The scenic area charges a sanitation fee of 10 yuan per person. The parking lot is at an altitude of over 5,100 meters, and the ice surface is at about 5,200 meters. Road condition information: The round trip is about 400 kilometers, including highways, provincial roads, and country roads. The total driving time is about 7.5 hours. At the parking area, there was a small stall selling grilled sausages and instant noodles, but no other shops or convenience stores, including no toilets. At the entrance, there was a sign that said Qiongmugangga 7000 meters. 2️⃣ Follow the fenced path uphill; it starts with uphill steps and becomes flatter and easier as you go higher. Our goal was the sacred lake. We were almost the last group to go up. If you arrive early, after visiting the blue ice of the sacred lake, you can continue climbing higher for even more beautiful scenery. The distant deep mountains along the way, decorated with prayer flags or long paths, are very picturesque, along with mani stones and the moon, yaks, and snowfields—a very beautiful sight. We snapped a few shots on film. As southerners, it was our first time in over twenty years lying on thick ice; thanks to the sacred lake for welcoming me. But actually, just observing from a distance nearby is a more respectful way to enjoy it. 3️⃣ We didn’t expect the highlight of this trip to be on the way down. We were among the later groups descending. First, we took photos in the thick snow (see p11), then the sunset truly began. As we descended, the sun gradually set completely, and the entire sky continuously displayed different gradient colors.
