In addition to its beautiful sea views, the Cape of Good Hope Scenic Area is also loved for its relaxing atmosphere. Experience the nostalgic Old Mountain Line Rail Bike at Shengxing Station in Miaoli Sanyi
📍Address: No. 83, Sanyi Township, Miaoli County, 367
💞Recommended Reason:
A must-try rail bike ride starting from Shengxing Station, passing through Tunnel No. 2 with light projections, Longteng Broken Bridge, and Yutengping Iron Bridge. Enjoy the gentle breeze, fresh air, and the panoramic view of the mountains and the transparent feeling on both sides of the iron bridge. The entire journey takes about 70 minutes, with guided commentary at the Broken Bridge. It's perfect for a family outing. Don't forget to bring mosquito repellent🤣.
We chose to visit on a weekday and didn't pre-book the bike tickets. Luckily, there were tickets available on-site. For those who want to experience the rail bike, it's recommended to pre-book tickets to avoid disappointment😊
The Famous Landmark of Miaoli, Longteng Broken Bridge
Location: On Miaoli County Highway 49 in Sanyi Township, Miaoli County
Introduction: Longteng, formerly known as 'Fish Vine Flat', is named after a legend where the early settlers were troubled by a carp spirit in the Carp Pond. To subdue the mischievous carp spirit, the settlers planted fish vine throughout the Longteng mountain area. At the same time, they named the high mountain to the east 'Guandao Mountain', with the intention of using Guandao Mountain to cut the fish vine and poison the carp spirit. Eventually, the fish monster ceased to harm the people, and the residents lived and worked in peace and contentment. After World War II, when villages were established in Taiwan, the villagers thought the name 'Fish Vine' was inelegant and renamed it Longteng.
On the morning of April 21, 1935, a major earthquake struck central Taiwan, with the epicenter near Guandao Mountain. The Sanyi area was severely affected, and the majestic Longxi Bridge on the mountain railway line was completely destroyed. After the earthquake, a new bridge was built to the west of the original bridge, leaving behind the arched pillars standing in the sun and wind, as a memorial for future generations. When passing through Sanyi by train, the sight of the Longteng Broken Bridge remnants is striking and leaves a deep impression.
Tickets: Free
Opening Hours: All day
Experience: The Longteng Broken Bridge is certainly one of the very famous attractions. It has taken its current form due to the impact of Taiwan's largest earthquake, the 921 earthquake, which is a stark reminder of the terrifying power of nature. Next to it is the second-generation Longteng railway bridge, allowing visitors to appreciate both the first and second-generation bridges at the same time.

Qiding Tunnel near the Beach
#winhkflight
Address: 350, Taiwan, Miaoli County, Zhunan Township.
Highlights: The Qiding Tunnel is a pretty cool hidden historical spot! There are 2 tunnels, 1 is longer than the other which is why they called it a “ mother and son tunnel “. It has a bullet stain left from world war 2 on the wall of the tunnel from the entrance. There is not too many tourists here and you can spend around 40 minutes for a nice and relaxing walk. It’s a great experience with harmony atmosphere. I sure will visit here more frequently to relax and meditate to recharge.
I want to travel to Hong Kong to discover the stories of resilience and adaptation of Hong Kong's people through the up and downs along the history.

Glamping Hygge Hill
#summerbreak
One stay and four meals. When you arrive at the camp, you will have afternoon tea and experience DIY wine glasses. Dinner is provided by the camp. If you don’t like it, you can ask first.
The rest area is very beautiful. Red and white wine, beer, coffee and tea are available at any time!
Afternoon tea is available until five o'clock, and there are many types to choose from!
Have dinner at 6:30, and if you are full, you can order drinks at the small bar next to it, it’s totally complimentary!
Originally there were activities in the campfire area, roasting marshmallows, drinking wine, etc., but because there was a typhoon that day, the wind was quite strong, so it was changed to eat roasted wild boar with roasted wild vegetables in the rest area.
Alcohol is served in the rest area, and a whole pot of chicken soup is stewed. We participated in the midnight snack that day, including a total of four of us.
The camp steward prepared a lot of food, and I enjoyed eating!
There is still an hour of yoga class to participate in the next morning, and breakfast is delivered to the door of the tent in a picnic basket.
The breakfast style is as shown in the picture, very delicious!
A Magical Castle Dining Experience
#taipei #cafe #taiwan #view #mountains #romantic #roadtrip
We had a roadtrip in Taiwan and chance upon this magical cafe located at 364, Taiwan, Miaoli County, Dahu Township, 33號 called cheateu in the air.
This is a must visit if you are someone who wants to dine in a magical castle(somehow it looks like Harry Potter castle) with ama, ingredients view of Miaoli country side.
Coming here requires an entrance fee, but if you are dining or having a drink, the tickets offsets the food price in the dinning area. If you want to bring your partner and surprise her, this is definitely the place. But be warned, the food prices here are on the higher end side.
Miaoli Secret Hot Spring Hotel
Tai'an Guanzhi is located in Tai'an Township, Miaoli County. It is hard to imagine that there is such a unique hot spring hotel in the lush mountains and forests.
The buildings in Tai'an Guanzhi are very unique, and both the use and experience are amazing. The best thing planned is the outdoor hot spring pool, which breaks the impression of public hot springs. The pool and landscape are designed to be extremely comfortable. It doesn't feel like you are in a hot spring hotel, but instead gives you a sense of being in a landscape painting.
In terms of meals, dinner and breakfast are served in the Xingyun Hall and the Liushui Hall respectively. The dinner is a dish rich in local aboriginal characteristics, exquisitely prepared and tastes good; the breakfast is buffet style, and the restaurant has a good view. Go to the flowing water in the valley and remember that the taro porridge is delicious.
It is a hot spring hotel where you can appreciate the architectural features and experience the mountain scenery. It is recommended.

