| A complete guide to the hidden gem seaside town. Guys, who gets it? I've discovered a super hidden gem seaside town in the UK - Margate. It's got a bohemian vibe and stunning coastal scenery. It's really a great place to visit! Today, I'm going to share my Margate trip with you~ Before you go 📅Best time to visit: May - September, the weather is warm and sunny, perfect for a stroll along the beach. 💰Budget: If you don't shop, the daily budget is around £200 - £300, mainly for transportation, accommodation, and dining. 🚗Transportation: From London, it takes about 1.5 hours by train to Margate. There are many trains, and it's more cost-effective to buy tickets in advance on the Trainline APP. Sightseeing 📍Turner Contemporary This art center is located by the sea and has a super modern architectural style. As the painter Turner once lived in Margate, this place regularly exhibits various contemporary art works and periodically holds exhibitions on different themes. A must-visit for art lovers! 🎫Tickets: Some exhibitions are free, and special exhibitions require tickets, ranging from £10 to £20. 📍Shell Grotto This is a super mysterious and niche attraction. The walls and ceiling of the entire cave are inlaid with shells, forming various intricate patterns and symbols, as if it were the home of a sea elf. It is said that its builder and the reason for its construction are still a mystery~ 🎫Tickets: Around £8 for adults. 📍Margate Beach A traditional English seaside beach with colorful beach huts. Stroll along the coastline, feel the sea breeze, and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. You can also see many locals sunbathing and walking their dogs on the beach, full of life. Itinerary Day 1: Arrive in Margate → Margate Beach → Seafood feast at a seaside restaurant → Stroll along the seaside commercial street Day 2: Turner Contemporary → Shell Grotto → Enjoy a drink at a local bar Food recommendations 🍔Tom Thumb's This is a popular local burger joint. The patties are thick and juicy, and the fries are super crispy. The portions are huge, and one burger is enough to fill you up! Around £10 - £15 per person. 🦀The Sportsman If you want to taste authentic seafood, this is the place to go! The seafood is caught on the same day and is very fresh. The signature crab sandwich is a must-try, with plenty of crab meat and a super satisfying bite. Around £25 - £35 per person. Accommodation experience 🏨The Albion Rooms Located by the sea, open the window and you can see the sea. The room is decorated in a British retro style, warm and comfortable. The owner is very enthusiastic and the breakfast is also very rich. The price is around £100 - £200 per night. Shopping and entertainment There are many unique shops along the beach, where you can buy various handicrafts and vintage items. In the evening, you can go to a local bar, listen to music, and chat with locals to experience the town's nightlife. Tips The Shell Grotto is relatively niche, and the navigation may not be accurate. We take a trip to Margate to visit the Shell Grotto. The entire attraction is very small but it is tied in history. It won’t take you long to explore the Shell Grotto but part of the challenge is using the map to find the different designs. If you are wanting a beautifully handmade gift The gift shop is absolutely amazing. There is activities for children to do before entering the grotto, but I think you were struggle to spend more than an hour in the grotto with children.

Traveled from London to Margate by train for a day trip. Took us an hour and half to get there, beautiful weather and nice beach to walk around. We went to the gallery next to the sea, and stussy shop was amazing, lots of nice cheap stuff you can find. The town is small, lots of vintage shops and art shops, lovely ice cream shops to stop by for a sorbet. I would definitely visit it again! #travel
