hour and a half. If you take a taxi from the airport, it will drop you off at the hotel entrance in 15 minutes. The fare is about 2,000 yen, so there is only a 500 yen difference, and you will arrive 1 hour early. You can travel comfortably by taxi. When checking in, the manager will give you information about the Revival Coupon Card and give you a 4,000 yen prepaid card. If you complete the online registration and activate it yourself, you can use it right away. Depending on the accommodation plan, it should be a coupon card plan like the QUO card, but thanks to the kind manager's small consideration, I was able to enjoy two meals a day and a hot spring for 5,000 yen.🙏 The hotel is located next to a bypass road similar to the Korean ring road. The view from the room is the road, the railway, and the vinyl house. You can see the ocean far across the horizon, so we'll go for the ocean view. 🤣 We'll check in late, so we'll have dinner first. It's a two-tiered bento set meal, and it's said to be made only with Kochi Prefecture specialties. We'll taste Shimanto butasuteki, Kochi katsu otadaki, and Kuroshio shrimp fry. We'll take a hot spring. It's a sento for local residents. Even at 10 p.m., there are dozens of local residents. There was an electric bath, surprisingly, and it was so tingly that I didn't get electrocuted. It was a little scary. We'll calm our surprised hearts with bottled milk and go to sleep. Heading to Kochi Airport from Tokyo. The Haneda-Kochi flight gate was changed to the wing terminal two hours before departure during bus transit. Thank you! 🙏 Lounge access was available as there was enough time. Although the flight departed slightly late, I arrived in Kochi in just over an hour. A taxi ride to the hotel took only 15 minutes and cost around 1,800 yen. The hotel, priced at 9,000 yen per night with two meals included, also features an onsen. If you take a limousine bus and transfer to a train, it costs 1,000 yen but takes an additional hour. In such cases, using a taxi is more reasonable. Interestingly, I received a 4,000 yen coupon card (since it was a weekday) called the Kochi Regional Revitalization Coupon. I planned where to use it for the next day. Lucky me! 🎰 This coupon plan is provided when booking (similar to QUO cards), and the hotel restaurant is one of the places where it can be used. Although I booked the breakfast and dinner plan, the manager kindly gave me the coupon to use elsewhere. After dinner, I spent some time relaxing in the countryside. The onsen here is not open in the early morning, so I planned to visit it during the night. I fell asleep, enjoying the rural atmosphere. The next morning, I woke up at the hotel in Noichi-cho, Konan City, Kochi Prefecture. Although it’s an onsen hotel, the onsen is only open from 10 AM to 11 PM, so there’s no morning onsen. It seems to serve as a public bath for locals. After checking out and having breakfast, I realized I couldn’t connect to Wi-Fi. Then, I discovered I had left my bag in the room after checking out. It had been 40 minutes! 🤣 I got the key again and retrieved my bag. The room was untouched, as cleaning seemed to be done leisurely in this rural area. The view from the window showcased a rural scene with clear views of vinyl greenhouses. I headed to Noichi Station, one of the places where the 4,000 yen coupon card could be used. I bought a One Piece merchandise item. Then, I took the Tosa Kuroshio Railway to Akaoka Station for a brewery tour and purchased two bottles of sake. This brewery was also a participating location for the coupon card, and I used the entire 4,000 yen effectively. 👏👏👏 Nearby, I visited the Ekin Museum, which I had planned to see. The artwork here depicts the Tosa Province of the Edo period, using red as the primary color. After a 45-minute solo tour, I traveled from Akaoka Station to Konan Station. At this unmanned station, a staff member approached to mark the boarding station and destination on the ticket. They manually wrote the date and serial number on paper tickets, which are sold for cash only. The rural private railway ride took 15 minutes and cost 410 yen. 🤣 Previously, when I stayed near Nahari, I used the All Shikoku Rail Pass and didn’t notice these details. From Konan Station to Tokushima Station, I took the JR Limited Express, transferring midway. Previously, I used the rail pass and didn’t pay attention to the fare, but this time, it cost over 5,000 yen. Transportation in Shikoku is quite expensive. In Tokushima, I noticed that the line for Gyoza no Ohsho was longer than for Tokushima ramen shops. ^^ I also had lunch at my favorite Gyoza no Ohsho. The limousine bus to Tokushima Airport costs 600 yen, making it the cheapest among limousine buses. It takes about 35 minutes, but IC cards are not accepted. Tickets must be purchased from vending machines, and seating is unreserved. At both the airport and station, announcements suggest taking a taxi if tickets are sold out. 🤣 At Tokushima Airport, I spent time in the lounge before departing on time without delays. The aircraft was the same new A321 model as the one to Kochi. 👍 During the flight, I enjoyed a beverage service and took a short nap. An announcement mentioned that Mount Fuji was visible. Through the clouds, Mount Fuji appeared. For the remaining 20 minutes before reaching Tokyo, I admired the view of Mount Fuji. I was lucky to capture both the Izu Peninsula and Mount Fuji in one glance. A grandmother seated next to me was moved to tears, saying it was her first time seeing Mount Fuji so clearly at the age of 73. She handed me her phone, and I took several photos for her. She repeatedly thanked me, explaining that she was on her way to her son’s home in Yokohama, carrying various items. Leaving the emotional sight of Mount Fuji behind, we landed at Haneda. While the departure bus wasn’t great, the arrival bus dropped us off right at the exit, which was convenient. I returned to Tokyo after a well-spent 2-day, 1-night trip to Shikoku. Thank you.

Kochi Prefecture's "Temuko Port Movable Bridge" is a private attraction I discovered while hiking the Shikoku Pilgrimage. The bridge is about 32 meters long and opens and closes in about 6 minutes after the sound. I was lucky to arrive at 11:55 and observed the front and back. We immediately found the best position for time-lapse recording and waited for the bridge rising show at 12 o'clock. I stayed here as a set with Kochi Kuroshio Country Club Play. Although Ryoma no Yu♨️ has separate entrances for guests staying at the hotel and for those visiting the hot springs, it seems that many locals come just for the hot springs. It's a nice hot spring, but there are a lot of people bathing and the opening hours are short. So I was disappointed that I couldn't take a morning bath. I can't say the food was particularly tasty.
