We arrived at night, so we stayed at a hotel near the airport for one night. The seaplane transfer was arranged for early the next morning, which made our time on the island more complete! We had read that the seaplane might have a strong fuel smell, but we found it completely acceptable. The weather was fantastic, and the aerial views were absolutely stunning 👏🏻 🏝️ Island Experience OBLU Island isn’t very big, but it was just right for us who are sensitive to sun and heat! The vegetation is lush 🌴, the photo spots have sunshine ☀️, and after taking pictures, you can stroll in the shade. The ecology is amazing—clear water, white sand, and hermit crabs everywhere 🐚🦀 🛖 Room Choice We chose 2 beach villas + 2 pool water villas. The beach villas offer excellent privacy, perfect for truly enjoying vacation time. The water villas have unbeatable views. We thought we’d be daydreaming all day 👀 but we were too busy! Either eating or snorkeling 🤿 plus other activities 🦈🛳️🌅 🌊 Snorkeling Tips To see sea turtles 🐢, we snorkeled early every day (though we didn’t see any 😭). The snorkeling spot near the jetty is friendly for beginners, with staff watching, so it felt safer. We saw lots of colorful small fish 🐠 and even some bigger sharks! Looking at the photos now makes me want to rush back to snorkel again~ 🍽️ Chose the SAI Meal Plan ▪️ Buffet breakfast and dinner, three-course lunch ▪️ Lots of dishes with great flavors and large portions; we were stuffed every meal and often couldn’t finish everything 🫃🏻 Felt like we hadn’t even digested one meal before starting the next! ▪️ Drinks are unlimited! Back then, the beaches of Thoddoo were still undeveloped. I remember when I emerged from a wild coconut grove, the scene suddenly lit up before my eyes. Oh my god! A whole stretch of Tiffany blue lagoon was spread out right in front of me. It turned out that the Maldives I had imagined looked just like this place~ Its beauty shouldn’t be confined to just my camera lens. I want to share this treasure island with everyone. Some say the prices in the Maldives need to be lowered. I want to say, the Maldives itself isn’t expensive. Spending a week on Thoddoo Island can be done for just a few thousand yuan per person. If you come in the off-season and just lie on the beach every day without going out to sea, splitting hotel costs between two people, honestly, you won’t even spend 3,000 yuan in a week. This is the real cost of living on a Maldives local island. I have witnessed it with my own eyes: paradise doesn’t have to be expensive. I have been to more local islands than most local workers. I know which island has the most beautiful trailing sand beaches, which coral reef has the most fish for snorkeling, which island’s lagoon looks the best, and which island still preserves authentic local culture. Every island has its own strengths and weaknesses. When I see the very popular Maafushi and Fulidhoo on social media, I feel that Thoddoo Island should not be overlooked. Just got back from a wonderful experience at Ozen Life Maadhoo. After a lengthy flight alongside a quite turbulent boat transfer (the weather turned just as we boarded!), we were greeted with a warm reception from the staff and a complimentary foot treatment—which was indeed appreciated. We stayed in a two-bedroom Earth Pool Pavilion Suite, which was absolutely gorgeous. The location and amenities were superb, and Ayush, our butler, went above and beyond. The bikes provided for getting around were a pleasant touch. Overall, the staff were probably the friendliest and most accommodating we've encountered while traveling—too many to name individually. It was heartwarming to see the General Manager regularly around the island, welcoming guests and engaging with staff, fostering a genuine family-like atmosphere. The cuisine and beverages across all restaurants were delightful; we especially enjoyed IndoCeylon, though my son considered their burgers the best he's ever tasted! Dining at the underwater restaurant was an exceptional experience, and lunch at Lomu shouldn't be missed. Spa treatments were divine, set in such a picturesque environment. We upgraded twice to a Balinese massage which was amazing, while our son enjoyed paddleboarding, jet skiing, and the gym facilities. Some aspects could have been enhanced for us. An expanded selection of spirits in the room minibar and the option to take away pizzas from the pool bar (boxes were unavailable) would have been nice. The gin bar was charming but not well signposted, so it often appeared quite empty. We'd have liked more yoga sessions but prefer sleeping in during holidays, so the 7 am start was a little early—sunset options would be a great addition. These details didn’t negatively impact our holiday whatsoever, just small notes that could have enhanced it for us. There are many more positives to mention and we're eager to visit again soon.

