Walk around the traditional village, see the unique houses and learn about local traditions. KUTA MANDALIKA After Desa Sade, head to Kuta Mandalika. Enjoy the beach, grab some food and explore this lively part of South Lombok. BUKIT MERESE End the day with one of my favorite viewpoints. The rolling green hills and coastline make this a beautiful spot, especially in the late afternoon. DAY 2 — CULTURE & LOCAL LIFE TAMAN NARMADA A peaceful historical site where you can discover a different side of Lombok beyond its beaches. AMPENAN Explore the old town and former port area. I like this place for its historical atmosphere and more local feel. MY TIP: If you want to see these places comfortably, I recommend arranging private transportation because some attractions are quite spread out. Lombok is not only about beaches. 🏝️ In Lombok, I was looking for a hotel offering maximum relaxation, beautiful grounds, and a great beach for swimming! 🏝️ Amber Lombok Beach Resort 5* fits all these requirements! It's located in a remote part of the island, and taxis are reluctant to go there. I wrote to the hotel in advance and asked them to arrange a transfer for us. A hotel staff member met us in a new, large car 👍 🏝️ The beach deserves special praise! Look how beautiful it is! The water is perfect turquoise! ​​We thoroughly enjoyed swimming. 🏝️ Throughout the hotel grounds, there are small villas housing the rooms, and banana trees, pineapples, and pandanus trees grow along the paths. And lizards scurry about. 🏝️ We only had breakfast; it wasn't very varied, but it was delicious. Since there was nothing around the hotel, we also ate here. The dinners were delicious and beautifully presented! And what a beautiful view of the sea from the restaurant! 🐒 Lombok Wildlife Park is a cozy zoo and sanctuary on the Indonesian island of Lombok. It is home to elephants, orangutans, bears, birds, and reptiles. 🐒 The main highlight of this place is the close interaction with the animals, the strong focus on their comfort, and the lush tropical forest setting. 🐒 Here, you can bathe with an elephant, hug an orangutan, roam freely in the deer enclosure, and get up close to large, magnificent birds. 🐒 Plan to spend at least two hours here, though you can easily stay longer. Today I'd like to tell you about an island that's less well-known and popular, but has retained its uniqueness and beauty: Lombok. 🌊 The first and most interesting thing is, of course, Lombok's beaches. 🏖️ It has a long coastline, and the most famous areas are Kuta and Senggigi. Selong Belonak Beach is a special favorite. We stayed at the Amber Lombok Hotel here, and it was an incredible experience. 🌊 Kuta. The beaches here are perfect for surfers. Kuta is actually the island's resort center. 🌊 Kuta Mandalika. This is a modern motorcycle racing circuit that regularly hosts Moto GP competitions. Stunning views of the hills and ocean. 🌊 Lombok Wildlife Zoo 🐒 Here you can swim with an elephant, cuddle with an orangutan, and see a variety of birds at arm's length. 🌊 The Gili Islands. How to get there ✈️ We took a flight: the trip from Bali took less than an hour. You can also take a ferry, but it takes way longer and isn't very comfortable if you have suitcases. Getting around the island 🛵 The main catch: ride-hailing apps don't work in Kuta. You'll either need to rent a scooter or stay in one village. You can hire a driver for the day, but the local "taxi mafia" charges crazy prices 😁 Traffic in Lombok is very chill — it's actually the perfect place to learn how to ride a scooter. Most memorable spots 🌊 1. Bukit Merese — unreal views of the coastline and waves. Bring water and comfy shoes. Entrance + parking ~10K IDR. 2. Benang Kelambu Waterfalls — didn't expect much, but it was absolutely stunning. Three large waterfalls, barely any tourists (nothing like the crowds in Bali!), and there are built-in natural pools for swimming. Entrance ~90K IDR per person. 3. Skylancing Lombok Paragliding Viewpoint — we often dropped by here after surfing. Gorgeous views, 0 crowds, there's a cafe, and entrance is free. On windy days, you can go paragliding. 4. Countless surf beaches 🏄♂️ — this is the main reason people come here. · Selong Belanak — a beach break for beginners with "Maldives-like" sand. · Tanjung Aan and Kuta Reef — endless reef waves for beginner/intermediate surfers. The entire south coast is dotted with beaches — everywhere you go, it's insanely beautiful. Parking ~10K IDR. 5. Definitely book a tour to the nearby Gili Islands (or stay there for a couple of days) — but I'll make a separate post about that 😉 Where to stay 🏨 We stayed at The Confidential Mandalika. Close to the beach, beautiful grounds, and you can rent a scooter right on-site. Where to eat 🍽️ Kuta has a massive selection of restaurants for every budget — and the food is great everywhere. Our top picks: · Markisa — a beautiful spot with Greek cuisine · Warung Bu De — looks a bit sketchy, but reviews say it's the most visited cafe in Lombok. The food was delicious! · Shaka Restaurant — awesome smoothie bowls · Jelajah Coffee Kuta — cozy, with a great selection of coffee and smoothies · Ramen Otaku Lombok — quirky interior, fast service, and tasty ramen Plus: tons of warungs where you can order freshly caught grilled fish and seafood in the evening 🔥 What to bring back 🛍️ The best souvenir is local pearls. Lots of little stalls open up in Kuta in the evening. Haggling is an absolute must — the starting prices are heavily marked up. You can also visit the pearl farms directly.

