The Cape Chikumi Lighthouse was officially put into operation on April 1, 1920, and has a history of over 100 years. It is located on a cliff 130 meters above sea level, and the light can reach a range of 44 kilometers! Cape Earth is surrounded by the sea on three sides. I rang the Bell of Happiness near the Cape Chikyu Lighthouse in Muroran. Ringing the bell amidst the vast expanses of earth and sea is an indescribable feeling. I went to Tokachi Chuo Ohashi (Shiratori Ohashi), a 772.5m-long bridge that spans the Tokachi River, which flows along the border between Otofuke Town and Makubetsu Town in Hokkaido. It's known as a place where swans gather in winter, and the ropes stretched across the beautiful cable-stayed bridge resemble swan wings, which is why it's nicknamed the Shiratori Ohashi! There were lots of swans, and I was able to see a view that I don't usually get to see! There's also Tokachi Onsen right next to the bridge, so I'd like to go to the onsen next time! This is the best spot in Otaru with a spectacular view, located on the way to the resort hotel Neuschloss Otaru, which is in a great location. There is also a place that is directly accessible from the Otaru Aquarium, so if you are in the area, be sure to visit it as well. It seems that they don't come here much these days, but the reef, commonly known as "Todo Rock," is literally famous for the sea lions that come here at certain times of the year. The ride up to the mountain takes patience and can take almost an hour. The atmosphere is fantastic. Besides the fireworks display, there are also various performances and food stalls throughout the day. Tickets are available in various price ranges: I bought a full-day ticket, allowing me to enjoy the show from morning till night. Those with unlimited energy can enjoy the show, browse the market, and then enjoy a delicious meal in the afternoon. For those who just want to enjoy the fireworks and listen to the fireworks, tickets available after 5 PM are more affordable, perfect for office workers or those who prefer a more relaxed atmosphere. 🎆 Key Attractions/Activities 1. It's truly remarkable how Japan has developed tourism products that capitalize on the beautiful nightscapes of its industrial districts. Among them, Muroran's night cruise is a great option for enjoying the quiet nightscape of this industrial city without the crowds. For just over 50,000 won, you can board a luxurious yacht and pass by the Shirogane Bridge and various shipyards, cement factories, and smelters owned by leading companies, all while receiving detailed commentary. The highlight is the massive Tsugaru Ferry, which operates regular services between Aomori and Muroran. Since the tour ends late at night, it's best to take a taxi. Reservations are required in advance, and the tour will not depart until the minimum number of participants is five, so be sure to reserve a spot. If you have time before the night cruise, stop by Yurara Onsen to relax and refuel with a delicious meal at the on-site restaurant before departing.
