Mya Thein Tan Pagoda – A Beautiful Memory from Home 📸✨🇲🇲
Mya Thein Tan Pagoda in Mingun holds such a special place in my heart 💖. I visited it about six years ago when I was still in Myanmar 🇲🇲. It’s one of those memories that I’ll always carry with me.
When I Visited – Beautiful & Calm 😍
When I went, the pagoda was in amazing condition—the bright white layers, the peaceful surroundings, and the perfect photo spots 🌤️. I remember walking around, climbing up the curved paths, and just enjoying the quiet, peaceful atmosphere. It felt so calm and beautiful 🤍.
Perfect Photo Spots – Angles On Point 🔥
What I loved the most was how every angle was perfect for photos! 📸 Whether you stood at the front, the side, or climbed up a little higher, the white layers always made your pictures look stunning ✨.
One of the best moments was when the local kids 👦👧 came over to help us take photos. At first, I thought they were just being playful, but they actually knew exactly where to stand and how to get the best angles 🎯! Thanks to them, the photos turned out soooo good 🔥—they’re still some of my favorite travel memories 💕.
What I Heard Now – Heartbreaking 💔
Recently, I heard that the pagoda’s condition is now much worse after the earthquake 😢. It’s not just a small crack—it sounds like it’s really damaged now. Hearing that honestly broke my heart 💭. I feel so grateful I got to see it when it was still so beautiful.
Final Thoughts ✨
The peaceful vibe, the perfect photo spots, and the sweet local kids—it’s a memory I’ll always treasure 💫.

Myanmar White Temple Sinbyume Pagoda
#January travel support event
#Myanmar #Myanmar travel
Mandalay, Myanmar is a town with nothing to do except for the suburbs.
It is called the second city of Myanmar,
and it feels similar to Yangon,
but it also feels like a lively and commercial city!
The most famous places in Mandalay are Sagaing Hill,
U Bein Bridge, and Sinbyume Pagoda,
and Sinbyume Pagoda is a white temple,
and one of the most beautiful pagodas.
I saw many different pagodas in Myanmar,
and if I saw a pagoda that was colorful and saturation-
with gold and red, this one was all white,
but after seeing only golden temples,
it was really unique and amazing. It's completely white!
It looks good when you wear bright colors 📸

Mesmerizing Mingun Pahtodawgyi temple
#temples
It is an enormous one of the largest unfinished pagoda located in Mingun, Myanmar. This is one of the famous temple in Myanmar. It is 10 kilometers away from Mandalay. This pagoda is also one of the must visit temple during your trip in Mandalay.
As this is a Buddhist temple, you can actually enter and go inside to a prayer room. The local people around will offer you to buy their flower and you could use it for prayer. Besides, they are also nice and warm people. I love local people whenever I go to any Myanmar's places.
In order on how to get there, I suggest you to hire a tricycle driver and ride you to some places including this temple. This will possibly the best option exploring Mandalay. You could also ask the driver to ride you to any must-visit temple. Save energy and time, so it is a win-win.
Even though this is unfinished temple, it is still look beautiful and the architecture was so magical.

Pahtodawgyi Pagoda
#familytravel
We travelled to the village of Mingun by boat from Mandalay and as we approached we saw what appeared to be a large sandstone mesa. This seemed a bit odd because there was nothing similar in the surrounding country. When we got close we discovered that it was man-made, and was the remnants of a huge brick pagoda that was never finished. It was intended to be 150 metres high but only the first 50 metres were built. It was subsequently damaged by earthquakes so there are big cracks and large chunks have fallen down.
While this may all seem rather mundane, the sheer size of it was fascinating. It is hard to believe the amount of work and materials that were used to build it. I can only imagine how magnificent it would have been if the extra 100 metres had been added.

Pahtodawgyi
#thingstodo
It is worth seeing this massive structure to get an idea how massive it would have been had they completed the construction. The Mingun Pahtodawgyi is an incomplete monument stupa in Mingun, northwest of Mandalay. The ruins are the remains of a massive construction project begun by King Bodawpaya in 1790 which was intentionally left unfinished. This could have been the world’s largest pagoda, intended to reach a staggering height of 152 meters.

