Mareeba and the Tablelands
Living in Mareeba feels quiet and simple, with a mix of country town life and tropical surroundings. The days are warm and sunny most of the year, and the town has everything you need—shops, cafes, markets, and a strong farming community. Life moves at a slower pace compared to the city, but that’s part of the charm. You’re close to waterfalls, lakes, and bush tracks, so weekends can be about exploring nature without going far.
The Tablelands overall have a welcoming atmosphere—people are friendly, and many come here for seasonal work or to settle into a more relaxed lifestyle. It can feel a bit isolated at times, but Cairns is only about an hour away if you need more.
At the Riverside Caravan Park, life is pretty straightforward. It’s quiet, with a mix of workers, travellers, and locals staying long-term. Being next to the Barron River makes it peaceful, and you get to know your neighbours quickly. It’s not luxury, but it’s comfortable, affordable, and gives you a good base while living and working in Mareeba.

[Australia] Wallabies gather to get food! Granite Gorge Nature Park
#0yentrip
Granite Gorge Nature Park is about an hour's drive from Cairns. When you arrive at the park, the first thing that catches your eye is the landscape of rugged rocks. The biggest attraction is being able to meet wild rock wallabies while walking through the large grounds. You can feed them, so you can see and touch them up close. The wallabies are very friendly and really cute! I was able to take a leisurely walk while enjoying nature. In addition to rock wallabies, you can also observe various animals and wild birds, and it was a place where you could relax in nature. The entrance fee is reasonable, and you can also purchase food for the wallabies inside the park. Spending time surrounded by nature was truly healing.

Interesting: Emerald Creek Falls 🇦🇺
#timetotravel
Emerald Creek Falls in Far North Queensland, Australia, is a hidden gem tucked away in the lush rainforest. My visit to this serene oasis left me spellbound by its natural beauty.
The journey to the falls was an adventure in itself, with a scenic drive through dense tropical rainforest. Upon reaching the falls, I was greeted by the soothing sound of cascading water. The emerald-hued pool at the base of the falls was an inviting oasis for a refreshing swim.
What makes this place truly special is its untouched, pristine feel. Surrounded by ancient trees and vibrant plant life, it's a perfect escape into nature.
Emerald Creek Falls is not just a breathtaking natural wonder; it's a peaceful haven for those seeking tranquility in the heart of the rainforest. It's a testament to the untouched beauty of Australia's wilderness that's worth the journey to experience.
