Sheoak Falls, nestled within the lush Great Otway National Park in Victoria, Australia, is a hidden gem that feels like a slice of paradise. My visit to these falls left me enchanted by the beauty of nature.
The journey to Sheoak Falls takes you through a serene rainforest, with the soothing sounds of birdsong and the scent of eucalyptus filling the air. As I approached the falls, the anticipation grew, and the sight of the cascading water through moss-covered rocks was nothing short of mesmerizing.
I couldn't resist getting closer to the falls and feeling the cool spray on my skin. The tranquil pool at the base of the falls was inviting, and I couldn't resist taking a refreshing dip.
Sheoak Falls is a testament to the natural beauty that Australia has to offer. It's a place where you can reconnect with nature, relax, and rejuvenate, making it a must-visit for anyone exploring the Great Ocean Road region.

Food in the town of Lorne - a must-see when traveling along the Great Ocean Road in Melbourne
Today I have to go to a very American, car burger place with you guys
Mainly it has several types of burgers, to choose from
I ordered a burger, which contains cheese macaroni and bacon beef ingredients. It's full of ingredients. It's delicious with lots of sauce
We also ordered fried chicken steak.
The barbecue sauce is served with fried chicken, fried just to lock in the juices
Be sure to talk about the drinks here, there are many smoothies to choose from
I ordered this cup. It's super colorful
It's a little sweet 😝 However, if you like sweet, it's perfect
Also the store is very good to check in ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

also visited Lorne beach during my great ocean road road trip in Melbourne. Lorne beach is actually just beside the great ocean road memorial arch. it is within walking distance just a small slope down to the beach and you will arrive at your destination rather easily. the beach looks good and nice , perfect for some sun tanning in fact. love the sand and the sky as well as the colors of the water it is just so relaxing and calming. feels like you can meditate here or even do some self reflection. would recommend visiting here and take some nice pictures as it will turn out great and beautiful.

Great Pier @ Victoria
#celebratewithtrip
Great pier to take a nice walk to and along with great views of the ocean and Lorne. Locals like to swim and fish here. One of the best piers in Victoria, has all the amenities required for fishing - garbage bins, ruler to measure the fish length, hooks to stick the fishing rod. Great spot !

Here’s you
Here’s your ultimate long-weekend guide for Melbourne and the Great Ocean Road – the adventure is packed with wild coastal views, iconic lighthouses, and culture gems! 🌊📚
Top Spots to Visit:
1. Loch Ard Gorge (Great Ocean Road, Port Campbell, VIC 3269) – Open 24/7. This spot blew me away with its ocean-carved cliffs and hidden beach. Pro tip: Arrive early, catch sunrise if you can, and explore the surrounding trails – fewer crowds and magical lighting for your photos!
2. The Razorback (Port Campbell VIC 3269) – Another stunning rock formation just minutes away from Loch Ard Gorge, open all day. Perfect for dramatic photos with crashing waves in the background. Don’t skip the lookout; it’s less crowded than the Twelve Apostles but just as breathtaking.
3. Loutit Bay Lookout (6 Reserve Rd, Aireys Inlet VIC 3231) – Open 7:00–23:00. If you love panoramic views over the beach town of Lorne, this is a must. Plus, that classic Aussie lighthouse under blue skies? It’s Insta gold.
4. State Library Victoria (328 Swanston St, Melbourne VIC 3000) – Open 10:00–18:00. Stunning architecture and cozy reading corners. Definitely worth a wander, even if books aren’t your thing – the domed La Trobe Reading Room is pure “wow!” for indoor photos.
Getting Around: Rent a car for the Great Ocean Road; it gives you the flexibility to stop at scenic overlooks. In Melbourne, trams and walking are super easy for city sites.
Food tips: Grab coffee at a laneway café in Melbourne (they take their brews seriously here ☕), and along the coast, try a classic Aussie meat pie or fresh fish and chips in Lorne.

