I have been to Leeds and loved it.😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍🙈🙈#travel2026 #leeds #tripcom

#repeatdestination Leeds is more than just a shopping city — sometimes, the best discoveries are hidden in its historic buildings and local markets. 💙 ☕ Tiled Hall Café One of the prettiest cafés in Leeds! Located inside Leeds Art Gallery, the stunning tiled interior and high ceilings make it feel like you’re having coffee in a historic palace. Definitely worth stopping by, even if it’s just for the atmosphere. 🥕 Leeds Kirkgate Market A completely different vibe from the elegant café! This historic indoor market is full of local stalls, fresh produce, food and independent traders. It’s a great place to wander around and experience a more local side of Leeds. ✨ My tip: Put both places on your itinerary — one for the beautiful architecture, the other for the local atmosphere. They show two very different sides of the city! Leeds deserves more than a quick visit. Maybe next time, I’ll discover even more hidden gems. ❤️ #Leeds #LeedsUK #TiledHallCafe #LeedsKirkgateMarket #Yorkshire #UKTravel #LocalDiscoveries #RepeatDestination #TravelKOL #TravelInspiration

A Chocolate Lover’s Stop at Hotel Chocolat 🍫🤎 We stopped by Hotel Chocolat for a little sweet treat and it definitely didn’t disappoint! 🍫✨ I tried the Billionaire’s Sundae, and it was absolutely delicious — rich, chocolatey and such a lovely indulgent treat. I also picked three different chocolates, and honestly, I highly recommend trying them! 😍 Hotel Chocolat is one of my favourite places for chocolate in the UK, and the three pieces I chose were all so good. If you love chocolate, this is definitely a place worth stopping by — next time I’ll probably end up choosing even more! 🤎🍫 Tip: Try the Billionaire’s Sundae, but don’t leave without choosing a few individual chocolates too. Picking different flavours is a great way to find your favourite. #chocolatelover #chocolate #sweettreats #dessert #ukfoodie

Yorkshire pudding is totally NOT your average pudding—it’s a legit English classic and a must-try food when you’re in the UK! 🤩 It’s made from a simple batter of flour, eggs, and milk (or water), poured right into sizzling-hot oil or leftover meat drippings. The result? Puffy, light, and airy vibes with a crispy outside and a soft, hollow center. Sooo good! When I first heard about Yorkshire pudding, I legit thought it was something sweet, like the puddings we all know and love. 😂 Turns out, it’s from Northern England and was originally created to use up leftover drippings from roast meat. No dessert here—just a savory piece of heaven! Traditionally, Yorkshire pudding comes out during Sunday roast—paired with roast beef and loads of rich gravy. Sometimes, you’ll get it as a starter with onion gravy, which is literally comfort food goals. Wanna try the real deal? Head to classic British pubs or restaurants. Many spots in York, Leeds, and all around Yorkshire serve this iconic side dish. If you’re exploring Northern England, don’t skip this dish. It’s not just food—it’s the taste of tradition and surprise! #must-tryfood #localfood #thingstodo #hotdiscussions

Leeds Art Gallery has always been one of my favorites, so I was delighted to visit again. The variety of paintings, sculptures, and installations is impressive. One gallery features an exhibition called "Dinner Party," which includes paintings by Matthew Smith, modernist bronze sculptures by Jacob Epstein, and colorful assemblages by Olivia Bax that had a strangely appealing quality. This exhibition runs until 29 August 2027. I also enjoyed the "Anti-virus Sculptures" Exhibition by Garth Evans, created during the first Covid lockdown. Entry to the Art Gallery is free, though donations are appreciated.

