However, it CAN be done on a budget! 🚄 My trip started off by train from Nice-Ville station on the route that weaves in and out of the mountains (beautiful). 🎰 Descending the Monte Carlo district I quickly came across the world-famous Casino de Monte Carlo. Your budget day trip won't allow a visit inside, but stand outside and admire the supercars! ⛵ Take a walk along the harbour to spot the yachts. If you've a keen eye for the Grand Prix, you'll spot several clues outlining the map. Monaco is the second smallest country in the world after the Vatican. Today, it features modern skyscrapers, F1 racetracks, luxury yachts, villas, etc. The most not to be missed are the Oceanographic Museum founded by Prince Albert I of Monaco and the Saint Martin Flower Garden on the right. Albert I devoted much of his life to scientific projects such as oceanography and exploration, producing many oceanographic studies, including maps and charts, in his submarines in the company of some of the world's leading oceanographers. In 1896, during his marine research on the Azov Islands, he discovered the "Princess Alice Bank", an underwater mountain range with rich biological diversity. In particular, because the water is particularly clear, this ocean world can be seen from sea level. What tourists talk about most today may be the story of Rainier III and his wife Princess Grace. Grace was listed as one of the 25 greatest female stars in classic Hollywood films by the 13th American Film Institute. She married Rainier III in April 1956 and became the Princess of Monaco. Grace Kelly and Rainier III had three children. After marriage, she focused on raising her children and doing charity work for the United Nations. Unfortunately, she died of a stroke in a car accident on September 14, 1982. After Grace's death, the prince refused to remarry and established the Princess Grace Foundation that same year to support emerging American artists. Compared with its colorful modern history, Monaco is actually a pocket-sized country with a very long history, which can be traced back to the 6th century BC. The Greco-Walkers had established settlements here. Later, it was ruled by the Holy Roman Empire. In 1191, the Holy Roman Emperor Henry VI granted Monaco to the Genoese, and in 1215 Genoa re-established settlements here. A must-visit place, the Prince's Palace of Monaco, is the historical origin of the current rulers, the Grimaldi family in Monaco. On January 8, 1297, François Grimaldi, a member of the Genoese royal family and aristocrat, used a strategy to occupy the Prince's Palace of Monaco on January 8, 1297. Although he was expelled from the country by the Genoese army just four years later, he was the first person in the Grimaldi family to try to rule Monaco. In 1309, François Grimaldi's cousin, Rainier I, Lord of Cagnes, succeeded to the rule of Monaco, but the Grimaldi family and Genoa continued to fight for Monaco for a century. It was not until the late 14th century that the Republic of Genoa was defeated and Monaco was incorporated into the Kingdom of Aragon. In 1419, the Grimaldi family purchased Monaco from the Kingdom of Aragon and became the undisputed rulers of Monaco. In 1630, Prince Aureliano II of Monaco accepted French protection and became its vassal, but maintained the monarchy of a sovereign state until the French Revolution. In 1793, the revolutionary army occupied Monaco, and in 1814 it was occupied by the French army and restored to the rule of the Grimaldi family. From 1815 to 1860, it was under the protection of the Kingdom of Sardinia. During this period, Menton, France, which borders Italy today, and Logebrune-Cap-Martin between Menton and Monaco were incorporated into the Kingdom of Sardinia because they could not bear the heavy tax demands of the Grimaldi family. In the face of French opposition, they were eventually ceded to France by the Grimaldi family for 4.1 million francs. This part accounted for 95% of Monaco's land area at the time. After the signing of the Treaty of Turin in 1860, Monaco once again became a French protectorate. The Franco-Monegasque Treaty signed in 1861 recognizes Monaco's sovereignty to this day. In the center of Courchevel, the White 1921 offers a super friendly, well designed home for skiing holidays. The staff were fantastic in every way. In advance of us getting there they were able to sort out restaurant reservations, booked transfer from the Altiport and arrange a last minute transfer back to Geneva. The ski concierge service was truly fantastic - it made the whole ski in/ out experience even better. Friendly, accommodating, just brilliant. While Fontvieille Shopping Centre maintains some of the elegance you’d expect from a location such as Monaco, there’s plenty of more practical offerings here too. On the one hand, you’ll find the private collection of antique cars of H.S.H. Prince Rainier III. On the other, you’ll find lots of everyday shopping, there’s a large Carrefour supermarket here to buy groceries and everyday items at very reasonable prices. The McDonald’s on the 2nd floor offers some great views of the marina and its yachts, as well as the Prince's Palace of Monaco. Le Metropole Shopping Center is all about luxury living, which is obvious when you see its lavish furnishings of crystal chandeliers, Italian marble floors, and upscale brands. With 80 shops selling everything from gourmet food and beauty treatments to designer clothes and exclusive timepieces, you’ll find most of your shopping needs met under the highly ornate ceiling. A good spot to escape the summer heat and humidity, you’ll also find a handful of swanky restaurants inside. Great if you need refuelling while you shop. The views from the Monaco Palace and nighttime views are fantastic✨ ✔️I recommend combining it with Eze Village and Menton, near southern France, as a day trip. - The road up to the palace is hilly, but it's well-maintained and only takes about 10 minutes, so it's not too difficult😊 - The palace is the viewpoint itself📸 You can overlook the city surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea, and even see yachts moored along the coast🛥️ The views are beautiful both during the day and at night. - It's fun to wander through the colorful alleyways. I enjoyed walking the route of the F1 track, seeing iconic corners and many places where the red and white kerbs are visible. Monaco attracts many of Europe’s richest so it is also a prime spot to see supercars such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bentley and McLaren models

#europetrip Monaco is where luxury stops being an accent and becomes the main language. Superyachts line Port Hercule like floating mansions, polished daily and guarded like works of art. On the streets, Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and Bentleys are not events – they’re traffic. Designer boutiques fill entire blocks, and even a casual coffee feels staged against marble, glass, and sea views. This is a place built for visibility: terraces facing the harbor, hotel balconies overlooking the Grand Prix circuit, night lights reflecting off chrome and water. Freshly baked and filled with plenty of cheese, one bite of this warm bread was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend trying it at the winter market. 🍷 2. Fragrant mulled wine to warm you up A sweet and spicy glass of mulled wine (Vin Chaud) that warms your hands! Sipping mulled wine against the backdrop of Monaco's sparkling night view added a touch of romance to the trip. 🧸 3. Nostalgia-inducing adorable teddy bear displays The cute teddy bears displayed throughout the market catch your eye. Taking life shots with these charmingly arranged teddy bears makes time fly by.
