My first visit to Mae Ngat Somboon Chon Dam in Chiang Mai was truly impressive. Many may have seen photos or social media of this place, but let me tell you, the real thing is even more beautiful than the pictures. Especially if you capture it from dawn until sunrise, you'll truly understand the meaning of "nature heals the soul."
Early in the morning, before dawn, the atmosphere around the dam is peaceful and cool. A thin mist floats above the water's surface. The sounds of the wind, birdsong, and the still, mirror-like water make for a slow but blissful start to the morning. The first rays of sunlight slowly emerge from behind the mountains, reflecting on the dam's surface, creating a soft and beautiful image that's hard to look away from. For photography enthusiasts, this moment is truly golden.
As the sun rises, the view of Mae Ngat Dam changes from gentle to vibrant. The blue sky contrasts with the turquoise water and the surrounding mountains, making you feel smaller amidst the vastness of nature. Many choose to relax on a floating raft, sipping warm coffee or enjoying a simple breakfast, savoring an atmosphere that money can't buy.
Later in the morning, as the sun shines brightly, Mae Ngat Dam becomes even more vibrant. The sparkling water is perfect for rafting, kayaking, or simply soaking your feet and letting your mind drift with the breeze. The overall atmosphere is calm and unhurried; it's a peaceful side of Chiang Mai where you can truly connect with yourself.
What impressed me most was the simplicity of the place. There's no luxury, but it's purely charming through nature. The people are friendly, and the slow pace of life makes the day pass by without you realizing it. From dawn till dusk, every moment is beautiful in its own way.
For those who haven't been yet, I highly recommend visiting at least once in your life. Whether you go with family, your loved one, or alone, Mae Ngat Dam will give you peace, beauty, and unforgettable memories. It's not just a tourist destination, but a true haven for the soul. 🌅💚 #ChiangMaiTravel
