Trip to Faro, Portugal 🇵🇹
It was a trip to Faro, Portugal 🇵🇹 I have been to many places in Portugal but this is my first time to Faro.
On the first day, we visited Faro's historic center, starting with Faro Cathedral. The building and surrounding was very beautiful and worth to visit.
Sé Catedral de Faro
📍Largo da Sé, 8000-138 Faro, Portugal.
We also explored the very famous Arco da Vila (Town Arch) which once served as the entrance to the city. We also stroll along the Ria Formosa, a coastal lagoon that has shaped Faro's history.
Town Arch
📍R. do Municipio, 8000-168 Faro, Portugal,
📍 Av. da República, 8000-078 Faro, Portugal.
We also discovered the history of Faro at the Municipal Museum of Faro and took a trip to the Faro Archaeological Museum (Museu Arqueológico de Faro) to learn about the region's ancient civilizations.
Museu Municipal de Faro)
📍Largo Dom Afonso III, 8000-167 Faro, Portugal.
Faro Archaeological Museum
📍Largo Dom Afonso III, 8000-167 Faro, Portugal,
Just to highlight, we had one of our meal at the most Faro's traditional restaurants, Restaurante Adega Nova. The food and service were both very good and I would really recommend you guys to try. The price is considered reasonable 🙌🙌🙌
Restaurante Adega Nova
📍R. do Alportel 7, 8000-281 Faro, Portugal.
We also visited Ilha Deserta (Deserted Island)🏝️ by ferry from Faro. We got to enjoy the pristine beaches and stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. We also took a boat tour of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, departed from Faro's marina. We watched the sunset 🌅 from Faro's waterfront promenade, overlooking the Ria Formosa. The view was beautiful and definitely worth to visit.
We also headed to Praia de Faro, the main beach in Faro, and spent the morning soaking up the sun and swimming in the clear waters. We explored the rugged coastline of the Algarve region by taking a guided tour along the scenic EN125 coastal road. We also stopped at viewpoints like Ponta da Piedade near Lagos for breathtaking vistas 😍😍😍
We also explored picturesque villages like São Brás de Alportel and discovered hidden gems nestled among the rolling countryside. We visited the Algarve's highest point, Foia, near the town of Monchique, for panoramic views of the region. Fortunately, it was a clear day, and we were able to see all the way to the coastline.
We then returned to Faro and unwind with a leisurely stroll through the Jardim Manuel Bivar, a lovely park in the city center overlooking the marina. On the last day, we headed to back Lisbon and ended our trip.

Coastline of the town Lagos
#celebratewithtrip
Ponta da Piedade is a headland with a group of rock formations along the coastline of the town of Lagos, in the Portuguese region of the Algarve.
You can walk from Lagos town to here for around 3.6 kilometers 48 minutes, but i took the Lagos tourists train to save my energy for the remaining walk.
Consisting of yellow-golden cliff-like rocks up to 20 meters high, they are one of the most famous tourist attractions of Portugal. Several grottos in Ponta da Piedade can be visited by boat ( depending on the wave ).
The tourist train stopped in front of the 1913 lighthouse, then you followed the newly built boardwalk. There are also a set of nearly 200 stairs that take you down to the bottom for a different perspective.
Boat Trip to Benagil Caves
#celebratewithtrip
Marina de Lagos is one of the gateways for the boat trip to Benagil Caves, which is around 40 kilometers 40 minutes drive from Lagos. The boat, is also around there.
On the way, you will get to see the beautiful algarve coastline with magnificent cliffs. The boat company will provide raincoats ( water will spray ) for every passenger on board and have to put on a lifejacket and safety belt.
The boat will speed up toward the Benagil Caves in around 40 minutes, when they reach, they will explain the name and information of the cliffs, places, and beaches. The whole boat trip lasted around 2 hours.
For the Benagil Caves, if you want to take the picture with hole on top, you need to go kayaking or board swimming and land on the beach, for a boat ride it is impossible to see the whole hole.
Lagos boat trip
#celebratewithtrip
The Marina de Lagos is situated in the Bays of Lagos, at Ribeira de Bensafrim, Algarve region, Portugal. The Marina was opened in 1994, more than 40 000 boats have visited this beautiful harbour.
The Marina de Lagos is a popular tourist attraction with a picturesque promenade, with stalls selling their local handicrafts products.
