Breathing in the peaceful mountain air…
We had such a pleasant time in Nagarkot and the surrounding area on the outskirts of Kathmandu Valley… we absolutely loved the tranquility and calmness of this town and its people.
A lovely morning walk to the Buddha Peace Park, along village roads and amongst the friendly locals, not many better ways to start your day!
And try to wake up early enough to catch the sun rising over the Himalayan mountains - even if there’s a light cloud cover,#nagarkot #Nepal #Buddha it’s still extraordinary!
Tranquility in the outskirts of Kathmandu
A beautiful two-night stay in Nagarkot, waking up to a stunning view of the Himalayas.
Plenty of good hiking trails that can take you around the area, and provide many scenic viewpoints/vistas to the glorious mountain chain.
We’re staying at Hotel Village View and highly recommend for a cheap and good-value stay! The Panorama restaurant in town also has amazing food at great prices.
Also very straight forward & cheap getting from Thamel to Nagarkot - just take the local buses! An authentic and exciting way to travel around.

The crisp mountain air invigorates your senses, while the majesty of the landscape leaves an indelible imprint on your soul. Nagarkot, a gateway to unparalleled vistas and unforgettable adventures in the heart of Nepal.
Unforgettable encounter with the Himalayan majesty🇳🇵
Perched at 2,195 meters, Nagarkot unveils a breathtaking spectacle of the Himalayas, an awe-inspiring vista that seems to transcend earthly bounds. As the sun casts its first golden rays upon the majestic peaks, Mount Everest proudly stands among its companions, their snow-capped summits glistening in the morning light. From this vantage point, the grandeur of the Himalayan range in eastern Nepal unfolds, each peak a testament to nature's sublime beauty. Nagarkot, a haven for those seeking the serenity and splendor of the mountains, offers an unforgettable encounter with the Himalayan majesty.
The vibrant hues of spring blossoms🇳🇵🌸
#springblossom
Embarking on a day hike through the trails of Nagarkot unveils a treasure trove of delights for adventure enthusiasts. As the path meanders through verdant forests adorned with blooming flowers, each step becomes a journey of discovery and wonder. The air is filled with the sweet fragrance of spring blossoms, weaving a tapestry of colors against the lush greenery. Amidst the tranquil surroundings of this village nestled in central Nepal, the beauty of nature unfolds, offering a rejuvenating escape for those seeking solace and adventure in equal measure.
The boundless beauty of the natural world🇳🇵
#springblossom
Immersed in the tranquil embrace of Nagarkot, Nepal, the air tingled with anticipation as dawn painted the horizon in hues of gold. Nestled at the rim of the Kathmandu Valley, this village unveiled a breathtaking spectacle—the majestic Himalayas, including the revered Mount Everest, standing tall in the northeast. As the sun's first rays kissed the snow-capped peaks, nature's grandeur unfolded before my eyes, a sight both humbling and awe-inspiring. In this serene haven, every moment felt like a timeless reverie amidst the blossoming spring, a testament to the boundless beauty of the natural world.
Lying in bed here, watching the scenery
Nagarkot, located more than thirty kilometers from Kathmandu, was the last destination of our trip, and we were full of anticipation because it is known as the 'viewing platform of the Himalayas'. Despite the narrow mountain roads, our tour bus driver still managed to get us to the hotel safely with his superb driving skills. This place offers the widest and best view of the Himalayan range from the Kathmandu Valley, and if the weather is good, you can see the full panorama of the Himalayan snow-capped mountains. All the rooms in this hotel allow you to lie in bed and enjoy the view, so some friends simply didn't draw the curtains all night to avoid missing out on the beautiful scenery. Unfortunately, from the time we checked in until we left the next morning, the thick fog around us never lifted, and we had to leave with regrets. The hotel's buffet dinner was tasty, with colorful desserts, and the breakfast was also delicious. It would have been perfect if the weather had cooperated!

Because this is the place in the Kathmandu Valley where you can see the widest and best view of the Himalayas. Here you can see the panoramic view of the Himalayan snow mountains. The Himalayan snow mountains are like a jade belt hanging in the air. If the visibility is high, you can also see the world's highest peak - Mount Everest. From any place on the ridge where you can clearly see the opposite peak, you can easily take panoramic photos, from the westernmost Dhaulagiri, to Mount Everest, to the eastern Kanchenjunga, and in between there are Ganesh Himal (elevation 7406 meters), Langtang Lirung (elevation 7246 meters), Shisha Pangma (elevation 8012 meters), Dorje Lakpa (elevation 6975 meters) and Gauri Shankar (elevation 7146 meters) and other peaks.

Himalayan Viewing Platform~ Nagarkot
The capital of Nepal, Kathmandu, is located in a large valley, and the northeast of the valley rises to an altitude of over 2000 meters only twenty or thirty kilometers away, where Nagarkot is located. Known as the 'Himalayan Viewing Platform', on a clear day, you can see the full view of more than twenty snow peaks over 7000 meters.
In the early morning, the clouds and mist under the mountain are lingering, and the sea of clouds is tumbling. The rising sun dyes a row of snow peaks golden, and the night sky is full of stars, and the lights on the ground are brilliant, which is absolutely shocking!
There are three peaks over 8000 meters that can be seen in Nagarkot, from west to east they are Manaslu (8163 meters above sea level, No.8), Shisha Pangma (8012 meters above sea level, No.14), and Qomolangma (8848 meters above sea level, No.1)
Some of these peaks over 8000 meters only show one side, such as Shisha Pangma, and some only show a little tip, such as Qomolangma.

#2024wish
Nagarkot, nestled in the Himalayas, captivated me during a memorable two-month stay in 2020. The quaint village offered breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks and vibrant sunrises. Days were filled with exploring local culture, savoring authentic Nepali cuisine, and forging connections with warm-hearted locals. The tranquility of the surrounding nature became a soothing melody. As the sun dipped behind the mountains, the sky transformed into a canvas of hues. Each moment etched itself into my memory. Now, in 2023, those cherished memories linger, and the call of Nagarkot echoes in my thoughts. In 2024, I wish to go there again, to relive the serenity and rediscover the magic that made those two months unforgettable.

Nepal Kathmandu Central Zoo
Located in Kathmandu, Nepal, the Central Zoo was founded in 1932. It is the only zoo in Kathmandu and was originally a private zoo. In 1950, it became a government public zoo, but it was not open to the public during this period. In 1995, the Nepalese government handed it over to a local foundation, and it gradually opened to the public.
The trust fund aims to develop the Central Zoo into a center for relocated wildlife research and conservation education. The Central Zoo covers an area of about 6 hectares, providing shelter for 127 species of 942 mammals, birds, fish, and reptiles. It is also an entertainment center for visitors and a historical and cultural site for different groups of people.
Foreigner ticket: 1000 Nepalese rupees, equivalent to 55 yuan in RMB.
Opening hours: 9am to 5pm every day.
Personal suggestion: I still think it's a bit interesting, especially the gorillas and monkeys inside. It's better to start from the left after entering the park, so as not to take a detour haha. Kathmandu Bagmati.
so good to enjoy and for relaxation.