Fantastic amenities, with the M6M restaurant being an especially remarkable experience. There are many enjoyable activities, and the snorkeling and sunset cruise were standout moments. The staff was outstanding throughout—extremely friendly and helpful in all areas. Special mentions go to Ayush, our butler, for being highly attentive and organized, delivering excellent service consistently. Kudos also to Alok, the executive chef, and the entire team for superbly catering vegan meals at every venue—the food was exquisite, and they consistently checked in to see if there was anything I wanted to be prepared. Every dinner featured a pre-prepared menu for me (at various venues) so there was no need to worry, and everything was delicious. We returned to Ozen for my 6th visit and my wife’s 9th, and the team outdid themselves with their unmatched level of service and warm friendship, which we haven't experienced anywhere else during our extensive travels. The updated menus are amazing, and the property improvements blend beautifully with the environment. Upon arrival, the lovely staff warmly welcomed us, and we were then introduced to our host, Hussain, who took care of our entire stay. He thoughtfully planned our schedule to ensure we enjoyed everything the hotel offered, including the Spa, all the restaurants, exercise activities, excursions, and any special events during our time there. He was exceptionally accommodating, and no request was ever too much. The staff throughout the hotel were professional, attentive, and welcoming, which made our experience even more special. Many seemed to know we were on our honeymoon, and the subtle gestures to acknowledge that were incredibly thoughtful and sweet. The hotel was impeccably maintained—from our room, which was cleaned twice daily, to the pristine beaches and every other area. Though it was May, the rain didn’t bother us—mostly occurring at night or during SPA sessions, causing no inconvenience. My husband and I spent four nights at this beautiful resort after traveling in Sri Lanka. The journey was seamless—a quick flight from Colombo to Male, followed by a warm welcome as we were taken to a private lounge and then onto a speedboat to the resort. It was easy to locate the resort sign in the arrival hall, and the lounge offered comfortable seating, Wi-Fi, snacks, water, and juice. Though the shower's clear window and doorless toilet might bother some, they weren’t an issue for us. Extras like bug repellent, vanity kits, and nice bath products added to the comfort. The slide into the ocean was so enjoyable, we would book it again in a heartbeat. · *Dining:** Breakfast at Palms offered fresh and tasty options, including made-to-order eggs, omelets, and a variety of pastries, fruits, and juices. We loved our traditional Maldivian meal at Lonu, with the flavorful tuna rice dish being our favorite. The private beach BBQ dinner, albeit not included in the package, was a standout experience. Choosing fresh seafood like prawns, tuna, lobster, and steak, combined with sides, made for a beautiful and secluded evening. · *Spa:** We indulged in three spa services during our short stay, each experience in the serene spa huts being exceptional. We missed out on "Gin Is In" as it wasn’t open during our visits, once due to maintenance and another time as it served as a departure lounge. · *Activities:** The resort offered dives, snorkeling trips, sunset cruises, and fishing trips. We opted for a snorkeling trip, though visibility was poor due to prior rain. This place was absolutely incredible! My partner and I visited for our honeymoon, and as it was our first trip overseas with limited English skills, we were quite nervous. However, SIRI, the staff member assisting us, provided support in Japanese, which was such a relief. Since my wife was pregnant, they were very attentive to her health, going out of their way to make sure her meals weren’t too spicy. They truly showed great care and thoughtfulness. As a wonderful surprise, they decorated our bed and even arranged a cake to celebrate our babymoon, making the experience unforgettable with their top-notch hospitality. The staff engaged with us warmly and explained everything in a way that was easy to understand. The ocean views from anywhere on the island were breathtaking, creating such a relaxing atmosphere. Housekeeping came twice a day, keeping everything impeccably clean. Since we often brought sand in from outside, it was a relief to have fresh linens every night, allowing us to rest comfortably. We enjoyed an amazing 8-day stay here—everything from the food, staff, villa, weather, to the boat transfer was excellent. A special thanks to our butler Shamoon and many others who made our trip unforgettable. During our visit, we dined twice at the underwater restaurant, m6m—once for lunch and once in the evening. It offered a unique experience and was absolutely worth it. I also celebrated my 60th birthday with a beachfront dinner for two, which was just perfect. Some have mentioned construction work; however, staying in an overwater villa, we neither saw nor heard anything. I’d imagine those in earth villas on the sunset side might notice diggers, but it didn’t affect our stay at all.

We stayed here in June 2025 and want to note that this resort isn’t ideal for diving enthusiasts, as marine life is limited. The standout culinary experience, though, was M6M — their underwater restaurant. Destination dining often carries a touch of skepticism, but the seafood here genuinely exceeded expectations. The lobster was exceptionally fresh with a springy, lively texture that showcased an ocean-to-plate immediacy. Adding to the experience, our butler organized a dolphin-watching excursion that felt magical, even for someone who doesn’t swim. Back at the villa, I indulged in long moments of wading in the shallows, where soft white sand met tranquil turquoise waters, spotting vibrant reef fish just steps from the staircase. Ozen Life may not redefine the concept of a Maldivian resort, but it consistently delivers on every promise with authentic sincerity — which, at times, is exactly what makes it remarkable.

We stayed at OZEN Life Maadhoo for four nights to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. The resort is easily accessible, just about a 40-minute speedboat ride from Malé. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed with exceptional hospitality. This time, we chose to stay in a Wind Villa (overwater cottage). The sea in front of the cottage isn’t particularly shallow; during low tide, the water was deep enough that only our shoulders were exposed. At night, we were thrilled to spot sea turtles swimming right in front of the cottage—an unforgettable sight. On the other hand, near the Pool Villa side, especially the beach at the front, the waters are very shallow, making it safe and enjoyable even for those less confident in swimming. We also took a stroll to the tennis court located at the southern tip of the island. It had such a peaceful atmosphere that it made us think about trying a Beach Villa on our next visit. At JOIE de VIVRE, we relished a variety of non-alcoholic cocktails while enjoying the beach views. The main restaurant, The Palms, offered a buffet with a diverse range of options, including Indian, Western, and Asian cuisines. Traditions IndoCeylon specialized in Indian cuisine, and reviewing the menu in advance enhanced the experience. Lunch at LONU was beautifully presented, with colorful dishes leaving a lasting impression. Dining at the underwater restaurant M6M was a special treat, akin to eating in an aquarium. For attire, men were fine with a short-sleeved collared shirt, shorts, and sneakers. During our stay in early March, we were fortunate to have clear skies every day without any rain or sudden showers. The sunset cruise was a highlight, as we spotted dolphins and admired a stunning sunset—a memory to cherish forever. The hospitality provided by our butler, Siri, and the entire staff was outstanding. It left such an impression that our family naturally expressed, "We’d love to come back."