Mingun Bell: Myanmar's Majestic Bronze Resonance
#springitinerary
Nestled in the serene village of Mingun, just 11 kilometres north of Mandalay along the Irrawaddy River, the Mingun Bell stands as a monumental testament to Myanmar's rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
🔔 A Colossal Symbol of Devotion
Commissioned by King Bodawpaya in 1808, the Mingun Bell was intended to accompany the grand Mingun Pahtodawgyi stupa. Cast from bronze, the bell weighs an impressive 90,718 kilograms (approximately 199,999 pounds), making it one of the largest ringing bells in the world. Its weight is traditionally remembered in Myanmar through the mnemonic "Min Hpyu Hman Hman Pyaw," with each syllable representing the number five in Burmese numerology.
🕰️ Historical Resilience
The bell was completed in 1810 but faced adversity when a significant earthquake in 1839 dislodged it from its supports. It remained grounded until 1896, when it was successfully re-suspended by the Irrawaddy Flotilla Company using screw jacks and levers, funded by public subscription.
📏 Architectural Marvel
Height: 12 feet (3.66 meters)
Diameter at Rim: 16 feet (4.88 meters)
Circumference: 50.75 feet (15.47 meters)
Thickness: 6 to 12 inches (15–30 centimetres)
Total Height from Rim to Top: 20.7 feet (6.31 meters)
Notably, the bell lacks a clapper and is rung by striking its outer surface.
🧭 Visiting the Mingun Bell
Visitors can reach Mingun by a scenic ferry ride across the Irrawaddy River from Mandalay, which takes approximately one hour upstream and 40 minutes downstream. The bell is housed in a small pavilion near the Mingun Pahtodawgyi, allowing for an immersive experience into Myanmar's historical and spiritual landscape.

Hsinbyume Pagoda: Myanmar's Serene White Marvel
#springitinerary
Perched on the banks of the Irrawaddy River in Mingun, just 11 kilometres northwest of Mandalay, the Hsinbyume Pagoda—also known as Myatheindan Pagoda—stands as a luminous testament to love, spirituality, and architectural ingenuity.
🕊️ A Monument of Love and Devotion
Commissioned in 1816 by King Bagyidaw of the Konbaung dynasty, the pagoda was built in memory of his first consort and cousin, Princess Hsinbyume, who tragically passed away during childbirth in 1812. The name "Hsinbyume" translates to "White Elephant Princess," symbolizing purity and reverence in Burmese culture.
🏯 Architectural Symbolism: Mount Meru on Earth
Departing from traditional Burmese pagoda designs, Hsinbyume Pagoda is modelled after the mythical Mount Meru, considered the centre of the universe in Buddhist cosmology. Its striking white structure features seven concentric terraces with undulating wave-like patterns, representing the seven mountain ranges surrounding Mount Meru. Atop these terraces sits a central stupa, symbolizing the sacred mountain's summit.
🌅 A Photographer's Dream
The pagoda's pristine white façade, contrasted against the azure sky, offers breathtaking vistas, especially during sunrise and sunset. The soft golden hues of dawn and dusk accentuate the pagoda's intricate details, making it a favoured spot for photographers and travellers seeking tranquillity.
🛕 Visiting Tips
Getting There: Reach Mingun by a scenic 1-hour ferry ride from Mandalay along the Irrawaddy River. Alternatively, hire a taxi or join a guided tour for a more direct route.
Best Time to Visit: Early morning or late afternoon to enjoy cooler temperatures and optimal lighting for photography.

A Day trip to Hsinpyushin Pagoda
#favouriteitinerary
Hsinphyushin Pagoda used to be very popular among tourists! It was a part of their itinerary while visiting Bagan, Myanmar. The pagoda was fully white with photo spots all around. It’s somewhat similar to the ones we see in Thailand. There are also local kids there that will patiently take photos for you for a small tip for $1-2.
I recommend renting your own car there as ride hailing or public transport is almost impossible. The place is also very close to Min Gun Bell which is very popular as well for a short stop if you want (3rd photo). It was known to be the heaviest bell in the world for a while back then! It also has a long history.

