Setiawan in a Day: From Heritage to Mangrove Mischief
#summervacay
Setiawan offers a charming one-day escape where culture and nature come together effortlessly. Start with a visit to the Sitiawan Settlement Museum, where you’ll explore the rich Foochow migrant history in a quaint, restored parsonage full of artifacts and nostalgia.
After a simple local lunch, head out for a mangrove river cruise, where the real stars are the wild macaques. These cheeky monkeys swim up to boats—expect them to beg for peanuts or even hop aboard! It’s playful, close-up wildlife fun in a calm, scenic setting surrounded by lush greenery and quiet waters.
From vintage stories to monkey mischief, Setiawan delivers a compact, refreshing getaway filled with memorable moments.
City Mangrove Park is not just a peaceful nature retreat—it’s also home to a cheeky and charming group of wild monkeys that add a touch of liveliness to your visit. These playful creatures often roam near the entrance and parking area, casually observing visitors or swinging through the trees. Watching them in their natural habitat, surrounded by the dense greenery of the mangroves, adds a fun and spontaneous element to the trip.
The park itself is beautifully maintained, with wooden boardwalks leading you through cool, shaded trails beneath tall mangrove trees. It’s the perfect place to escape the summer heat, listen to the sounds of nature, and spot wildlife like crabs, birds, and dragonflies. But the highlight for many—especially families—is the unexpected and up-close monkey encounters that turn an ordinary walk into a memorable summer adventure.
Tip: Hold on to your snacks and bags—the monkeys are cute, but curious!

CNY at Doubletree by Hilton Damai Laut
I am looking for a chill and relax CNY holidays and this DoubleTree by Hilton Damai Laut has come to my attention. The hotel located at Lumut, about 3hours driving time from Kualal Lumpur.
The hotel is under umbrella of Hilton, hence everything is up to Hilton standard. Firstly, warm welcome by the check in counter with their famous cookies. My room was upgraded and able to have part of the seaview.
We have the afternoon tea at the Axis lounge and Chef Jay is very attentive and helpful. Dinner at the Makan Kitchen where they serve the CNY feature buffet. The salted egg prawns are very delicious! The bonus point is we able to watch the fireworks at the dinning hall. Amazing experience!
Good food, good service and good environment!
Will come back again soon

Kids club + water park + beach = Kids Haven
A newly refurbished resort in Lumut. Travelling from KL takes about 3 hours, via the new highway. Hotel is quite secluded from town. It has everything that kids love, huge water park and beach! Kids club opens until 9pm on weekends, a huge plus point as pool is closed at night. Also has fireworks at 8pm during weekend. Seawater is not crystal clear, but sufficient for kids to enjoy sandcastle building. Also has ATV riding at affordable cost. Buffet variety is ok but need to improve on sanitation as lots of flies at the buffet restaurant. Food prices in room service is around RM 30-50, burger set for kids tasted little salty. overall great place to relax, especially with family!

Get your belly full at the market
While traveling in Asia ; street food is a must. In Malaysia and the capital Kuala Lumpur is no different.
When the sun goes down and the the light is turned on the city wakes up for new. At the market you will get hit with the colors , the amazing smell and all the people.
The food is cooked freshly and you can see it with you own eyes. It’s fast food but cooked freshly when you order it. Just a few seconds sometimes in the frying pan is enough and the food is ready to be served on a plate and served to you!
Some of my favorite food I show you here on my photo. Chicken that will make you finger so sticky that you will it served with a wet napkin on the side. Tofu is always nice too and you can’t
go wrong with a deepfried ! Definitely don’t miss out on this Market !
