The clouds roll by, the rain falls, and the flowers bloom and wither, reminding me of Jiangnan.
In our twilight years, we sit in the courtyard, watching the clouds roll by, listening to the rain, and remembering Jiangnan.
As night falls, the lights come on, and the ancient charm and modernity blend together. In the bustling streets, there is a touch of tranquility. At night, the water street is brightly lit, with golden bricks and green tiles shining in the night. The river winds, the small bridges and flowing water, the breeze blows, and the willow catkins fly, bringing a touch of coolness. This scene reminds people of the distant Jiangnan, and fills the heart with infinite emotion and nostalgia.
The Shuo Shi Yi Jiu Homestay is a place for weary travelers to enjoy a relaxing time and heal their souls.
I really recommend you this little escape near from Chengdu. As a French I really want to visit this park that look like a little French village. I recommend to visit in may-August.
Meishan Sansu Temple | Experience Dongpo culture and visit the hometown of the Three Sus.
| Experience Dongpo culture and visit the hometown of the Three Sus. Located on the southern section of Shahu Street in Dongpo District, Meishan City, Sichuan Province, Sansu Temple is the former residence of the three members of the Tang and Song Eight Great Prose Masters, the three great writers of the Northern Song Dynasty, Su Xun, Su Shi, and Su Zhe.
Here, you can experience Su Shi's childhood, his parents' love, and his longing for a home he could never return to.
After a thousand years, the familiar scent of ink still lingers in the air, and the traces of time are engraved on every brick and tile.
"Don't listen to the sound of the wind and rain, why not sing and walk slowly. A bamboo stick and straw sandals are lighter than a horse, who is afraid? Let a straw raincoat and a life of wind and rain be my life. Life is like a journey, and I am also a traveler."
"Why is life not happy, just because you haven't read Su Dongpo." Mr. Dongpo's life is the best interpretation of "not being happy with things, not being sad with oneself." No matter where fate throws him, he can always make the best of it and live his most open-minded self. Time has passed for more than 900 years, and he still inspires us.

The Song Dynasty stone dragon hidden in the mountains is hard to find for most people...
Actually, when I went to Jiangkou Cliff Tomb, I saw the Jiangkou Sunken Silver Museum under construction on the other side of the river. Although it was officially said to be completed in 2022, it still seems to have no intention of completion. Zhang Xianzhong's Jiangkou Sunken Silver Site has always been quite mysterious and was even selected as one of the top ten archaeological discoveries in 2017.
·
A famous local saying is "Stone dragon faces stone tiger, gold and silver are 10,000 and 5, who can break it, buy Chengdu Mansion". Many people think that this sentence is the code Zhang Xianzhong used to hide treasures, but in fact, Zhang Xianzhong was forced to sink thousands of ships with silver due to his defeat. However, there are traces of this stone dragon and stone tiger. According to the identification of archaeological experts, the stone was carved in the Song Dynasty. In other words, whether the silver is sunk or not, the stone dragon is there, neither sad nor happy.
·
This time I went to Jiangkou to find the stone dragon in the mountains, but it was really hard to find. I drove all the way to the stone dragon in the navigation, and found no traces at all, and it didn't even look like a place with stone carvings. So I parked the car and asked the nearby villagers, and I learned that the stone dragon was in the bamboo forest on the hillside. To visit, you have to walk, and the road is not a normal mountain road, but a small road that the locals walk, so it is really hard to find without the locals leading the way.
·
The stone dragon at first sight is larger than expected, and it is estimated to be more than ten meters. This Song Dynasty stone dragon is different from the religious statues we often see. It is hidden between the mountains and forests, with its head down and tail up, and its body is entrenched on the stone wall. The stone carving uses high relief carving method, with scales and claws, twists and turns, dragon scales and dragon claws are clearly visible, vivid and lifelike. However, after thousands of years of wind and rain, it seems quite deserted here, and the surface is covered with weeds.
