KURU MERU
Visiting Kuru Meru Cafe and Studio in Kurume, Japan, was an experience that beautifully combined creativity with comfort. Located in a lively part of the city, the cafe exudes a welcoming, artistic vibe that immediately sets it apart from the more typical cafe. The interior is thoughtfully designed, blending modern and artistic elements, with colorful murals, unique furniture, and a spacious layout that encourages guests to relax and appreciate the atmosphere. The open studio space adds to the charm, creating an environment where art, coffee, and conversation come together seamlessly.
The menu at Kuru Meru Cafe and Studio is a delightful mix of fresh, local ingredients with a creative twist. I chose to try one of their signature lattes, and it was a great choice. The coffee had a smooth, rich flavor with a slight sweetness, and it was evident that the baristas took care in preparing each drink. Along with my latte, I also had a light snack – a freshly baked pastry with a hint of matcha. It was light yet flavorful, and the perfect complement to the coffee.
What really makes Kuru Meru stand out, however, is its unique fusion of art and cafe culture. The studio space within the cafe features local artists' works, giving visitors the opportunity to explore the creativity of the community while enjoying their meals. It was inspiring to see art displayed throughout the space, and it created a lively, dynamic atmosphere that encouraged reflection and creativity. The cafe’s concept of combining a space for both eating and creating is refreshing and offers something special that is not found in many other places.
The service was another highlight of my visit. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, ensuring that every customer felt taken care of. They were quick to explain the menu and offered suggestions based on my preferences. The staff's warmth and hospitality truly added to the overall positive experience.
In conclusion, Kuru Meru Cafe and Studio in Kurume is a fantastic destination for those looking for a unique cafe experience that blends great food, exceptional coffee, and a vibrant artistic environment. Whether you're visiting for the coffee, the art, or simply the peaceful atmosphere, this cafe offers a refreshing break from the ordinary. I look forward to visiting again and exploring more of what Kuru Meru has to offer.
Koura Shrine, once one of the highest-ranked shrines in Japan
Koura Shrine, located at the western end of the Mino Mountain Range at an altitude of 312 meters, was once one of the highest-ranked shrines in Japan. It is the first palace of Chikugo. The creation of Koura Tamataru Shrine is said to have been in the first year of Emperor Richu (400 AD), and in 897 it was granted the highest rank of Shoichii. As a Myojin Taisha (a shrine that enshrines famous gods) registered in the Engishiki Jinmyocho, it holds a very high status. If your schedule allows, it is highly recommended to stay here from evening to night, enjoying the beautiful and endless Chikugo sunset, and then appreciate the surreal and indescribable night view where the ancient and modern blend together, with the red torii, the glowing lanterns on both sides of the stone steps, and the distant modern city lights merging into one. It is definitely worth a visit.

🔖From 8500 yen
A concept hotel that opened in Kurume.
I had a girls' night out with friends♡
The room I stayed in had a collagen machine
Other rooms also have a hyperbaric oxygen room,
steam sauna, dry sauna, and
various other facilities that seem fun!
There seems to be a private sauna on the rooftop as well.
It's nice that you can enjoy your favorite shampoo in your room,
and that alcohol and drinks are all-you-can-drink.
The food is also substantial, and the omelet rice is popular.
There was a selection like a family restaurant,
with hamburgers, curry, and more.

The pumpkin pudding was a limited 'cat ver.' for the day, and my cat-loving friend ordered without hesitation✨
I had the nut cheesecake✨
We shared a bite each, but it was really delicious✨

Sacred Serenity: Gokoku Shrine Journey
#2024wish
Amidst the tranquil beauty of Fukuoka Prefecture, I embarked on a memorable journey to Gokoku Shrine. Nestled in the heart of Chuo Ward, the shrine exuded serenity with its towering torii gates and ancient charm. The air was imbued with a sense of reverence as I explored the sacred grounds, adorned with lush greenery. The peaceful ambiance and intricate details of the shrine left an indelible mark on my soul.
As sunlight filtered through the trees, casting a gentle glow on the sacred grounds, I felt a profound connection to the spiritual energy surrounding me. In 2024, I wish to go there again, to bask in the timeless tranquility and seek solace amidst the sacred beauty that is Gokoku Shrine.
Zendoji Serenity: Timeless Tranquility Beckon
#2024wish
In the heart of Nakagofukumachi, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka, lies the serene Zendoji Temple, a haven of Pure Land Buddhism. As I stepped onto its grounds, the air carried whispers of ancient teachings, and the temple's rich history unfolded through the wooden statues and artifacts from the Muromachi and Edo periods. The tranquility of the place, protected by the Ouchi and Kuroda Clans, left an indelible mark on my soul. Among the treasures, the boat's anchor stone and the resonant bonsho bell echoed tales of centuries past. In 2024, I wish to go there again, to bask in the wisdom of Zendoji and relive the spiritual journey that lingers in my memories.
