[Around Hakodate Station/Hokkaido] Travelogue_2025/05
[Accommodation]
I stayed at OMO5 Hakodate by Hoshino Resorts, which opened on July 6, 2024 (room only). I stayed alone, but the twin room was spacious!!
The room had separate top and bottom indoor wear, so I was able to relax. There were also disposable slippers and a small bag that you can take to the bath.
Accommodation: OMO5 Hakodate by Hoshino Resorts
Room type: Superior twin room
Access: About 5 minutes walk from JR Hakodate Station
◾️Large bath "Amber-colored water"
Water quality: Sodium chloride strong salt spring pH 6.8
The large bath is a natural spring! There is also a sauna, steam sauna, and cold bath. The hot spring is a brownish color containing iron. It warmed me to the core of my body.
It is open until 1:00 AM, so you don't have to worry if you come back late. Towels are provided in front of the large bath, so you don't have to bring them from your room, which is helpful.
The drink after the bath is delicious corn tea.
On the way to the large bath, there is the OMO Base (post-bath lounge), where you can enjoy light meals in various rest areas.
◾️Lockers available 24 hours a day
There are lockers next to the entrance on the first floor, where you can leave your luggage before check-in or after check-out. They have a 4-digit combination lock system, and you can use S/M/L lockers for each size, so you can fit suitcases, handbags, etc. ◎
◾️Shared bicycles
There is a shared bicycle stand just outside the entrance, which was convenient when you wanted to get around quickly.
You may need to download/register for the HELLO CYCLING app separately when using the service.
◾️Smart laundry
I used the laundry on the 6th floor. There are 3 washing machines and 3 dryers, and you can wash your clothes without using detergent! The clothes came out beautifully.
In the same corner, there is a microwave, water server, ice maker, and vending machines. There is a drinking water bottle in the room, which you can use to use the water server.
There were only four hangers in the room, so it took some ingenuity to hang things that don't go in the dryer.
Although I wasn't able to use them this time, guests can also use the OMO Ranger guided tour and free bus for free, so I think you can enjoy Hakodate to the fullest.
[Nearby Information]
◾️Sushi Miyabi
This is a sushi restaurant in the Jiyū Ichiba that you should visit when you come to Hakodate. They also have nigiri sets, but I always order my favorites individually. This time I ordered a generous 19 pieces...! Everything was delicious, but I especially liked the raw herring, chun-chun, crab, and shima-ebi. I was also happy that the soup was free. It was a rich shrimp soup.
Maybe because it was Golden Week, I went to write my name around 7:15 and was the sixth group there. (The restaurant opens at 9:30)
I heard you can write your name from around 7:00.
There are five seats, and I was able to sit down around 11:15 (about the third round).
◾️Lamb Kichi
I recommend the salted lamb. The restaurant is not that big, so you'll need to make a reservation.
◾️Sakai Fresh Fish Shop
I bought three packs of black zoi, octopus legs, and hairy whiting. They were very delicious...! They bought soy sauce for me at the supermarket.
◾️Miyazaki Koiya
The carp sashimi (small) that I had been longing for was delicious. They said they would give me the sashimi for free, but cooking it is difficult this time, so I just had the sashimi.
◾️Soba Restaurant Maruminami
For lunch, I went to a nearby soba restaurant. It was very windy and chilly that day in the port town, so I chose the warm soba "Kakitama Soba". The thick soup went well with the ginger and egg, and it was delicious.
◾️Numa no Ie
I chose "Shoyu and Sesame". I especially like sesame. I ate it alternately and finished it in no time.
The dangos are not skewered to represent Lake Onuma and Lake Konuma, as they are meant to look like floating islands on the lake surface.
◾️ Yachigashira Onsen
The hot spring is a free-flowing spring, and is brownish in color due to the iron it contains. The indoor baths are divided into high temperature (43.5℃), medium temperature (42.0℃), and bubble bath (40℃), so you can bathe according to your preference and mood. There is also an open-air bath, sauna, and cold bath.
Please note that there are no towels, shampoo, or body soap provided.
It is a good idea to walk there from the bay area, and it is also close to the Yachigashira tram stop. I walked there and took the tram back.
The tempura bowl at the restaurant seems to be delicious, so next time I'll go with a large stomach.
◾️ Times Car Share
There are several Times Car Share stations nearby, so I used one to go to the Onuma area.
◾️Max Value (AEON)
There is a Max Value behind the hotel. It was very helpful for small purchases such as drinks and soy sauce.
◾️Cherry Blossoms
The cherry blossoms were in full bloom, and Hakodate Park, Shiryokaku, and Goryokaku were all beautiful.
◾️Asari Main Branch - I Want to Try Again
I called to make a lunch reservation about 2-3 weeks in advance, but they said they were fully booked. However, it seems that they also have a meat department, so I went there around lunchtime hoping to get some croquettes, and they were also sold out. . Apparently, on some days they sell out within 30 minutes of opening. Now I have another reason to come to Hakodate.