Before I came here, I couldn't imagine that there would be so many flowers and plants in a caf, it would have a kind of wonderland you put in the garden.
Because of the love of the hostess for art, the artists complete performance in the coffee gallery, from the garden facilities to the hundreds of flowers, to the ceramic utensils in the exhibition hall, all show the mountain hibiscus and other The difference between the coffee shop and the garden, in Nanzhuang Township, this piece has not been too much development and pollution environment, Shan Furong does have the illusion that I am in the paradise.

Embark on a Pilgrimage to Taiwan's Sacred Mountain - Dabajianshan
The Journey to the Hundred Peaks Begins with the 500 NTD Bill
Have you ever noticed the mountain on the back of the 500 NTD bill?
It is the famous Dabajianshan, one of Taiwan's three major sharp peaks.
It is also a sacred mountain for the Saisiyat and Atayal tribes.
Its barrel-shaped appearance is renowned worldwide as a spectacular peak.
To fully appreciate the true face of Dabajianshan is not easy.
Due to the ever-changing high mountain climate, clouds and mist often shroud Dabajianshan in a mysterious veil.
Therefore, to fully enjoy the scenery of Dabajianshan, you need good weather, arrive early in the morning, and have a bit of luck.
The journey to Dabajianshan usually starts from the Guanwu Dalu Forest Road. The road is gentle and rich in mountain forest ecology. Besides walking, you can also ride a bicycle. After traveling 19 kilometers, you will reach the Dabajianshan trailhead and start climbing to the overnight spot, Jioujiou Lodge.
Jioujiou Lodge has a large area with many beds, cooking facilities, meal orders, and supplies. You can rest here and chat with fellow hikers. In the evening, you can watch the beautiful sunset and enjoy the clear starry sky at night. If you can see the stars, the chances of seeing the clear Dabajianshan the next day are also very high!
The next morning, start the pilgrimage to the sacred mountain. Ascend along the mountain path to the 3050-meter high ground, where you can see Dabajianshan and the Holy Ridge behind it, glowing golden in the sunrise.
Continue walking with the sea of clouds accompanying you, enjoying the golden grasslands and endless mountain ranges along the way, until you reach the spot depicted on the 500 NTD bill. Be sure to bring a 500 NTD bill for a photo!
Don't forget to take a picture with Dabajianshan behind you!
After admiring the surrounding mountain scenery, move forward to reach the base of Dabajianshan. Up close, the base is incredibly majestic and spectacular. Dabajianshan, like wearing a crown emitting golden holy light, quietly guards the land of Taiwan, making one marvel at the wonders of nature. The fatigue of the journey instantly disappears, and you feel spiritually redeemed, grateful for the sacred mountain scenery bestowed by the mountain gods.
Whether viewed from afar or up close, Dabajianshan offers completely different scenery from different angles. Its beauty and grandeur are indescribable in words. You must visit once in your lifetime for a pilgrimage that cleanses the body and mind.
Please note that this is one of Taiwan's hundred high mountains. Be well-prepared with equipment, physical fitness, maps, food, and warm clothing before the trip.
Do not go up the mountain in bad weather! The mountain will always be there, safety first!
Miaoli Huoyanshan: A Hiking Adventure Through Majestic Geological Wonders
Miaoli Huoyanshan is renowned for its unique terrain and stunning red mountains, making visitors feel as if they are in an exotic land. Due to its loose geological structure, the mountain walls often weather, forming ancient canyons and cliffs that are quite challenging.
Our hiking journey starts from the trailhead, where we can admire the spectacular canyons, unique rock formations, and volcanic breccia along the way. Upon reaching the summit, we can overlook the magnificent scenery of Miaoli's mountains and the Taichung Basin. Although the trail is relatively steep, the breathtaking views during the climb make it well worth the effort 😊
Miaoli Hidden Gem: 'White Cabin in Nanzhuang'
📝This is a white chapel surrounded by lush greenery. Many people come here to take wedding photos. The cabin on the lawn looks like a small European estate. The two trees in front make for a great foreground. It's recommended to come at sunset for even better photos. Perfect for a quick photo stop! (Remember to apply mosquito repellent in summer)
📍Nanzhuang Township, Miaoli County (right opposite the Yangxie Renjia Restaurant)
Miaoli|A Summer Scene Straight Out of a Japanese Anime.
I first learned about the Zimu Tunnel because of the Taiwanese indie band Hello Nico. This location was featured in the music video for their famous single 'What Next.' The video uses a continuous shot technique, starting from the wooden stairs to the tunnel entrance, making me feel like I'm part of the MV. However, more people visit this place because they think the Qiding Zimu Tunnel resembles the tunnel in 'Spirited Away.' Do you feel the same?
Besides the tunnel, don't forget to check out the observation deck! It's just a three-minute walk from the station and offers a great view of passing trains and distant wind turbines. At first glance, these turbines seem to float on the sea, giving a magical feel! Additionally, the Qiding Zimu Tunnel has its own observation deck where you can see the scenery of Xiangshan and Hsinchu. Don't miss it!
📍Qiding Zimu Tunnel and Qiding Observation Deck
Take the Taiwan Railways to 'Qiding' station to reach the destination.
*Although Qiding is part of Miaoli, it is closer to Hsinchu, making it more suitable to include in a Hsinchu itinerary.