Leeds is a city full of personality, where grand Victorian architecture, creative street art, university life, shopping, music and Yorkshire culture all come together. One of its most recognisable landmarks is the magnificent Leeds Town Hall, with its towering clock and impressive classical architecture dominating the skyline. Around the city centre, beautiful historic buildings sit alongside modern developments, giving Leeds a wonderful mixture of old and new. One of the real highlights is exploring the city’s spectacular Victorian shopping arcades. The ornate County Arcade in the Victoria Quarter is particularly impressive, with its sweeping glass roof, decorative ironwork, mosaics and beautifully restored interiors. Leeds Kirkgate Market adds another side to the city, with generations of local trading, food stalls and independent businesses, while the surrounding streets are packed with shops, cafés, restaurants and places to discover. Leeds also has a much more colourful and alternative side. Rude Studios is a brilliant example, with its striking decorated exterior becoming part of the street itself. The murals and artwork around the studio change over time, so returning can mean discovering something completely different from what was there before. That constantly changing creativity reflects Leeds perfectly — a city where street art, independent businesses, tattoo culture, music and new ideas sit comfortably beside historic architecture. The city has a huge student population too, with the University of Leeds and other universities bringing people from across Britain and around the world. The university area has its own atmosphere, with impressive historic buildings, busy cafés, pubs, music venues and nearby neighbourhoods such as Hyde Park and Headingley. Student life has helped make Leeds one of the liveliest cities in Yorkshire, particularly when it comes to nightlife, live music, arts and independent culture. There is always something happening here. Leeds has a strong sporting identity, a famous live-music scene, theatres and galleries, food festivals, markets, concerts and major events throughout the year. The city is also home to the Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds Art Gallery, Millennium Square and the waterfront around Leeds Dock, while places such as Briggate, Call Lane and the Corn Exchange each reveal a different part of the city's character. And that is perhaps what makes Leeds so interesting to photograph. Within a relatively small area you can go from an enormous civic landmark and elaborate Victorian arcade to colourful murals, quirky independent businesses and bustling modern shopping streets. By evening, the illuminated buildings and clock towers give the centre another personality entirely. Leeds is grand without being stuffy, creative without losing its history, and constantly changing while remaining unmistakably Yorkshire.#easytravelpost #slowtraveling #adventuretrips #overratedspots #underratedspots #travel2026 #travel #couplestrip #epictravelmoments

First and foremost, my opinions are influenced by my own personal travel experiences in the UK, so all the opinions are relative to my home country and are my own original thoughts! Many people think of China as being a densely populated country, filled with immense skyscrapers creating the illusion of living somewhere in the future somehow. And while this rings true for some places (Chongqing, Shanghai, Shenzhen etc), a great majority of tourists never see the vast, verdant, rural areas which make China one of the most beautifully diverse countries on the planet. One way to see this luscious Chinese oasis is to travel cross country by high-speed rail. The infrastructure of China is something to behold. Convenient, clean, punctual, stress-free, affordable- Chinese trains are everything that British trains are not. If you buy a ticket in China, you can cancel it for free up until your just before your departure time. You can change the ticket twice too, without charge, if you need to change plans. You order the ticket using your passport number, so you queue up when your gate is called and scan in with your passport. From your gate being called to getting on the train takes a maximum of 15 minutes. British trains offer online tickets, but from my experience, refunds are difficult and laborious. If you get on the wrong train or the wrong time you receive a big fine. If you miss your train, you didn't used to be able to claim it back (I'm not sure you can now either). Our train was due to leave Zhangjiagang station at 0746, and it left the station at 0746. This is not to naively say that all Chinese trains are on time every time, but late delays are a rarity. Once our train was delayed by five minutes, but the hundreds of our other journeys have been on time. To compare this to England, I can't remember the last time I caught a train that hadn't been delayed or cancelled or modified. A simple trip, from Halifax to Leeds, is consistently late for one reason or another. Both train systems are consistent, just in opposing ways! The journey from Zhangjiagang in Jiangsu to Changsha in Hunan is a collosal 723 miles (1165 kilometres). To put this into context, it's a similar distance from Land's End to John O'Groats is by car. It takes 5 hours and 47 minutes by bullet train, and cost us (two adults and two children) ¥1218/£135 in total. The UK drive would take a whopping 17 hours, in good traffic! For contrast, a train journey in the UK would take at least 22 hours, a coach 24-35 hours, plane 6-10 hours, or you could walk it in about 70 days! Walking would be the cheapest option, obviously, but pitching fees, hotel fees, food costs need to be factored in too, making it a very expensive excursion 🤣 You'd spend £150-300 on petrol, at least. UK trains are not budget friendly, costing between £100-300 per person! And, while some cheap deals exist, bus and coach travel costs way more than the China train and takes so much longer. Some trains in England are outdated, dusty and wear a pungent odour usually reserved for damp, dark underpasses in inner city areas. My memories of crowded trains with no spare seats, sitting outside the perpetually opening toilet door in stuffy uncomfortable conditions travelling from north to south in my army days, still sit unfavorably in my mind. The Chinese trains I've travelled on have been clean, free from graffiti and vandalism and are all-round pleasant places to spend hours travelling. On this train now, I have just ordered a takeaway from a station restaurant to my seat in my train carriage and a coffee from the train shop. All of the things I bought came to less than ¥120/£13, including delivery fee TO THE TRAIN! The best you can hope for in Britain for that price is a tasteless sandwich, a pack of McCoy's salt and vinegar, a snickers bar and a weak coffee heated to 258°c. But, to be honest, I'm not sure you'd even get that much for £13! The UK is a place that takes captive audience money milking extremely seriously, and the paper cups of coffee you could get for a pound in the town centre, suddenly quadruples in value on a train. Cynicism aside, this is unfortunately a true reflection of Britain and it's ever inflating (like a rich man's waistline) costs. China, on the other hand, is all for making necessities affordable for it's people and visitors to the country. My final thoughts are about the intensely beautiful scenery you encounter on a standard journey in China. You may start the journey in a built up city, fly through a rural and agricultural area, traverse mountainsides, whizz through forests of lush greenery and speed over the Yangtze river all in one journey. Don't be fooled into thinking all of China is imposing structures and tinned sardine-like crowding issues. The countryside is so picturesque, so diverse, so unexpected that the train journey is a trip in itself! Britain has some stunning views too. Coastal routes with cliff top views, mountainous terrain in Scotland and Wales and some unique architectural big city designs to keep you satisfied on a journey. Calderdale and all of Yorkshire have some truly amazing scenery which provide a feast for your eyes. Unfortunately, you also have sweary chavs talking a bit too loudly (although Chinese travellers aren't exactly quiet!!), many run down urban areas, scratched windows, constant delays, the threat of stones being thrown at the windows, drunk scallywags, dirty seats, cramped trains, benign conversation, outdated carriages, open drug use, high ticket prices, slow journeys, overpriced essentials and an altogether more stressful journey. I'm British and this post isn't to diss Britain (much), it is simply to highlight the differences between the countries and to show how it could and should be done in England, if the government actually cared for it's people! So next time you visit China, try a long distance train to another city other than Shanghai and Beijing. Absorb the absolute scenes of the countryside, enjoy the experience of travel tailored towards the consumer and open your eyes to a whole new world. A beautiful world and culture that actually works! #china #chinatravel #train #uk #transport All photos are my own, taken from a moving bullet train between Zhangjiagang and Wuhan in China.

