We visited a few attractions near Kotagiri but this one was spectacular!! We reached there at the time of sunset and there was view of mountains with and without shadow of other mountains. Sky colors were so beautiful and different. From this view, you could actually see a lake, a waterfall and far far mountains. Fortunately that day, there were no so many clouds and actually the view was clear. Based on the location of this viewpoint, I think sunrise would be more specular. But ya sunset has its own charm and the route to this point is beautiful in itself. It was so peaceful n green surrounded by kodanad tea estate. The Nilgiri Railway is one of India's UNESCO World Heritage mountain railways. Located in southern India, it runs through the mountains. The scenery is lush and green, with breathtaking views of tea plantations and majestic mountains. Along the way, you'll see settlements of people living in the mountainous regions. Seeing life in the Indian mountains is one of the attractions of this railway. There were more Indian tourists than foreigners. For us tourists, it felt less like a means of transportation and more like a way to enjoy the scenery. Most people were taking photos and videos, clearly enjoying the ride. Reservations are almost essential; you're lucky if you can get on on the day. I booked two months in advance, but some dates before and after were already booked, so it's best to plan and book early. More often than not, people board the Nilgiri Mountain Railway for the heritage experience and just to experience the thrill of riding a steep mountain route. Dolphin's Nose Viewpoint is a must visit tourist spot in Coonoor, The Nilgiris District. It is located 10 kms from Coonoor centre so makes it easy to travel if are staying in Coonoor.
