This dome is said to be the fourth largest cantilevered church dome in the world, following St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, Florence Cathedral, and the Pantheon in Rome. The entrance fee is 5 euros per person, and you can purchase it at the simple ticket booth on the right side of the entrance. Mosta Rotunda If you visit before evening, you can enter the church! (Please note that the opening hours change depending on the day of the week) During World War II, a bomb fell on this church and did not explode, saving many lives. This is why it is called the "Miracle of Mosta". When I went to the church, I was able to see a replica of the bomb. During World War II, the town of Mosta was prone to aerial bombardment. At about 16:40 on 9 April 1942, the Luftwaffe dropped three bombs on the church, one 50 kg (110 lb) high-explosive bomb pierced the dome and entered the church, where a congregation of more than 300 people was awaiting early evening Mass. The bomb did not explode. This event was interpreted as a miracle by the inhabitants.

Legend has it that Dingli Cliffs is the best spot to watch the sunset in Malta. I looked it up and it turns out to be the highest point in the Maltese Islands [Facepalm], with an elevation of about 250 meters. 📍 Dingli view requires a short walk, less than 5 minutes to the cliff edge, see pictures 1-7 📍 St. Mary Magdalene Chapel, a lonely little chapel on the cliff edge, with many benches facing the sea along the way, see pictures 8-9 The walking distance between the two spots is about 20-30 minutes, mostly flat with little elevation change. Starting from Valletta, you can also visit Mdina Fortress and Mosta Rotunda along the way. .

Excellent wet day option which you could combine with nearby Malta Aquarium . 2nd picture Valletta - Triton Fountain and The Big Wheel. Located close to Valletta bus station. Fairyland is now open until early January 2026. The lights should not be missed. 3rd picture Mosta Dome. Mosta. Visit the sight of The miracle of Mosta - a German bomb hit the church during a service attended by 300 people. Amazingly the bomb did not explode. €5 entry - do climb the stairs for a superb view of Mosta and the church itself.

#falladventures #familytravel This church is definitely worth a visit whether you are religious or not. The interior is stunning and the outside isn’t too shabby either, the dome is an absolute marvel being based on Rome’s Pantheon. We also visited the WW2 shelters outside which were interesting, there is a visitor centre and cafe but we didn’t have to time to pop in. There was a crane inside the church as some renovation is taking place but that added to the photo opportunities:).…this place is definitely recommended to visit when in Malta.

The original Mosta bridge was completed by the British army in the late 1800s to allow better access to Fort Mosta across Wied il-Għasel. The original bridge was built of iron and overtime suffered structural damage so was replaced by a stone bridge in the early 1980s. It’s one of the most striking churches in Malta, dating from the 17th century.
