Stari Most, also known as Mostar Bridge, is a rebuilt 16th-century Ottoman bridge in the city of Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina that crosses the river Neretva and connects the two parts of the city. On 9 November 1993 Stari Most collapsed due to shelling by the Croatian Defence Council during the Croat–Bosniak War. In 2017, the appeal court deemed that destruction was legal since the bridge was a military target as the opposing Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina used it as a military supply line. Subsequently, a project was set in motion to reconstruct it; the rebuilt bridge opened on 23 July 2004. We were lucky to do a day trip here on a beautiful sunny day from Dubrovnik, Croatia. We had a lovely stroll in the old town, crossing Stari Most, stopped for a delicious local lunch and had enough time to walk down to the river for the spectacular views and photos of the bridge.

Most people head to Mostar when visiting Bosnia for famous Old Bridge. It’s no wonder; this busy and beautiful city is undoubtedly a great spot to see during a holiday. On top of Old Bridge there is always spectators and local people who will, for a few euros, jump in majestic style into Neretva river. Scenic spot is surrounded by traditional architecture, local restaurants with amazing food and modern hotels and B&B. Walking between souvenir shops and galleries, visiting museum beneath the bridge to learn about its history are worth a visit. This is a genuinely busy tourist spot both day and night, and it’s somewhere that always feels crowded or bustling. The town itself is pretty regular in terms of everyday life. Nothing is particularly out of the ordinary when you arrive, but the authentic way of life is something to behold.

#2023travelwish My trip to Mostar, one of the city of Bosnia and Herzegovina is an unplanned day trip from Dubrovnik. Was told that the main attraction of Mostar, is the Stari Most – the Old Bridge. The Old Bridge was originally constructed during the Ottoman period.The Old Bridge replaced the wooden suspension bridge that had previously existed on site. Another Surprise sight is a statue of Bruce Lee which I come across while exploring.Also worth exploring is the bazaar on the either side of the street which I can try some local food . It was indeed as unforgettable trip . Day trip is definitely too short will hope I will be able to visit her for a free days next time

Used Trip.com to find a trip from 🇨🇿 to 🇧🇦 for less than €10! I flew into Tuzla, stayed in Sarajevo and took a day trip to Mostar (pictured). Although the public transportation was less documented in terms of timetables, I had no trouble at all getting around by bus and train. What a beautiful country of both people and landscape- I will certainly be returning!