Nestled just outside Leeds, Lotherton Hall is an absolute gem of a day out, offering a wonderful mix of history, nature, and family fun. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the stunning Edwardian country house, once home to the Gascoigne family. Stepping inside felt like travelling back in time, with beautifully preserved rooms, fascinating fashion galleries, and intriguing decorative arts exhibits that brought the estate's rich history to life. The grounds are equally spectacular. I spent a lovely afternoon wandering through the immaculate gardens, enjoying a peaceful stroll through the deer park, and admiring the charming 12th-century chapel tucked away in the corner of the estate. Wildlife World was a real treat too—it's fantastic to see so many exotic species up close, and I could tell the animals are well cared for in spacious, natural enclosures. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and clearly passionate about conservation. For families, the adventure playground is a massive hit, keeping the little ones entertained for hours. There are plenty of picnic spots scattered across the estate, making it easy to settle in for a relaxing day. The café serves delicious refreshments too, perfect for a mid-afternoon treat. Whether you're a history buff, a nature lover, or just looking for a delightful family outing, Lotherton Hall delivers on every level. It's a true Yorkshire treasure, and I can't wait to return.

There’s nothing quite like the freedom of taking to the skies, and my flying lesson at Sherburn Aero Club delivered that feeling in spades. From the moment I arrived, the friendly, professional staff put me at ease. After short briefing, my instructor guided me through the controls of the Piper PA-28, and before I knew it, I was at the helm, climbing above the Yorkshire landscape. The views were absolutely breathtaking, and the thrill of actually flying the plane was unforgettable. What truly set this experience apart, however, was that they let me bring a passenger along. Sharing the experience with my dad and seeing his face light up as we banked over the countryside and his home made it doubly special. Our instructor was knowledgeable and hilarious, making the whole journey both educational and great fun. With fantastic facilities, including a great cafe to relax in afterwards, this was a truly first-class experience. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for an adventure.

I went on the star tour yesterday and had an amazing time. Our guide, Sue, was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Walking down Main Street and seeing spots like The Woolpack and the cafe was fantastic, especially after being a fan of the show for years. There were plenty of photo opportunities and time to grab souvenirs at the end. The highlight, though, was meeting Jeff Hordley (Cain)—he was so lovely and approachable. I even got great photos and a signed Emmerdale book. Highly recommend this tour!

