Let's share our budget for a 3-day, 2-night self-drive trip to Laos. There were 4 of us, parents, and children, traveling to Vang Vieng, Muang Pheung, and Vientiane. Let's see how much we spent.
🏡 Accommodation for 2 nights = 2,180 baht. The first night, we stayed at Angsavanh in Vang Vieng. We arrived on a weekday and chose the cheapest room for 980 baht (no extra charge for children). The room was air-conditioned, but the bathroom was shared. However, on the day we went, it was just us at the resort. Breakfast was included.
The second night, we stayed at Ang Nam Tong in Muang Pheung. We stayed in the new zone, a large room with a bathtub, and breakfast for 1,200 baht (the old zone is under beautiful trees, but the rooms are smaller). This price includes a paddle boat ride. Or go boating in the reservoir.
🫕 Food expenses = 3,500 baht. We ate 5 meals at Naked Espresso, Green Restaurant, Pull Mind, Ang Nam Tong, and PVO Vietnamese Food. Each meal cost an average of 600 baht, totaling 3,000 baht.
Two cafes, Cafe Pha Leuang and Hichillico Cafe, cost 500 baht.
🚘 Travel expenses = 1,600 baht for one tank of gas (filled up in Nong Khai) Before crossing and coming back to refill) = 1,200 baht
Tollway fee: Vientiane-Vang Vieng, Vang Vieng-Muang Phueng, Muang Phueng-Vientiane = 400 baht
🚣🏼♂️Activity fee = 920 baht, Song River paddle fee for 4 people: 800 baht, Pha Nam Sai entrance fee: 60 baht (free for children), Blue Lagoon entrance fee: 60 baht (free for children)
🎟️Border crossing fee = 525 baht, Car passport fee = 55 baht, Bridge crossing fee for 1 car = 30 baht, Car pass application fee = 60 baht, Car tax = 220 baht, Car insurance = 160 baht
🧩Internet fee = 338 baht, AIS Roaming net 3 GB for 169 baht per person (almost not enough, I recommend buying more) #Laos3Days2Nights #LaosTravelPlan #ShareLaosTravelBudget #TravelLaosByYourself #DrivingLaos