·
According to the introduction, the original location of the stone dragon was outside the mountain gate of the Song Dynasty Fuhu Temple, but the temple no longer exists. According to the Jiaqing "Pengshan County Chronicles·Miscellaneous Knowledge", "Stone Dragon, 15 miles east of Pengshan County. Its shape is like a dragon, with a narrow head and a winding body, with a crown and beard exposed, and scales and armor are rugged, with the power of holding rain and clouds, about three or four feet long, as if it were a divine work."
·
The stone tiger was not so lucky. It was smashed in a special era. The stone tiger seen today was rebuilt in the 1980s and moved to a large stone 20 meters away from the stone dragon, but it seems that its head has been damaged again.

Meishan Dongpo Urban Wetland Park.
Located on the northwest side of Dongpo Island (across the lake from Dongpo Lake Square in Meishan City), it covers an area of 964 acres. With the theme of "Dongpo Water Moon" culture, it is an urban wetland park integrating wetland conservation, scientific and cultural education, and recreational and leisure functions. It is the largest urban wetland park in the southwest region. It has a rural style area, a Sansu cultural area, a rare bamboo and wood display area, a strange flower and grass exhibition area, a handicraft production interactive area, a Minjiang viewing area, a high-end commercial and residential area, and a water amusement area. It will truly become the city's reception room in Meishan. Dongpo Island Wetland Park not only brings the city the beautiful scenery of sparkling lakes and flocks of egrets, but also becomes a regulator of the regional climate and the "green lung" of Meishan City, bringing better air and more comfortable temperature. From now on, Meishan is not only a famous historical and cultural city, but also a livable cultural tourism city, and the city's charm will continue to be upgraded. Dongpo Urban Wetland Park is based on "water" and "green", and closely follows the three key points of "Dongpo", "moon", and "water" to highlight Dongpo culture everywhere. With water as the pulse, it fully expresses "moonlight is like water, sprinkled on the wetland park" in terms of spatial form, and the road is like a belt, green is a beach, and water reflects the island, which vividly interprets the cultural theme of "Dongpo Water Moon". Continuing Su Dongpo's concept of scientific water management, using the power of nature, integrating green water, blue water, rainwater, gray water, middle water, and clean water and other ecological water systems, planning a rich ecological environment experience and ecological popular science functions of water and green integration.
Chengdu Surroundings | Tomb Raiding, Exploring the Smoke and Fire of the Han Dynasty.
| Tomb Raiding, Exploring the Smoke and Fire of the Han Dynasty. Although I have been to Pengshan, Chengdu many times, this is my first visit to the Jiangkou Cliff Tombs, a national key cultural relic. Jiangkou Cliff Tombs are located in Jiangkou Ancient Town, which became famous a few years ago due to the discovery of the Jiangkou Sunken Silver. However, the old street is now very desolate, and almost all the residents have moved away. Most of the houses in the ancient town are now dilapidated and in danger of collapse. It seems that in order to cooperate with the construction of the Jiangkou Sunken Silver Museum, the future Jiangkou Ancient Town may be rebuilt as a "new" ancient town without any human smoke and fire.
·
At the end of Jiangkou Ancient Town, you will find the Jiangkou Cliff Tombs Museum. According to a friend, the museum has been closed for many years, but the cliff tomb site next to it is still open to the public. Jiangkou Cliff Tombs are a type of tomb found in the Minjiang River Basin of Sichuan during the Han Dynasty. They are carved into the mountainside and resemble human dwellings. The earliest tombs date back to the late Western Han Dynasty, and the latest date to the Three Kingdoms period. The most numerous and exquisite cliff tombs are from the Eastern Han Dynasty.
·
Of course, there are 4,580 Jiangkou Cliff Tombs of archaeological significance, including seven key protection areas such as Changshan Ridge Cliff Tombs and Gaojiagou Cliff Tombs. However, only the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 tombs of the No. 951 tomb group near the museum are open to tourists.
·
Although most of the Jiangkou Cliff Tombs appear empty and somewhat eerie from a distance, upon closer inspection, you will find that the tomb chambers are actually modeled after ground-level buildings, like homes in another world. Almost all of them have a front room and a rear bedroom, left and right wing rooms, a hall, an inner room, a kitchen, a closet, and even a dining table, stove, table cabinet, dressing table, and study.