We had previously enjoyed the Coronation Street Tour, which was very good and informative, so we decided to give the Emmerdale Tour a try—and we were not disappointed. From the scenic drive through the grounds of Harewood House to the bus ride leading to the "secret" Emmerdale location, everything was perfectly organized. The operation ran smoothly thanks to the efficient and knowledgeable staff. Our tour guide, Michelle, was absolutely brilliant. She delivered an engaging and thoroughly informative presentation without ever sounding repetitive or dull. Her enthusiasm kept everyone interested, and she is truly a credit to the organization. The time spent walking, listening, and taking photos was about 90 minutes, and it flew by. One useful tip: make sure to wear comfortable shoes, as you’ll be walking a fair distance over various types of terrain, so comfort is key. After returning to Harewood House, we took advantage of the opportunity to explore the magnificent property, which was also an eye-opening and enjoyable experience. Overall, it was a fantastic tour, made even better by the exceptional guidance of Michelle!

First up, where’s Leeds at? Leeds is smack dab in the heart of West Yorkshire, England—just a scenic train ride away from London, Manchester, or Edinburgh. It’s the perfect blend of city hustle and classic Northern vibes! What’s Leeds famous for? This city is the real MVP when it comes to shopping (Trinity Leeds and Victoria Quarter are musts!), legendary nightlife, iconic museums like the Royal Armouries (Armouries Dr, Leeds LS10 1LT), and seriously tasty food—don’t even think about leaving before you try some street eats at Kirkgate Market (Kirkgate, Leeds LS2 7HY). And if you’re a sports fan, Elland Road (Elland Rd, Leeds LS11 0ES)—home of Leeds United FC—is an absolute obsession here. Bunnies in Leeds—what’s the deal? Spotted some wild bunnies hopping around campus and thought, “Wait, is this a dream?” Nope—it’s just peak Leeds! The city’s green spaces, especially near the university, are full of adorable wild rabbits just living their best life. They’re not official mascots or anything, but students are obsessed. It’s basically an inside joke and a core Leeds moment. Let’s talk universities! Leeds is a *major* student city with top-notch schools like: · University of Leeds (Woodhouse, Leeds LS2 9JT) · Leeds Beckett University (City Campus, Portland Building, Portland Way, Leeds LS1 3HE) · Leeds Trinity University (Brownberrie Ln, Horsforth, Leeds LS18 5HD) Are they all red brick universities? Not quite! “Red brick universities” are those classic UK colleges set up in booming industrial cities from the late 1800s to early 1900s, complete with those Insta-fave red brick buildings. University of Leeds is a certified OG red brick—major history and major vibes. Leeds Beckett and Leeds Trinity are more recent but just as loved. So, what’s a red brick uni anyway? It’s Brit slang for universities that are both brains and looks—historic, packed with tradition, and serving up iconic architecture for your feed. The red bricks? So aesthetic. Why travel to Leeds? Whether you’re here to stalk wild bunnies 🐰, vibe with the campus energy, empty your wallet in the shopping districts, or just soak up classic British city culture, Leeds delivers on all fronts. Want in? Grab your train tickets easily through trip.com and dive into the action! 🔥 Insider tip: Don’t sleep on Hyde Park! It’s packed with cozy indie cafes and epic live music spots. And if you manage to snap a bunny pic, congrats—you’ve just unlocked a true Leeds rite of passage. Ready to spill the tea on Leeds yourself? This city is calling your name!

Leeds Kirkgate Market in the city centre is always one of my most favourite attractions in the UK. Opened in 1857 and as a Grade I listed building, there are currently 800 stalls which attract over 100,000 visitors a week. You can always finds lots of people with diversified backgrounds inside the market. The most attractive section is definitely the large food hall. It is full of street food cafes serving tasty treats from across the world. The dishes include Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Korean, curry, bakery, speciality coffee and even fish and chips. Every customer can definitely find their favourite food. The most important is that the food price is definitely affordable and reasonable. Of course, there are also several large seafood stalls selling different varieties of fresh food. If you have the chance to go to Leeds, I highly recommend to feel the vibrant city life here! #travel2026 #travel #thingstodo #familytravel #afternoonteatime #localfood #leeds #yorkshire #market #diversity #culturalexperience #heritage #market #foodie #food #seafood

We traveled at night from Newcastle train station to Leeds for a business meeting scheduled the next day. Leeds station was conveniently close to the Hyatt where we stayed, as well as the Hilton where our meeting was held. (Navigating the numerous roadworks was a bit of a hassle though.) The Hyatt staff were friendly, and the hotel was clean and tidy. However, there were a few minor issues. Although we were given separate rooms on the same floor, my room turned out to be a disabled room—not a problem, but it would have been nice to know in advance. There was also an odd smell, which the staff apologized for; the same smell was present at the Hilton, possibly due to the ongoing roadworks. We enjoyed a drink at the rooftop bar, which is open to the public for those over 25. However, small details like a misspelled name on the TV welcome screen, a non-functional bedside lamp, and the lack of complimentary water in the fridge could’ve been improved. Breakfast was a standard hot and cold buffet with plenty of options, though nothing particularly memorable. Despite these minor issues, I’d still consider staying here again.