I definitely recommend visiting when it gets safer to travel in Myanmar!

[Myanmar] A photogenic white pagoda ♡
A must-see spot on a trip to Myanmar is a pagoda. ✨
There are countless pagodas in Myanmar, but here are some recommended pagodas that are pure white and rare. ♡
The pure white Hsinbyume Pagoda is located in Mingun, about an hour and a half from Mandalay, Myanmar's second largest city.
It is painted white once every two years, so the whole pagoda is pure white, and its shape makes it look like a big wedding cake. 🤭
The contrast with the blue sky is also amazing. 😍
It is a little inconvenient to access, but Mandalay has an international airport, so be sure to stretch your legs and check it out when you travel to Myanmar. ♡
You can get to Mingun from Mandalay by boat, but be careful as there is only one boat a day that departs at 9am! You can also get there by taxi☺️
[Address] 3248+8M6, Min Kun, Myanmar
[Entrance fee] 5000 Kyat (about 360 yen)

Hsyinbyume Pagoda, the white pagoda of the Irrawaddy River, was built by the grandson of King Bodawpaya as a memorial to his love for Queen Hsinbyume. It is often referred to as the 'Taj Mahal of the Irrawaddy River.'

The number of temple towers in Myanmar can make the world's tourists feel shocked. For outsiders, it is difficult to remember their names one by one in the face of almost identical temple towers. But there is an "alternative" Mingong stupa, whose unique "castle" structure has made many people deeply remember it.
Myanmar is a country with a long history. The glory of the past has left many ancient buildings on its land, attracting people from all over the world to experience its cultural charm. However, you can know that at that time, as the most powerful Minggong dynasty, it was regrettable to leave a "unfinished building".
Mingon Pagoda is an unfinished palace built by King Mengyun of Myanmar for his queen and one of the largest brick buildings in the world. However, despite the fact that the Gongbang Dynasty was rich and powerful, this huge pagoda was terminated by the death of the king. However, this magnificent project, built with bricks and only 50 meters high, is still the largest ancient pagoda in Myanmar, and still exudes the domineering power of the royal pagoda.

Although Mingon is the farthest town in the four ancient cities of Mandalay, it is famous for its huge clock. Every day, visitors to this world's largest clock have become Mingon, and even Mandalay's biggest attraction. The Mingong Big Bell has undoubtedly become the brightest "one star" in the ancient city of Mingon.
Sometimes the incompleteness is also a different kind of beauty. As the most classic millennium endless project of Mingong-Minggong Stupa, it is the famous monument of Mingong Dazhong. And it is a world clock that is still in use so far.
Minggong big clock, 8 meters high, 5 meters in diameter and weighs 90 tons. Originally planned to be placed on the Minggong Pagoda after the repair, but because the stupa was not completed, it had to be hung in the pavilion next to it. Later, an earthquake, the wooden beam of the wall clock was damaged, the big clock was intact. It was preserved, but it was quietly on the ground for decades.
Mingong Dazhong, once the largest clock in the world still in use, has a history of more than two hundred years. Although the world's first laurel has been replaced by the good luck bell of China's Henan Pingdingshan weighing 116 tons. Even today, even if it is rusty, it still fulfills the mission of the bell, and the bell-talker of the thick bells rings the good wishes of the bell.

"Mingong Big Bell" used to be the world's largest clock. The big clock is 8 meters high, the largest diameter is 5 meters, and it weighs 90.55 tons. It was originally intended to be placed in the Mingong Pagoda. The king saw that the pagoda could not be completed on time. The bell hangs in the pavilion. According to the locals, two large ships were activated when the big clock was transported. More than two hundred years of mottled years have added endless vicissitudes to Mingong Dazhong, which also carries the legendary story of the ancient city of Mingon.

This green town is surrounded by large farmland and woods. Next to the town, the beautiful golden stupa is located in the temple. The local villagers often drive a small boat and pass by the river. On the banks of the river, young people gather and play football. A harmonious and peaceful picture.
Griwa Bridge, quietly located above the river. The beautiful golden stupa stands on the top of the mountain and guards the entire city. The scenery of the Sangwon village is covered with clouds and the scenery is very charming.