·
What is amazing is that most of these architectural components and household items are not placed inside the tombs, but are carved out of the rock at the same time as the tomb chambers. In other words, they are mostly integrated with the tomb chambers. The style of these mountain-carved caves is similar to the deceased's former residence.
·
What impressed me most were the exquisite bas-reliefs on the walls inside and outside the tombs. For example, the door of Tomb No. 3 has a layer with two kneeling sheep facing each other, and a bear-headed human figure in the middle. This is quite unique. In ancient times, bears symbolized the auspiciousness and might of men, and here they are probably meant to ward off evil spirits.
·
For example, at the entrance of Tomb No. 3, there is a high-relief stone dog on the lower left wall of the tomb chamber. Its left front leg is hollowed out, and it is majestic and brave. It should be faithfully guarding the owner's home.
·
For example, on the wall of Tomb No. 2, there is a very vivid and interesting bas-relief called "Husband and Wife Harmony". The picture shows a man kneeling in front of the stove, holding a ladle in one hand and a brush in the other, cooking. A woman with a baby on her back supports the man's arm with both hands, her face full of tenderness and love.
·
On the mountain behind the cliff tombs, there is a provincial-level protected ancient building that was demolished and restored here - Zitu Temple. Zitu Temple was first built in the Han Dynasty and has been rebuilt in the second year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty, the sixth year of Longqing, and the twelfth year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty. The architectural style is unique, with a single-eaved hip roof, barrel tiles, and nine ridges. The roof is decorated with figures of immortals and beasts, and the lower part is a wooden structure with eight rafters and a raised beam. The building has a width and depth of 3 rooms each, and the corner, infill, column head, and climbing beam have a total of 28 dougong brackets. It is worth mentioning that the use of upper angulation in Zitu Temple is the second example found in ancient Chinese architecture (the only other example is Miaoguan Temple in Suzhou), demonstrating the ingenuity of ancient architects.

A thousand years of prosperity, a thousand years of grievances, transformed into the eternal ocean around the fallen.
The place found in the book,
deserted,
under the tilted boulder,
the exquisite past is vaguely visible,
the weeds seem to tell the vigorous vitality of another world, but it has nothing to do with them.
The current situation of Bashu Grottoes is heartbreaking,
the surrounding mountains stand in the long years,
the dusty ridge and the bumpy rock,
like made of metal sheets,
so sharp and clear,
as if to shatter the sky,
shatter civilization.
Then,
countless broken walls are randomly displayed in front of you,
a thousand years of prosperity,
a thousand years of grievances,
transformed into the eternal ocean around the fallen.

Pengzu Mountain City Walk - Pengshan District.
Pengzu Mountain is located near Chengdu! Less crowded and peaceful, fresh air, suitable for all ages. Worth a visit! Especially suitable for taking children to climb mountains on weekends, experience Chinese health culture. In my opinion, the scenic area is well maintained 👍, clean and hygienic, including public toilets. Located in Pengzu Mountain Scenic Area, tickets are also cheap, adult tickets are 28 yuan each, there are also sightseeing cars, sightseeing cars in the scenic area are ¥15.
Be sure to go early in the morning, play for a morning, go down the mountain to eat floating soup, which is a local specialty, very delicious. Old place floating soup. This is Pengshan's top-ranked floating soup, with a generous portion and a very delicious appearance. The floating soup is mainly a mixture of various vegetable flavors, supplemented by high soup, with a light and non-greasy taste, so the dipping sauce is the soul!
There is also an unnamed bean curd, which is also a fly restaurant 😄, but it is really delicious! The bean curd is tender, and its dipping sauce is also excellent! Gaode map search: Pengshan District Suojing Road 39
Liang San Fat Intestine is also an old brand that has been open for many years! Ordinary small shop environment, be sure to order braised fat intestine, cold mixed bamboo shoots, minced pork steamed egg,
The bamboo shoots are very tender, hand-torn, the braised fat intestine is clean and well-seasoned, no side dishes!