First time on the Great Ocean Road two-day tour? This guide is all you need!
If this is your first time on the Great Ocean Road 🌊
then you can refer to my two-day itinerary.
My plan doesn’t include searching for wild koalas 🐨 or rainforest walks 🍃.
✨Day 1:
Depart from Melbourne city 🚗
⬇️
Geelong seaside town: The first stop is here to see the painted puppets 🪵 and experience the vibe of “Little California.”
⬇️
Anglesea: This beach is quite beautiful with many surfers 🏄, worth a quick look 👀.
⬇️
Red Hat Lighthouse: Another great photo spot and you can also take a walk along the coastline 🌊.
⬇️
Great Ocean Road Memorial Arch: Stop for a photo; if you don’t want people in the shot, you don’t have to get out of the car.
⬇️
Lorne town: Have lunch here, I recommend Totti's 🍴—it’s really delicious 😋. After eating, you can stroll around the town.
⬇️
Teddy Lookout: A viewpoint in Lorne town where you can see the coastline and the coastal road.
⬇️
Kennett River cafe koala: Here you can look for wild koalas in the trees 🐨.
⬇️
Apollo Bay
Marriner Lookout: A viewpoint overlooking the whole town and sea view—definitely a must-visit!!!
⬇️
Check into a hotel in Apollo Bay. Popular hotels and B&Bs must be booked in advance. If you can’t get a reservation, I recommend staying in town for convenient dining and shopping 🉑.
✨Day 2:
Breakfast at the popular scallop pie bakery 🍞. Personally, I found the taste average and a bit fishy ❌.
⬇️
Maits Rest Forest: You can take a rainforest walk here 🍃.
⬇️
The Twelve Apostles: I heard going in the afternoon causes backlighting, making photos less attractive. But when we went in the morning, the clouds were too thick; the blue sky only appeared at noon. I guess it depends on luck.
⬇️
Gibson Steps: When we went, it was closed, but now it’s open 🉑. You can get close to the rocks and go down to the beach. Definitely worth visiting.
⬇️
Loch Ard Gorge
⬇️
Campbell Port: Have lunch here. We chose 12 Rocks Beach Bar Cafe ☕️, but the taste was average ❌.
⬇️
London Bridge
⬇️
The Grotto: Our last stop. I highly recommend going down the stairs to see the sea cave. It’s a unique and special view 💯.
⬇️
Start the return trip back to Melbourne city.
The scenery along the way is also quite nice, with haystack pastoral views somewhat reminiscent of Inner Mongolia.
The two-day self-driving trip is very relaxed and enjoyable 😌. I recommend everyone arrange a two-day Great Ocean Road itinerary if time allows—no need to rush, just leisurely enjoy the beautiful scenery 🌊.

Have you ever seen Apollo Bay shrouded in thick fog?
If Apollo Bay on a sunny day is a bright resort coastline,
then Apollo Bay shrouded in fog is more like a slowly unfolding film.
The sea is covered by a thick fog in the early morning,
the distant coastline is faintly visible,
the sound of the waves is amplified, yet the world becomes exceptionally quiet.
The entire town seems to have time slowed down.
Apollo Bay is located in the middle of Victoria's famous Great Ocean Road,
once an important fishing port and maritime supply point.
In the mid-19th century, it began to develop into a port town,
fishing and maritime culture gradually brought prosperity to this area.
And today, it still retains its symbiotic relationship with the sea.
As the fog slowly advances from the Antarctic Ocean,
the boundary between sea and sky is blurred,
leaving only the humid air, the low-sinking waves, and the faint lighthouse.
In such weather, Apollo Bay is no longer just a tourist stop,
it's more like a time slowed down.
No hustle and bustle, no crowds of tourists,
only the sea breeze, the mist, and a quiet, breathing seaside town.
Some places are beautiful on a sunny day,
but they truly have soul on a foggy day.

Stunning Coastal Lookout
#australiatrip
Teddy’s Lookout is one of the most popular free viewpoints in Lorne, Victoria and looks directly over the winding curves of the Great Ocean Road, the mouth of the St George River, and the coastline stretching out toward the ocean.
It is accessed by a short uphill walk from the designated car park at the end of George Street, with the final section leading to a fenced viewing platform.
There is no ticket required to visit and it is open to the public year round.
The lookout is especially known for showing how the road snakes around the cliffs below, which makes it a common stop for Great Ocean Road road trips.
The walk is brief but includes a steady incline and steps near the top, so it is not considered fully wheelchair accessible.
There are no food vendors, restrooms, or shaded seating at the lookout itself, so visitors typically stop briefly for photos before heading back into town for cafés, beaches, or the pier.
Sunset is a popular time to visit, though visibility depends on weather and cloud cover, and strong coastal winds are common at the platform.
Teddy’s Lookout works well as a quick scenic stop either at the start or end of exploring Lorne and pairs easily with nearby Erskine Falls, Lorne Beach, and the town center.