Lagos train station is only 300 meters 4 minutes walk.
Access to the yachting marina is via a footbridge, which lifts to allow taller vessels entry to the marina.
Most visitors come here, to participate in the boat trips around benagil caves, ponta da piedade, dolphin and many more.
There are restaurants and cafes for you to have something to eat or drink before or after the boat trips.
Golden Tourist Train
#celebratewithtrip
Lagos like other resorts on the Algarve and Spain ( Mallorca) has a tourist train that makes an hourly loop between Lagos town center and outlying beaches.
Lagos tourists trains are carried out by experienced and delicate professionals, committed to showing in a fun, comfortable and safe way the charm of the city and beaches. The price is €4 for one ride, €5.50 for one day, unlimited hop on and off.
There are nine stops along the way, starting at Marina de Lagos till all the way to Meia Praia ( that is around 3.5 kilometers away ).
I personally find that the 3rd stop is useful, Ponta da Piedade, because the walk from Marina de Lagos is 3.6 kilometers 50 minutes ( some parts uphill ). The rest 6-9 are mainly beaches.
and the surroundings
#celebratewithtrip
Forte da Ponta da Bandeira stands on the srafront of the old town of Lagos on the Algarve along the Avenida dos Descobrimentos. The fortress was constructed in the 17th century and is entered through a drawbridge over the moat. The picturesque fort now houses a small museum on Portugal's maritime history in particular the Age of Discovery.
Porta de Sao Gonçalo just opposite Forte da Ponta da Bandeira, the doors are flanked by two Albarra towers, it is one of the city gates built together with a belt of walls with military and security purposes.
The Arch of Sao Gonçalo indicates the site of the saint's birthplace, Sao Goncalo was born in the house, in the exact spot where his niche and statue can now be found.
Restaurant food with decent price
#celebratewithtrip
Adega da Marina is located in Av. dos Descobrimentos 35, 8600-645, Lagos, Portugal, and is open daily from 1200-2300. The restaurant is just opposite the marina on the main road, 300 meters 5 minutes walk from the Lagos Central bus station.
The restaurant offers a wide range of food selection, Seafoods, Mediterranean, European and Portuguese cuisine. They have a huge hall, with a live soccer match when i dine in.
I had ordered a BBQ Pork Rib and grill squids. They serve it fast, and the portion is also Ok. Food tastes good with a decent price. They also have a variety of fish for you to choose in the fridge.
Pizza Hut
#spooktaculartrip
It is located at Marina de Lagos, Lojas 24 a 27, 8600-780 Lagos, Portugal, and is open daily from 1230-0000.
Halloween is a holiday celebrated each year October 31, activities or sale of the items regarding the festival will start throughout the month of October.
Pizza Hut had their shop decorated with spooky white web on their lamps, walls, counters, skeletons with spiders on top, white witches hanging and stickers on their service counter and glass panel.
If they can have their food served as a spooky way, or bloody drinks included in their menu, that will be perfect.
Halloween Display on Shelf
#spooktaculartrip
Centro Optic is located in Av. dos Descobrimentos 45, 8600-645 Lagos, Portugal is open Monday to Saturday from 1000-1300 and 1600-1900, off on Sunday.
Halloween is a holiday celebrated each year October 31, activities or sale of the items regarding the festival will start throughout the month of October.
Centro Optic had their display shelves decorated with spooky items, like witches, skeletons, spiders and webs along with their spectacle during the Halloween festival.
A charming town in the south of Portugal, a sunny holiday in Lagos
Lagos is a popular tourist town in the south of Portugal. It is located in the west of Faro, the capital of the Algarve. It has a population of about 30,000 and is surrounded by thousands of people. It is famous for its magnificent coastline. Lagos still retains the historical imprint of the era of great discoveries, and the Moorish and Renaissance cultures have also profoundly affected the development of Lagos.
Today Lagos is a fine tourist town. The central Prince Enrique Square is a beautiful and historic square. Every visitor to Lagos passes through here. The square is small. The towns main street, full of restaurants and cafs, looks great in the sun.
At the end of the square is the Cathedral of St. Anthony, rebuilt in 1769, the appearance of the church seems inconspicuous, but the interior is magnificent. There is also a small museum in the church that mainly understands the history of slave trade at the time. When we arrived, the museum was being repaired and could not be visited. The church requires a ticket of 3 and a museum package of 5 per person.