Meishan Mayi Temple
Mayi Temple is very close to the downtown area of Meishan. A narrow path leads to the entrance of the scenic area. There's no need to go to the visitor center; you can reach Mayi Temple by climbing the steps. It seems that the Meishan Taoist Association also operates here. The place is very quiet with very few tourists, and occasionally you might see a Taoist priest.
The temple was originally built during the Tang Dynasty, and the existing buildings are remnants of the Ming Dynasty reconstruction. It is named after the statue of the Four-Eyed Immortal. Mayi Temple includes the Chongtong Hall, Wenchang Hall, Ruyi Study, Cihang Hall, Taisui Hall, Nanjidian Hall, Zhangxian Hall, and the Daodejing Stele Pavilion, among others.
It is said that Su Xun came here to pray for a child, and later he had two sons, Su Shi and Su Zhe. After successfully praying for children, Su Xun personally planted a tree in the temple. Later, a Taoist in the temple hung a lamp on the tree, calling it the Divine Lamp Tree.

I have long wanted to visit the Three Su Temple, and this time I was lucky to encounter the curator's explanation. As we walked along, listening to the life and poetry of Su Shi, the curator was so moved that he even shed tears.
After listening to the explanation, I slowly started to wander around. After multiple renovations and expansions, the 'Five-Mu Garden' described by Su Shi has now become a classical garden covering over a hundred mu. The garden is vast, the environment serene, and the bamboo lush, though much of it was built by later generations.
The Su family residence is divided into three courtyards. In the center of the first courtyard is the Hall of Offerings, where statues of the Three Sus are enshrined. Moving inward, in front of the Qixian Hall in the second courtyard, there is a yellow thorn tree said to have been planted by Su Xun himself. This tree and the ancient well beside it are the only true relics of the old house. The Laifeng Pavilion in the third courtyard used to be the Su family's study. The sitting statue of Su Dongpo in front of the Pifeng Pavilion on the west side is perfect for taking commemorative photos. Although most of the calligraphy in the Stele Gallery on the east side are replicas, they are still wonderful to behold, including Su Dongpo's four famous steles: 'Poem of Welcoming and Sending the Gods at the Luochi Temple in Liuzhou,' 'Stele of Loyalty Temple,' 'Record of the Drunken Old Man Pavilion,' and 'Record of the Fengle Pavilion.'
Overall, the environment here is very comfortable, making it a great place to visit in the summer to escape the heat. I tried the Dongpo Pork, which was large in portion, fragrant, and tender—a delightful experience.
Sichuan's Shadowless Church: A Religious Architecture Beyond Spatial Boundaries
In the Sino-French Agricultural Science and Technology Park in Meishan, Sichuan, stands an eye-catching pure white church. Known as the 'Shadowless Church,' this structure was co-created by Shanghai Dachuan Architectural Design Office and Latitude Design Institution. It breaks away from the typical closed form of churches, drawing significant attention with its open and transparent design.
The Shadowless Church is situated in a lavender field within the Sino-French Agricultural Science and Technology Park, creating an elegant and charming Southern French ambiance. From a distance, the church appears ethereal and unreal, but upon closer inspection, one discovers that its entire structure is composed of square-cut aluminum tubes. With no enclosed walls, the church is completely transparent inside and out, prompting reflections on the relationships between humans and the divine, and between humans and nature. As the viewing angle changes and light and shadow shift, the church seems to come alive, presenting different appearances.
The construction of the Shadowless Church took only two months, with the design team meticulously attending to every detail. The connections between the aluminum tubes are seamless, and the load-bearing structures are cleverly hidden in the ceiling to avoid visual clutter. The use of environmentally friendly and durable aluminum materials not only facilitated construction but also minimized ecological impact.
With its transparent and pure form, coupled with the surrounding elegant lavender field, the Shadowless Church has undoubtedly become a new popular spot in the Sino-French Agricultural Science and Technology Park. It transcends the spatial form of traditional churches and achieves a perfect integration between architecture and nature, making it a poetic religious building.

