Gili Trawangan Travel tips: I recommend you to book a private tour that includes transportation (car and slow boat) that can take you to those places because Lombok is a big island and each places are pretty far from each other. The price is around 1.8mio rupiah (around 100USD) for 3 day tour.

A long time ago, my sister and I visited Lombok and Gili Trawangan but didn't stay overnight. We headed back to Mataram on the same day, so it felt a bit rushed and underwhelming. That's why, when I had the chance to visit Gili Trawangan again (this time with my husband), we decided to spend the night here. Because of that, we got to do a lot more activities! Ever been somewhere where you never want to leave? This was Lombok for us. Lombok is an island in Indonesia next to Bali but i after seeing both Bali and Lombok, I would choose Lombok any day! There is so many beautiful waterfalls and beaches in Lombok and it is so affordable. We paid £138 a month for our stay in Mataram, Lombok. Although Mataram is the city of Lombok and not a tourist destination, we had such a great time! The locals are so nice and you can find drivers who will drive you to the other side of the island and wait to take you back at the end of the day. Lombok is 97% muslim so you will not find alcohol unless you’re in the touristy areas. Most restaurants in Mataram don’t offer alcohol with meals but you can buy it in shops if that’s fr you. We don’t really drink so wasn’t an issue for us. Every sunday there is Car Free Day which is where they close down the street for a few hours in the morning and there’s lots of food stalls and stuff to buy. There is also music and dancing! We can do various activities here, such as fishing, swimming, jogging and even just sitting quietly while enjoying the beautiful beach and a bottle of cold drink can be something extraordinary here. Not to mention the activity of local residents landing boats after returning from fishing is a sight in itself. I recommend not coming here in summer, a bit of green scenery in summer!

Amazing beach with scenic view. The coastline is quite long and has white sand. On the right side of the beach there are hills with corn plants. You can hike and enjoy the beautiful scenery around. For swimming at the beach it seems less recommended. Because the beach is rocky and the waves are sometimes big. But don't worry, there are lots of cool photo spots here. Especially the small "turtle" shaped dyke which is the hallmark of this beach. The beach atmosphere is quite calm and comfortable. If the weekend is rather crowded. #exploreasia

To enter this place is free, only I pay for parking. The location is very strategic, there are many hotels around this beach. However, the convenience is a little disturbed because many traders offer their wares by following along. But overall is very good. Your feet will get wet walking there as you have to go through the river to reach the waterfall and pool.
