My 1-Day Logroño Itinerary
Some cities blow you away with massive monuments.
Then there are those that just make you feel right at home.
Logroño is definitely the latter...
The capital of La Rioja surprised me with a rare combination: a charming historic center that isn't overcrowded, affordable prices, incredible food, and a relaxed vibe.
There’s no need to rush from site to site. Honestly, getting lost in the narrow streets is all part of the fun.
Here is my itinerary:
09. 30 — HISTORIC QUARTER
Start your morning with a walk through the historic center. It’s compact enough to explore mostly on foot.
10. 00 — CHURCH OF SANTIAGO
Make your first stop at the Church of Santiago and keep wandering through the old town. Since Logroño is part of the Way of Saint James (Camino de Santiago), you’ll see pilgrims everywhere.
11. 00 — PLAZA DE LA CONSTITUCIÓN
A great spot to take a break and soak in the city’s atmosphere.
11. 30 — CUBOS DEL REVELLÍN
Head over to the remains of Logroño's ancient medieval walls.
12. 30 — RIVERSIDE STROLL
Walk down toward the Ebro River and explore the areas around the bridges. It’s one of the nicest places for a walk and offers a different perspective of the city—plus, it’s a perfect photo op.
14:00 — LUNCHTIME
This is where the best part of the day begins: tapas (pinchos) + Riojan cuisine + local wine. What more could you ask for?
In my opinion, you don't need to look for a fancy restaurant. The charm lies in hopping from bar to bar and trying different specialties. Long live the pintxos!
16:00 — LEISURELY STROLL
After lunch, take it slow as you head back toward the center. Browse the shops, grab a coffee or ice cream, or just enjoy the streets.
18:00 — A FINAL GLASS OF RIOJA
End the day the right way: with a good Rioja wine and some local bites.
One thing I loved: you don't have to break the bank to eat well here.
Compared to other Spanish cities, Logroño felt much more affordable.
Thinking about ONE DAY OR MORE?
One day is enough to see the city's main highlights.
However, if you want to use Logroño as a base to discover the La Rioja region, it’s worth staying longer to explore the vineyards, wineries, and surrounding villages.
Here is my personal ranking:
Cleanliness: 5/5
Sights: 4/5
Prices: 5/5
Walkability: 5/5
Experience: 4.5/5
FINAL RATING: 4.7/5
The truth is, Logroño doesn't need to compete with Madrid, Barcelona, or Seville.
Its charm lies in something else: walking slowly, eating well, drinking excellent Rioja, and enjoying a city that still moves at its own local pace.
