Pilgrimage Path Wanderings in Lugo
I love this small town...
Surrounded by ancient city walls, with no vehicles allowed inside, it is well-planned, clean, and truly a paradise for pedestrians.
I envy the local residents who can stroll daily on the world's most well-preserved Roman city walls, enjoying such a luxurious lifestyle.
I admire the dedication of the local government, as all attractions are open for free visits—a rarity in Spain!
Even the ancient Roman baths, which date back over two thousand years, have been preserved and are still operational! They now serve as a renowned spa center in Spain, and the Roman bath ruins in the basement are also free to visit.
I absolutely adore towns like this...

Historic Walls and Charming Streets in Lugo
#holidayitinerary Lugo is a captivating city in Galicia that effortlessly blends history with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Walking around the city, the most striking feature is the intact Roman walls that completely encircle the old town. Strolling along the top of the walls gives a unique perspective of the city and its charming streets filled with cafes, shops, and historic buildings. The old town is perfect for a casual exploration, with narrow lanes opening onto quaint squares and beautiful churches that showcase Lugo’s rich heritage.
The local gastronomy is another highlight, with traditional Galician dishes and fresh tapas available in cozy eateries. Parks and riverside paths provide peaceful spots to rest and enjoy the surroundings. Lugo’s combination of ancient history, vibrant culture, and relaxed pace makes it a delightful destination for visitors looking to explore Galicia in a casual and memorable way.

Roman Walls & Strolls
#summervacay Lugo is one of those underrated towns that totally sneaks up on you. Like, you come for the Roman walls (which are super cool, btw) and end up staying for the vibes. The whole town is wrapped in this ancient stone wall you can actually walk on, full 360º views of the city and super peaceful, especially at sunset.
Inside the walls, the old town is all narrow lanes, cute cafés, and a mix of chill locals and students doing their thing. It’s not super touristy, which makes it feel really authentic. Plus, tapas are often free when you order a drink (bless Galicia).
There’s also a gorgeous cathedral, leafy parks, and some Roman ruins if you're feeling a bit history-nerdy. But mostly, Lugo is about slowing down, wandering aimlessly, and soaking up the relaxed small-town energy.
It’s not flashy, but it’s got charm for days. If you’re into quiet corners, stone streets, and good vibes, Lugo totally delivers. 🧱🍷🌿

Lugo Town Bistro: Winning word-of-mouth, warm food
A self-drive tour of northern Spain comes to Lugo, a World Heritage city with the entire town surrounded by thousand-year-old walls. In the evening we went to Taberna Pajon, a bistro recommended by locals. This bistro is family-run and plainly decorated. Although there is no gorgeous decoration, it has captured the stomachs of the locals with its warm food and won the reputation. Must be the Spanish melted omelet and Spanish grilled sausage, both go well with wine!

📍Province of Lugo, Autonomous Community of Galicia
I went on a trip to Lugo, a World Heritage Site in Spain!
It's a nearby area that you can get to by bus or train from Madrid!
As soon as you arrive at the terminal, you can see the magnificent Roman walls, which are designated as World Heritage Sites!
In particular, the buildings within the walls are full of the feeling of the European Middle Ages,
so it feels like you've taken a time machine back to that era!
If you go into the town of Lugo, which is surrounded by these walls, you can see the cathedral,
and Plaza Mayor, and the park around it!
Enjoy your trip to the town of Lugo filled with blue skies!