Stunning waterfall in a forest escape
#australiatrip
Lower Kalimna Falls is the most easily accessible section of the Kalimna Falls system just outside the coastal town of Lorne in Victoria, Australia.
This lower section is reached by a short, clearly marked walking path from the designated roadside car park along Kalimna Falls Road.
The walk is brief and mostly flat, making it suitable for most visitors, including families with older children, though there are steps and uneven surfaces close to the viewing area.
The waterfall flows over a rocky ledge into a shallow pool below, and water levels vary depending on recent rainfall, with stronger flow typically seen after wet weather.
Swimming is not promoted due to slippery rocks and changing conditions.
This stop is commonly paired with nearby Erskine Falls or a drive through Lorne town for cafés and beach access, making it a quick nature break that fits easily into a day along the Great Ocean Road.

Headed dow
Headed down to Lorne with coastline views for days and a detour to one of the most underrated gems: Soapy Rock 🌊🤩! Beach vibes, epic waves crashing, and those raw wooden railings are the backdrop here—pure outdoor aesthetic for your feed.
Must-see Place: Soapy Rock
Tucked between Anglesea Surf Life Saving Club and Point Roadknight Beach, Soapy Rock (Anglesea VIC 3230, Australia) is perfect for a sunny nature walk or just chilling with the sound of the waves. If you’re into rocky landscapes and scenic photo spots, this is your jam—cloudy skies and wild surf make it super atmospheric. A top tip I picked up: take the wooden-railing path for the best coastline shots and to avoid slippery spots after rain.
Getting There & Around:
Driving from Lorne to Soapy Rock only takes about 15 minutes via the Great Ocean Road (B100), with plenty of easy stops for snacks or beachside photos. Parking is available near the Surf Life Saving Club. If you’re jumping between beaches, local buses run straight along the coast—super convenient.
Food Ideas:
For a solid meal, swing by Lorne’s main strip before or after your Soapy Rock adventure—try The Bottle of Milk for burgers or enjoy fish & chips at the Lorne Pier area.
Bonus Tips:
No entry fee, just open skies and endless ocean—bring layers in case it gets breezy! Keep some cash for local eats, but most spots in Lorne accept cards. Weather can flip fast along the coast, so pack a small umbrella if clouds roll in.

Teddy’s Lookout – Panoramas Above the Great Ocean Road
#mytraveldiary #september2025 #greatoceanroad
Perched high above Lorne, Teddy’s Lookout is one of the most breathtaking vantage points along the Great Ocean Road. After a short, easy walk from the car park, you’ll be rewarded with sweeping views where the St. George River winds through lush rainforest before meeting the sparkling Southern Ocean. The contrast of green valleys against turquoise waters is simply unforgettable.
For casual visitors, it’s a quick stop that delivers maximum reward without needing a big hike. But if you’ve got more time, there are trails branching off the lookout, offering deeper immersion into the surrounding forest and coastal scenery.
✨ Why Visit Teddy’s Lookout?

Beautiful town of Lorne! A quiet town near the starting point of the Great Ocean Road.
The beautiful and tranquil town of Lorne boasts stunning views, including Teddy's Lookout and Lorne Beach. Unfortunately, since my hotel was booked in Apollo Bay, I could only briefly explore the area.
For travelers planning a three-day, two-night Great Ocean Road trip, consider spending one night here and enjoying the tranquility, beauty, and affordability of this small town.

Melbourne: The Great Ocean Road 🚗
You have to hit the Great Ocean Road whenever you are in Melbourne. This drive wasn’t just about a destination…it was ALL about the journey. Here's one way you can do your road trip.
After you picked up your rental car, head to Torquay Beach, the iconic starting point, to kick things off.
You get the first glimpse of the ocean here, and you can admire the intense blue, almost unreal, blue ocean and majestic waves.
Pull-off between Lorne and Apollo Bay Stop and you may find the Kafe Koala and where I spotted some koalas 🐨 napping on the trees.
The main event: the Twelve Apostles. These gigantic stacks rising out of the ocean looks surreal behind a backdrop of the sunset in the evening. Get your camera ready to capture something epic.
Quick Hits:
- Torquay Beach: Iconic starting point 📍 55 Surf Coast Hwy, Torquay VIC 3228; open all day
- Lorne (chill town stop): 114 Mountjoy Parade, Lorne VIC 3232
- Apollo Bay: Coffee break heaven! 139 Great Ocean Rd, Apollo Bay VIC 3233
- Twelve Apostles: Main lookout 📍 Great Ocean Rd & Booringa Rd, Princetown VIC 3269; open 24/7