Want to take a vacation to Lombok but still not sure where to go? Let me spill my 3D2N Lombok itinerary from my recent trip! 1️⃣ Day one was all about island hopping. We intentionally explored the lesser-known Gilis in East Lombok that are rarely visited by tourists: Gili Sunut, Gili Kambing, Gili Maringkik, and Gili Petelu. We stopped for lunch at Tangsi Beach, better known as Pink Beach. After that, we went snorkeling in Semangkok Bay. 2️⃣ Right after dawn, we trekked up Pergasingan Hill to catch the sunrise from the peak. The view was absolutely stunning! In the afternoon, we explored Beleq Village and took in the landscape of Sembalun Village from the top of Selong Hill. Later in the evening, we enjoyed the sunset at Senggigi Beach. 3️⃣ Checked out of the hotel in the morning. Time to head home. On our way to the airport, we stopped by Kuta Beach and had nasi balap puyung for breakfast, which we grabbed on the road. After that, we continued our trip to Sade Village. The only thing we missed out on during our Lombok trip yesterday was snorkeling because we arrived too late at Gili, and we honestly didn't realize that the best time for snorkeling is from the morning until around 1:00 PM. So, that's our version of a 4-day, 5-night Lombok itinerary. So far, we really enjoyed our vacation and took it so chill since it was just the two of us—no rushing around. We went wherever we wanted, stayed completely flexible, and had a hassle-free trip. Pray that we get more blessings so we can travel far again soon!

A long time ago, my sister and I visited Lombok and Gili Trawangan but didn't stay overnight. We headed back to Mataram on the same day, so it felt a bit rushed and underwhelming. That's why, when I had the chance to visit Gili Trawangan again (this time with my husband), we decided to spend the night here. Because of that, we got to do a lot more activities! Merese Hill, which sits at an elevation of around 55-60 meters above sea level (MASL), has been well-known to both domestic and international tourists since around 2014. This spot is super popular because the landscape view from the top of the hill is absolutely amazing. From up there, we can see the sweeping coastline of Tanjung Aan Beach, as well as the surrounding rolling hills. It’s considered a great alternative for a quick getaway because getting to the top doesn't require a tough hike. It only takes about a 10-minute walk up to reach the summit, Personally, I think the hilltop is really only good for snapping pictures of the gorgeous scenery. If you come in the middle of the day and want to hang out up there for a long time, it gets scorching hot! So, spending a maximum of 1 hour at the top of Merese Hill is more than enough to soak in the green hills and the blue ocean. It's also plenty of time to take hundreds of awesome photos and cool footage like this... 💰Merese Hill Entrance Fee and Opening Hours It turns out Merese Hill doesn't have set opening hours—it’s actually open 24/7. We’re even allowed to camp there! And despite being super famous among foreign tourists, this spot stays down-to-earth, meaning the entrance fee is insanely cheap. In fact, there isn't even an official entrance ticket; you just pay for parking. It’s only Rp10,000 for cars and Rp5,000 for motorcycles. I'm not too sure about buses, but it shouldn't be expensive either! 😍😍Merese Hill in Lombok is also located super close to several other tourist spots, like the Mandalika Circuit, Kuta Beach, Tanjung Aan Beach, and Seger Beach. So, make sure to spend at least a full day of your vacation here in Central Lombok. That's exactly what my husband and I did when we visited recently.

Ever been somewhere where you never want to leave? This was Lombok for us. Lombok is an island in Indonesia next to Bali but i after seeing both Bali and Lombok, I would choose Lombok any day! There is so many beautiful waterfalls and beaches in Lombok and it is so affordable. We paid £138 a month for our stay in Mataram, Lombok. Although Mataram is the city of Lombok and not a tourist destination, we had such a great time! The locals are so nice and you can find drivers who will drive you to the other side of the island and wait to take you back at the end of the day. Lombok is 97% muslim so you will not find alcohol unless you’re in the touristy areas. Most restaurants in Mataram don’t offer alcohol with meals but you can buy it in shops if that’s fr you. We don’t really drink so wasn’t an issue for us. Every sunday there is Car Free Day which is where they close down the street for a few hours in the morning and there’s lots of food stalls and stuff to buy. There is also music and dancing!