This is another iconic landmark in the heart of the city—the Leeds Corn Exchange. A quintessential Victorian domed structure featuring light-colored stone and classical arched porticoes, it is designated as a Grade I listed building and stands as one of the most significant historical landmarks in Leeds. Completed in 1864, the building originally served as an indoor trading and auction hub for commodities like grain, wheat, and barley. It proudly symbolizes Leeds' status as a major British commercial powerhouse during the Victorian era. The building's most striking feature is its massive central glass dome, which floods the interior with natural light—originally designed to help merchants easily inspect the quality of their grains. The interior space once housed trading booths and exhibition areas. After a period of decline in the late 20th century, it underwent extensive restoration and has now been brilliantly brought back to life. Today, the Corn Exchange has been transformed into a vibrant, mixed-use commercial and cultural space. Inside, you'll find an array of independent designer brands, vintage boutiques, retro clothing shops, handicrafts, and artisanal jewelry stores. For dining, there are charming cafes and restaurants where visitors can relax and unwind after a day of shopping.

💂♂️It is said that if you are after big city attractions, you can't beat Leeds with its museums, shops, cafes and restaurants to rival even London. 🧶According to one Guidebook: Those from Sheffield, York and Hull may argue - but Leeds is Yorkshire's greatest city. 👑As soon as you arrive in Leeds, you can feel the metropolitan buzz of its culture and commerce - as well as its magnificent Victorian architectural heritage. 📖Central Library and Leeds Art Gallery offer a stunning experience through the art, architecture and civic pride of the Victorian era to the present day - they are physically linked, creating one of the UK's most impressive cultural hubs. ☕️Tips 1: Enjoy hot drinks in the Tiled Hall Cafe - originally the library's main reading room - this space dazzles with intricate mosaic ceilings 🚌Tips 2: You can travel to Leeds from York by Coastliner 840 or 843 🌽Tips 3: Among many other iconic buildings, also recommend to visit the domed Corn Exchange - now the home of many independent businesses #culture #shopping #cafe打卡 #chineseresturan

Dew sometimes rests gently on flower petals, making them sparkle in the light. Birds sing from nearby branches while the streets remain calm and quiet. These peaceful scenes make early walks especially enjoyable. The combination of fresh air, blooming flowers, and soft light creates a relaxing atmosphere. Many people find this time of day perfect for appreciating the delicate beauty of nature. Spring mornings reveal how even small blossoms can transform the feeling of a city.

Flowering trees appear in many areas, their branches covered with fresh blossoms that glow softly in the sunlight. As people walk along quiet paths or streets, they notice petals drifting slowly through the air. Flower beds add even more color with bright seasonal blooms arranged carefully in gardens. Bees and butterflies visit the blossoms, bringing movement and life to the scenery. The gentle fragrance of flowers sometimes fills the air after a warm afternoon breeze. Spring transforms the landscape into a place full of color, fragrance, and quiet beauty that reflects the renewal of nature.

My boyfriend and I spent a lovely weekend away in Leeds for valentines. We stayed at a hotel called discovery inn for two nights including breakfast which cost £73. We thought it was brilliant value for money the staff were very friendly and helpful and the place was very clean and welcoming. Before we left we were able to keep our luggage there for £1 a suitcase which was very helpful. We went to Gameshow all stars on the first night, it was our first time experiencing this and we thought it was fabulous. It was a great atmosphere, the staff were very kind and joyful and the games were lots of fun. We would definitely return and would recommend going on a Sunday where you can do it all again for free using their Sunday funday deal! On the first night we ate at the botanist and had the famous sharing hanging kebabs. Our server was very polite and friendly and the food was delicious for a good price as well. We spent the second day looking around the different markets in Leeds which I would definitely recommend. There were lots of different food and clothes stalls to look at and lots of bargains to choose from. I managed to get four really nice tops and jumpers for £1 each!! Finally in the evening, unfortunately we had a complication with a place called La Fonda. I had made a reservation and after walking a scenic 6km walk there the place was closed! We spoke to a very nice lady next door and it seems to be a regular occurrence them not being open and not telling anyone. Would not recommend. After heading back to the centre we then decided to eat at a restaurant called HAMA and enjoyed their delicious all you can eat Korean bbq. For just £33 per people you can help yourself to the buffet as much as your like and bring back different meats and seafood to your table to cook at. It was a wonderful experience and atmosphere, the staff were very helpful and kind. We would definitely recommended this place!