🏨 Accommodation Mantra Lorne
🍴 Food Recommendations: If you book Mantra Lorne for a stay so book breakfast as well with Mantra, which is a very good option. Otherwise, you can have breakfast at Lorne Central. For lunch and dinner a couple of restaurants are available there, Raas Leela Indian restaurant is very good food. There are a couple of waterfalls nearby which you can visit, Erskine waterfall is very beautiful. Enjoy beautiful drive on great Ocean road.
📌 Tips
it is better to have at least one week trip on great Ocean road and nearby as there are plenty of must visit places.
If you’re short on time but want to experience the magic of Victoria’s coastline, a 2-day, 1-night Great Ocean Road trip is absolutely doable — and oh, so worth it! Here’s how our adventure unfolded.
Day 1: Melbourne → Apollo Bay
We kicked off our trip by renting a car from Sixt in Melbourne city and heading straight to Geelong for a hearty breakfast. Fuelled up and ready to explore, we hit the road along the iconic Great Ocean Road.
Our first stop was Split Point Lighthouse in Aireys Inlet — the view of the cliffs meeting the ocean was unreal. From there, we drove to the Memorial Arch, a great spot to snap photos and feel the history of this famous route. Next, we made our way to Teddy’s Lookout, where the panoramic views over the coastline took our breath away.
By evening, we reached Apollo Bay and checked into our Airbnb — a stay so lovely it deserves its own post! The vibe, comfort, and views made winding down after a long day perfect.
Day 2: Sunrise, Cape Otway, Koalas & Twelve Apostles
We woke up early to catch the sunrise right from our Airbnb, a serene and magical start to the day 🌅. After breakfast, we continued our journey toward Cape Otway, where the wildlife adventure began. Driving through the dense forests, we spotted wild koalas lounging in eucalyptus trees — an absolute highlight of the trip!
From there, we headed to the Twelve Apostles. The coastal wind was strong, but the view of these towering limestone stacks against the turquoise water made every gust worthwhile. After soaking in the scenery, we stopped at Port Campbell for a relaxing lunch before starting the drive back to Melbourne CBD.
Even though our trip was short, the combination of coastal cliffs, lush forests, wildlife encounters, and iconic landmarks made it unforgettable. The Great Ocean Road isn’t just a scenic drive; it’s a journey full of surprises, perfect for both first-timers and repeat visitors.
If you have time, Lorne is a convenient stopover destination for your Great Ocean Road road trip. This is a great place to stay, allowing you to unwind on your journey.
Mantra Lorne Hotel
Mantra Lorne is a resort located on the beautiful beachfront of Lorne, creating a relaxing and refreshing atmosphere from the moment you arrive.
Beautiful rooms with complete amenities.
The rooms are beautifully decorated and modern. What impressed me most was the bathtub, which was wonderful for relaxing after a long day of sightseeing. You can soak in the warm, relaxing atmosphere, making your stay even more complete.
Delicious breakfast and great value.
The breakfast at Mantra Lorne is truly delicious and worth the price. There's a wide selection of hot and cold dishes, including freshly baked pastries every day. It's a great way to start the day.
Hotel Activities and Seaside Atmosphere
Mantra Lorne offers a wide range of activities, including strolling along the beach right next to the hotel, where you can fully enjoy the sea breeze and stunning views. There's also an indoor swimming pool, perfect for families. For more activities, there's also a tennis court and a spa.
Disadvantages to Consider
However, there is one thing to consider before booking: the hotel does not have an elevator. Therefore, if you have large luggage or have difficulty walking up stairs, you may need to prepare or inform the staff in advance to receive assistance with your luggage.
Prices vary depending on the time period. We recommend booking a room with breakfast included for the best value.