Forte da Ponta da Bandeira is located near the promontory of the south-east of Lagos, just a few steps from the Enrique Square in the city centre. It was built in 1679-1690 in a square
The Avenue Market is the largest fish market in Lagos, located in the northeast of the Old Town, just 10 minutes from the train station. Facing the town harbour, it is an important shopping and dining venue. Friends who want to buy local fresh seafood must come here every morning in order to get good seafood.
Finally, you can check out Gil E Anish Square and Carmons Square on the main road of the Old Town. This is the two squares with the most concentrated business and dining in the old town. Tourists are like clouds, coming and going.
Located at Cape Pedade, southwest of Lagos, the coastal town of Algarve in Portugal, you can see the hustle and bustle of the Atlantic coast.
There are many huge and colorful coke rocks around the entire Cape. They have experienced the storms and the erosion of the waves. Under the stream of years, they have formed caves of various sizes, with mineral elements in the lime layer. Sunlight reflections have created this fantasy world.
On the way to the bus, you can see the blue sea that is fascinating, the sky and the sky, and the strange rocks, the yacht is making waves on the blue sea. It is refreshing.
Street Art-Lagos -Algarve - Portugal

Beautiful Algarve 🇪🇸
#traveldiaries
My vacation in the Algarve, Portugal, was nothing short of amazing! 🏖️ This region is a paradise with its golden beaches, rugged cliffs, and charming towns. I spent a lot of time in *Lagos*, where the coastline is absolutely stunning. The *Ponta da Piedade* cliffs were a highlight; it's free to visit, and the views of the turquoise water against the rock formations are breathtaking. I even took a boat tour for around 20 EUR to explore the hidden caves and grottos up close, which I highly recommend!
*Praia Dona Ana* was my favorite beach – it’s surrounded by cliffs and has crystal-clear water, perfect for swimming and snorkeling. For a bit of culture, I visited the *Forte da Ponta da Bandeira*, with an entrance fee of just 2 EUR. It’s small but offers some great insights into the area's history and beautiful views from the top.
I also made a day trip to *Albufeira*, which has a lively atmosphere and great nightlife. The Old Town is full of narrow streets, with restaurants serving delicious seafood. Don’t miss trying the grilled sardines, a local specialty! 🍤
Overall, the Algarve is a fantastic mix of natural beauty, relaxation, and adventure. I’m already planning my next trip back! 🌞 #trip #Algarve #PortugalTravel #BeachParadise #ExploreAlgarve #CoastalAdventures
A bit of kayaking in Portugal 🗺️
#kayak
I recently went kayaking in the Algarve, Portugal, and it was truly a highlight of my trip! 🛶 The Algarve is famous for its stunning coastline, and seeing it from the water was an experience I’ll never forget. We started our adventure in Lagos, a charming town with a rich history and beautiful beaches. The kayak tour cost around €40, which included all the equipment and a friendly guide who knew the area like the back of his hand.
As soon as we paddled out, we were greeted by the most incredible scenery—crystal-clear waters, dramatic cliffs, and hidden caves just waiting to be explored. The highlight was definitely kayaking through the famous Benagil Cave. The moment you glide into the cave and see the sun streaming through the open ceiling, it feels like you’ve discovered a secret world. 🌞
The tour also took us along the Ponta da Piedade, where the rock formations are nothing short of breathtaking. Our guide pointed out interesting shapes in the rocks and even some hidden beaches that you can only access by boat. We stopped at one of these secluded spots for a swim, and the water was so clear and refreshing. It felt like a private paradise!
If you’re planning a visit, I’d also recommend checking out the nearby beaches like Praia Dona Ana and Praia do Camilo—they’re perfect for relaxing after your kayaking adventure. The whole area is full of charming towns, great food, and beautiful views, so there’s plenty to explore.
