The Appeal of Nature and Scenery
The adjacent Kimimachizaka Pass has a very romantic history. It is said that in 1881, Emperor Meiji received a message from the Empress during his tour of the Tohoku region. The beautiful scenery at the time led to its name, "Kimimachizaka Pass." This spot, where nature and history intertwine, is truly worth seeing.
Spreading across the opposite bank is Mount Nanakura. This mountain range features seven peaks, many native Akita cedar trees, and offers a variety of seasonal scenery. It's also ideal for strolling and light hiking.
The Yoneshiro River flows through the area, and the river breeze and river scenery will soothe your travel fatigue. Seasonal canoeing experiences are also available, making it a great natural activity to incorporate into your itinerary.