The most representative hotel in Meishan!!! Super value! No pitfalls
Hotel Review | Recommend Chaotang Hotel near Sansu Temple in Meishan
I visited Sansu Temple in Meishan during the holidays. Although I was quite tired from walking, I was very satisfied with the hotel I chose, and I recommend it to friends who are going to Sansu Temple.
Here are a few key points: Superior location:
The hotel is located in the large commercial area of Rose International. There is a Pacific Cinema next to the hotel, and a Camellia Tea House opposite. It's very convenient for buying food, strolling around, and daily entertainment, all within a few steps. The hotel is only one or two kilometers away from Sansu Temple, you can walk, take a taxi, or choose the No. 2 bus downstairs for direct access.② Free breakfast and snacks
All room types in the hotel include breakfast. You can also upgrade for 18 yuan, but I didn't, the free one is the best [Hee Ha 1
Then there are the check-in snacks, which include macaron cookies and spicy dried tofu, quite delicious.
Clean and hygienic with full house intelligence
I won't go into detail about the intelligent guest control and smart toilet.
The main thing is that the room is as clean and tidy as the sample pictures, unlike many hotels that use filtered fake pictures and are actually very shabby. I checked and found that this hotel is relatively new. Recommended for people with high environmental hygiene requirements.

Sichuan Meishan: Cultural Holy Land - The Three Su Shrine!
Located in Dongpo District, Meishan City, Sichuan Province, the Three Su Shrine is the former residence of Su Shi, Su Che, and Su Xun. All three were great literary figures of the Northern Song Dynasty, and their poetry is considered a literary treasure.
Their residence became a place of reverence for later generations. During the Southern Song Dynasty, the former residence was converted into a shrine. However, it was destroyed by war at the end of the Ming Dynasty and has since been rebuilt several times, passing down to the present day.
The shrine consists of the front hall (ancient shrine gate), the banquet hall, Qixian Hall, Laifeng Pavilion, east and west wing rooms, and corridors.
The style embodies the characteristics of Qing Dynasty garden literati shrines, with red walls embracing, green water winding, lotus ponds interconnected, ancient trees shading, small bridges frequently spanning, and halls and pavilions hidden in dense foliage. This forms an island residence feature with three parts water and two parts bamboo, with pavilions and terraces, simple and elegant, with couplets and inscriptions that are rich in meaning.
It belongs to a three-entry courtyard with four sides, aligned on the same central axis from south to north, which is quite exquisite and worth exploring.
Visit Meishan, the Three Su Shrine.
Hello Hotel: Duplex Family Room
🛬 Visiting Meishan, I booked a duplex family room in advance. It is said to be near Meishan East Station online, but actually, it's quite far. The taxi fare from the East Station is about 7 yuan, and it's also around 7 yuan from the Impression Water Street. The location is quite convenient though.
🏦 As soon as I entered the hotel, I felt that the front desk service was exceptionally good. The room was also very nice, clean, spacious, and comfortable. The duplex family room has a large area, and the room facilities are quite automated, with a very nice shower. 🍞🥃 The buffet breakfast the next day, we came to eat after 8 am and there was very little food left, we could only have a simple bite as shown in the picture.
🏡🛀🏻 Overall, it's still very good, the price is quite reasonable, the room settings are relatively new, with a laundry room and a simple gym, which I highly recommend.

Meishan · Passing by Yuanjing Building
Attracted by Yuanjing Building as a landmark of Meishan, it is also one of the tallest and largest ancient-style building complexes in the country. Historically, it was built under the supervision of the governor of Meizhou during the Northern Song Dynasty. It was damaged by wars during the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties and was restored during the Qianlong era of the Qing dynasty.
Su Dongpo's 'Record of Yuanjing Building in Meizhou' praises the current prefect, Lord Li Xi Sheng, as a friend of the gentlemen. Simple yet cultured, firm yet benevolent, clear-minded without being meticulous, everyone thought these were easy tasks. As his term was about to end, they couldn't bear to see him leave and unanimously asked him to stay. The emperor did not deny their request. After staying for three years, the people's trust increased, and there were no more troubles. Therefore, he built the Yuanjing Building on the northern rampart of the governor's residence, where he would spend days with guests and officials. At that time, I was in Xuzhou, and the people of my province would always mention Lord Li's kindness in their letters and asked for a written record.