Why 12 Apostles when there’s 7?
Drive from Melbourne CBD four hours ride to Great Ocean Road to view the Twelve Apostles
The Twelve Apostles are a collection of limestone stacks off the shore of Port Campbell National Park, by the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia.
Despite their name, there were never twelve limestone stacks. Seven of the original nine stacks remain standing. Six of them are visible from the most popular viewpoint, while the seventh is located several metres away from the corner of the main viewing platform.
In 03 July 2005, a 50-metre-tall (160 ft) stack collapsed, leaving eight standing. Another collapsed in 2009, leaving seven remaining stacks.
About 7 million people a year visit the Great Ocean Road region, making it one of Australia's most popular destinations.
Travelling the road itself is one of the great attractions.
On the return journey, you will drive past Apollo Bay for a sumptuous lunch. I took my lunch at Seafood Quay which serve Lobster Burger for $28. There are Chinese restaurant and restaurant within Apollo Bay Hotel which serve mussels and steaks.
After the lunch , I head straight for the awards winning Gelato at Dooley Ice Cream. I ordered a cone with 2 scoops of Dark Chocolate and strawberries cheese cream for $10.50 and check around the sandy beaches in Apollo Bay.
Thereafter drive up towards Kennett River and see free roaming Australia Koala Bears, Kangaroos and lots of colourful birds within the area.
Afterwards visit the Memorial Arch and Split Point Lighthouse before heading back to Melbourne for dinner.

Erskine Falls Travel Guide
Erskine Falls is located in the western outskirts of Lorne, a small town along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia. It is the tallest waterfall in the Otway region, with a drop of approximately 30 meters, nestled within the lush rainforest of Great Otway National Park. To reach the falls, start from the Lorne Visitor Information Centre, head south along Mountjoy Parade, turn right onto Williams Street, and then drive along Erskine Falls Road for about 12 minutes. At the top of the falls, there is a viewing platform offering a breathtaking view of the cascading water. For a closer experience, take the stone steps down to the base of the falls, where you can feel the refreshing mist up close. The gorge is lined with ferns, creating a magical, fairy-tale-like atmosphere.
It is recommended to allocate 1–2 hours for the visit. Wear non-slip shoes and be cautious of slippery surfaces during the rainy season. Note that there are no restrooms at the parking lot near the falls, so plan accordingly and use facilities in Lorne beforehand. Nearby attractions include watching the sunset at Lorne Pier and spotting koalas at Kennett River. If you have more time, consider staying overnight in a forest cabin or a seaside guesthouse in Lorne, and continue your journey the next day to iconic Great Ocean Road destinations like the Twelve Apostles.

Lorne Beach Travel Guide
Lorne Beach, located along the Great Ocean Road, is renowned for its expansive coastline, steep cliffs, and breathtaking ocean views, making it a favorite vacation spot for Victorians. It is recommended to visit during early morning or late afternoon to avoid the intense midday sun and to capture the stunning light during sunrise and sunset. The beach offers surfboard rentals, swimming areas, and professional lifeguard patrols, making it ideal for family outings. The northern Erskine River estuary is a popular fishing spot, equipped with public barbecue facilities where you can cook fresh seafood yourself.
For a deeper experience, take a leisurely walk along the pier to its end to observe wild seals and seagulls, or embark on a three-hour hike to Teddy’s Lookout for a panoramic view of the winding coastline. Nearby dining options include the Lorne Pier Seafood Restaurant at the pier, famous for its seafood platter and tiger prawns, and the Japanese restaurant umisango, known for its highly-rated sushi.
Important Notes: Lorne Beach has been the site of the highest number of rescue operations in Victoria, so be cautious of rip currents and avoid swimming alone. Families with children should steer clear of wet sand traps to prevent stepping into loose sand pits.

🦞 Seafood Heaven in Lorne – Captain Hooked Delivers! 🌶️🍴
If you’re ever in Lorne, do yourself a favour and stop by Captain Hooked — hands down one of the best seafood spots on the Great Ocean Road. Fresh, flavourful, and absolutely unforgettable!
The star of the show for me? The crab in Thai curry sauce. 🦀
Rich, spicy, and bursting with flavour — it’s the perfect balance of heat and comfort. Every bite had me going back for more (and licking my fingers, no shame 😅). If you love spice and seafood, this is a MUST-TRY.
And let’s talk about the lobster rolls… buttery, soft buns loaded with juicy chunks of lobster, fresh herbs, and just the right touch of citrus. 🤤 They’re everything a lobster roll should be — simple, fresh, and decadent.
Pair it all with a glass of white wine or a cold local brew, and you’ve got a seaside meal you won’t forget. 🌊🍷
From the friendly service to the gorgeous coastal vibes, Captain Hooked is a foodie’s dream by the beach. Can’t wait to go back!
