Miyama Gassho Village (Kyoto Prefecture)
Different from Gassho Village in Shirakawa-go, Miyama Gassho Village in Kyoto Prefecture is a mini paradise but far away from the crowds. Miyama Gassho Village is located in a valley of more than 800 meters, about 1.5 hours from Kyoto and 2 hours from Osaka. After arriving in Miyama Town, I immediately felt that the air was fresh and the village had a unique Japanese rural simplicity. There are about 50 buildings in the entire village, including nearly 40 thatched houses. Different from the commercial feel of Shirakawa Township, the complete Japanese scenery is preserved here, and the entire trip can be completed in about one hour. Travelers who like to walk in the countryside may wish to take a walk here to experience a different feeling. #美川 #Gasho Village
Longyan Temple
Longwen Temple is a rare tourist attraction in the vicinity of Kyoto. At first sight, the sight of the maple leaf is immediately smothered, where the red and golden maple leaves intersect to create Beautiful and layered maple leaves, there are no tourists to disturb, only a few chasing maples.

Kayabuki No Sato, most stunning in kyoto
Miyama Kayabuki no Sato is an old village in Miyama, kyoto. The house is different from others, Kitayama Style Farmhouse, the roof is on top with kaya, so we called "kayabuki".
In front of the village, there are a lots of Soba, the flowers. In side the village, there is a post office box. In the opposite of the village, there is a river called "Yura river" that flow from the valley, which people like to go camping here in the summer.
This village still has people live here. There are only 2 houses that open to be homestay which is Matabe and Hisaya house. So if you want to sleep here, you might have to book about 6 months ahead. Some house is changed to be a cafe called Cafe Saika and Milan cafe.
Other than that, it has Kamakura Shrine on the top of the village. You can go there and make a wish and look the view of the village on top. And also, there is Chii Hachiman Shrine, people believe that god will blow the bad things and bring back the happiness. If you want to know more about this village , you can go to Kayabuki no Sato Folk Museum. The museum showed the historical information and the thing used in many many years ago.

Snow Lantern Festival in Kyoto
#familytrips2024
We made so many great memories in Kyoto, Japan. We went to Kayabuki no Sato for the Snow Lantern Festival. This place so magnificent. For those who wish to go to Shirakawago but want somewhere near Kansai, can opt for this Miyama Village instead. Only 2hours from Kyoto City.
There were so many activities such as lantern making, dancing, and also fireworks. This place is rich in activities that allow visitors to experience traditional culture!

Kyoto Miyama-cho is located in the center of Kyoto Prefecture and is the largest town in Kyoto Prefecture. It is also one of the largest three thatched cottages in Japan. There are more than 250 thatched houses built along the mountain in the town, but it is the most authentic Japanese countryside. The thatched cottages in Miyama-cho are very beautiful, patchy, quiet but not a calm. Most of the houses are used for ordinary residence, some are made into art galleries, and some are turned into folklore museums. It is very rewarding to go in and have a look. There is no public transportation in Miyama-cho, and you can only use the car for sightseeing. It takes only over an hour to drive from Osaka or Kyoto. The weather is cool in the summer, the scenery is beautiful and there are not many people. The one bed and breakfast in the village can accommodate 10-20 people. The decoration in the hotel is very authentic Japan. Feelings, and the accompanying small farms and the like, it feels great