Looking up at the 13-story, 80-meter-tall main building from Binhu Road, it faces Dongpo Wetland Park across Dongpo Lake. It inevitably reminds one of Du Fu's Jiang Pavilion, Tengwang Pavilion, and Yuewang Building. However, what is astonishing is that unlike these riverfront pavilions, which are arranged with poetry, history, and city culture exhibitions on each floor, the building is rented out for hotels and various commercial uses. It feels oddly out of place, even reminiscent of Guanyinqiao Hongding International. With confusion, it's time to leave.
Experience the ultimate in trendy entertainment, traversing the prosperous era at the Great Song Dynasty's Everlasting City
Night view of the water street: A dreamy journey where light and shadow intertwine, a city that never sleeps full of charm.
Summer begins here, and there's a unique pleasure in enjoying the cool breeze and admiring the moon at night. If there's a place that takes you through the architectural culture of the Song Dynasty, where you can also enjoy the sound of ancient flutes and watch the night lights while rowing in a black-awning boat, would you be interested in seeing it? If you were to mention one of the most popular check-in spots in Sichuan, it would undoubtedly be Meishan Water Street.
As the lanterns light up, the sound of music begins, and joy can be found everywhere on the water street. At dusk, colorful lights gradually illuminate around the water street, and the courtyard-style red wall and tile-roofed buildings, stone paths, pavilions, and arch bridges all don a colorful attire, instantly becoming dazzlingly beautiful, as if returning to the ancient capital's night market, with lights reflecting the glory of the bygone Song Dynasty.
Strolling along the stone street of the water street and passing through the arch stone bridges, the most eye-catching sight is definitely the 'Instagram-famous' fluorescent tree by the river, about three stories tall.
The tree trunk and roots are fitted with glowing LED tubes, changing colors in sync with the stage performances in the middle of the river, creating a truly dreamy effect. The water stage also features a fog spray effect, and with the sound of the flowing river, the misty atmosphere, pavilions, and white marble arch bridges create an intoxicating night scene, no wonder the water street has become a favorite photo spot for many influencers.
On both sides of the water street, the lights are brilliant, like stars from the sky falling to earth. Each light tells its own story, bright or dim, near or far, weaving together into a sea of dreamy lights. A gentle breeze blows, causing ripples on the water's surface, reflecting the colorful lights as if the entire universe is spinning and dancing in this small body of water.
The ancient buildings in the distance are even more quaint and elegant under the light, with their flying eaves and painted rafters outlined by the soft lighting. The ancient bridge spans the water, with a constant stream of people on it, some stopping to admire the view, others taking photos to capture the moment, everyone wishing to forever freeze this beautiful scene in their hearts.
From time to time, the melodious singing and cheerful laughter can be heard on the water street, the enthusiastic hawking of vendors and the pleasant conversations of tourists. The snack stalls on the street emit tempting aromas, with various Sichuan specialties making one's mouth water. After tasting a spicy snack, the spiciness dances on the tip of the tongue, contrasting with the coolness of the night, leaving a lasting impression.
Continuing on, you'll unknowingly reach the end of the water street. Here stands a towering pagoda, adorned with lights that make it look like a resplendent palace. Climbing the pagoda, you can overlook the entire water street, where the lights and waves reflect each other, like a flowing painting. I can't help but exclaim that this is truly a heavenly place, breathtakingly beautiful. The night view of the water street is enchanting, making one linger and forget to return. Here, you feel the magic of light and shadow, experience the charm of the night. It's destined to be an unforgettable trip, and these wonderful memories will be cherished forever.
If you want to travel through the prosperous Song Dynasty and enjoy the architecture and cultural performances of Meishan Water Street, remember to save this article. When planning a trip to Sichuan in the future, you'll have one more check-in option!