Kayaking in the Algarve was the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. Whether you’re a seasoned paddler or a complete beginner, this is an experience you don’t want to miss. I’m already dreaming of going back! 🏖️

Portugal Travel: Lagos
As a resort town, Lagos is renowned for its stunning coastlines and boasts the most authoritative beach certification in the world, the Blue Flag Beach, with as many as 20 in this small town! Among them, the most popular are Ponta da Piedade, Dona Ana, and Porto de Mos beaches. Ponta da Piedade is home to the most spectacular and beautiful beach in Portugal, with crystal-clear seawater and charming caves. More than 80% of visitors to Lagos gather here. There are many more places worth visiting in Lagos. Stroll along the streets of the city center to explore the charm of this ancient city. Pay attention to the stone-carved windows and doors, wrought-iron balconies, and terraces for summer cooling. Visit the Church of Santo António, whose interior is surprisingly adorned with gold carvings and tiles, depicting the image of the saint. The church is also named after this saint, who held the rank of major general, perhaps as a compliment to the fact that it was once a small chapel for the infantry. Additionally, the city museum houses a collection of interesting archaeological and religious art pieces.
Lagos, Portugal: A Sea That Forgives the World
Returning from Lagos, I felt a surge of energy. Among the European destinations I've visited, Lagos in Portugal has left the most enduring mark on me.
Transportation: Bolt offers very reasonable fares, typically around 3.5€ for distances that can be covered by car in 5 minutes or by walking in 40 minutes. The service provides options for different vehicle sizes, a feature I wish the UK would adopt.
Landmarks:
- Ponta da Piedade: The Jellyfish Beach is ideal for photography, enjoying its serene crowds. The temperature hovers around 18 degrees, and a light sweater is sufficient.
- Benagil Cave: Algar de Benagil. Accessing the cave involves a speedboat or a kayak. We arrived at 3 PM and missed the kayak opportunity, so we opted for the speedboat. The 20€ per person half-hour ride allowed us to see 6 to 8 caves, with the staff even stopping the boat for photo opportunities, making it a memorable experience.
Accommodation: The Cascade Wellness Resort stands out as a top-tier hotel among my stays. It's a wellness resort with a stunning view, perfect for sunset watching in the evening. The staff is welcoming, and the prices are fair, making it a strong recommendation!
Dining: While strolling along the coastline, I randomly selected POMODOR PIZZERIA ITALANA, where the freshly squeezed orange juice was delightful. The pizza in photo 7, recommended by the staff, had a rich, chocolate-like crust and was a crowd-pleaser. Prices are between 15 to 20 EUR per person.
Black and White Coffee Shop: Portuguese brunch is superior to British. Restaurante Prato Cheio is a local favorite where I tried Cataplana seafood rice, which was average and took some time to arrive, so I wouldn't highly recommend it.
The Portuguese are renowned for their friendliness. and a man preparing to swim kindly helped us retrieve them. If you're looking to escape the UK's weather, I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to Lagos to unwind. Just walking along the beach is a delightful experience.
Beat Beach in Portugal
#familytrips2024
Praia Dona Ana - 15 minutes walk from Lagos city - is just as spectacular as the famous Marinha, surrounded by dramatic cliffs and turquoise water and covered with soft sand.
Gorgeous beach surrounded by dynamic rock formations. Beach cabanas and umbrellas available. Stairs to the beach may be a challenge to some.
This is one of my favorite spots in Lagos! The beach is so clean and the water was cool and clear! Beautiful people everywhere!
Our dream destination is to go to Hong Kong for my family trip as Hong Kong is paradise for food lovers, offering a wide variety of culinary delights. My family will enjoy it very much.

❤Recommended reasons:
❶ The hotel is on the edge of the Atlantic cliffs with direct views
❷ The pool view is beautiful, but it's a pity that the weather is too cold, and the Chinese physique can't handle it
❸ The room balcony is super large, and it's great for sunbathing
🛏Room facilities:
The most complete hotel facilities I've stayed in throughout Spain and Portugal
🌟Service experience:
Extremely friendly, as there were no rooms temporarily available when we arrived, they offered free drinks at the bar, but actually, we arrived early
🏨Hotel environment:
Very convenient for parking if driving, free of charge
🍽Dining recommendation:
The hotel's restaurant is very delicious, it is recommended to order steak, in terms of cost-performance ratio compared to domestic, beef is the most economical.
Breathtaking Beach

Great views of the beach from the amazing new wooden walkway. Easy walking and also has steps down to the beach. Lots of parking near the steps to the beach, also a few little cafes / bars close to the beach, and even a bar on the beach.
Lovely beach stunning rock formation. The natural rock formations and clean blue water were very inviting.
Good facilities. Just breathtakingly beautiful.
