Okinawa Attraction: Ta-Taki Waterfalls
#waterfall #okinawa
1570-1 Tsuha, Ōgimi, Kunigami District, Okinawa 905-1318
The address is the parking lot. If you love hikes and you’re all about “the journey is more important than the destination” then this is a place for you. I think August is the best time to go and hike and swim because it’s not overwhelming humid. It’s bearable. Make sure to wear proper footwear because hiking with flip flops was the worst!!! 😂

[Okinawa] A renovated shop where you can find works by craftsmen active in the northern part of Ogimi Village
A shop renovated from a classroom in a closed elementary school in Ogimi Village
[Yamahara Craft Shop (inside the former Kijoka Elementary School)]
A small closed elementary school in Yanbaru.
Currently, the site of the school has been utilized and reborn as Kijoka Sho School, with various tenants operating it.
Yamahara Craft Shop is located inside the shop.
The shop mainly sells works by craftspeople active in the northern part of Okinawa Prefecture.
There are wonderful works such as Yachimun pottery and accessories that give you a sense of Okinawa.
There are some things that you can't easily find in Naha, so I think it's a shop worth visiting.
In addition, other classrooms also have tenants such as a cafe, a second-hand bookstore, and a sauna.
The craft shop was wonderful, but the reuse and operation of a closed elementary school is a fascinating spot.
If you go to the northern part of Okinawa as part of your sightseeing, be sure to stop by.

I had "Yamahara Tiramisu".
There are also souvenirs that can only be purchased here.

Ogimi Village Riverside Park
Ogimi Village is known for its longevity, but during cherry blossom season, it also becomes a charming hanami destination. The Riverside Park here is lined with cherry trees, creating a tunnel of pink along the quiet river. Walking through this peaceful setting felt like stepping into a hidden paradise, away from the busier tourist areas. The sound of the flowing water combined with the falling sakura petals made for a truly relaxing experience. I loved that the park was mostly visited by locals, giving it an authentic and unspoiled feel. There are also a few small traditional tea shops nearby where I enjoyed a warm cup of Okinawan sanpin-cha (jasmine tea) while admiring the view. If you’re looking for a quiet and intimate cherry blossom viewing spot, Ogimi Village Riverside Park is a perfect off-the-beaten-path destination.

Those who want to experience the natural side of Okinawa should not miss it. The nearby Hiji-Otaki and Kijoka-no-Nanatsuragi are also great places for hiking and viewing waterfalls.

Oyagawa Falls - Depressed Onions
#OkinawaAttractions
Oikawataki is a waterfall hidden in the lush mountain forest. Walk along the winding mountain road, surrounded by greenery and fresh air. Passing through the dense woods, suddenly the view suddenly opens up, and the magnificent sight of Oikawa and Taki comes into view. The waterfall pours down from a high place, with splashing water and a majestic sound.
The original forest landscape around the waterfall, with green trees surrounding the waterfall and hanging vines, makes you feel like you are in a paradise. I especially like to stand on the observation deck, feel the mist stirred up by the waterfall, and listen to the symphony of nature.
A clear pool is formed below the waterfall. The water is crystal clear and sparkles in the sun.
There are also several hiking trails around the waterfall nearby, suitable for exploring this green world in depth.
Monies
"I'm so impressed by the Okawataki Falls"
#Okinawa Attractions
Okinawa Falls is a breathtaking waterfall, its majestic spectacle unforgettable for every visitor.
Located in a valley, the waterfall plummets approximately 100 meters, cascading down the cliffs like a silvery curtain. The rushing water crashes against the rocks, sending up clouds of white mist that reflects in the sunlight like a captivating rainbow.
The entire waterfall area is surrounded by lush green mountains and clear waters, with clear streams winding through the area, creating a picturesque natural landscape. Walking along the trail, you can admire the waterfall's majestic power up close and feel the might of nature.
Standing in front of the waterfall, the thunderous roar adds to the awe-inspiring effect. Instantly, you're completely overwhelmed by the sheer force of nature, unable to resist admiring its uncanny craftsmanship.
Despite the large number of tourists, Shinkawa Falls still retains its original wild charm and has not lost its solemn and sacred charm. This charming natural landscape is sure to make every visitor admire it and linger.

SUNDAY'S KITCHEN A photogenic spot in Yanbaru!
As I was driving towards Yanbaru, I noticed a staff member waving a flag🏁 and decided to stop by. The outside and inside of the store were so cute!
I was so full that I could only order a kids' burger, but the other burgers and drinks are definitely delicious! lol Even though it was a kids' burger, it was very filling and delicious! 🍔
The staff were also very kind and we ended up having a great time talking to each other😅

Ta-taki Waterfall
#okinawatrip This is a really fun hike. We always bring our kids with us and it's refreshing to dip in the water after a 25 minute hike. The trail is covered by trees so it's not to hot but the rocks can hurt your soles.
Make sure you wear water shoes! We had 0 expectations, but it turned out to be great adventure. We were there on Thursday morning in late September, and we were there alone, but to my knowledge it gets pretty crowded. The only way to get there is walking through a river, so expect to get wet. You can rent wet shoes on the parking nearby, which is highly recommended if you don't have any as the rocks are sharp and slippery in places.

[Okinawa] A cozy old-style cafe newly opened in Ogimi
Located in Ogimi Village, northern Okinawa,
[Yanbaru Shioya Bay Magusukuya]
I went to this old-style cafe that opened in January 2024.
The interior is spacious, with everything from table seats to tatami seats.
It was a nostalgic cafe that had the warmth of being at grandma's house.
The menu is also extensive.
What I ordered this time was
"Singapore Chicken Rice"
Tender chicken on top of rice soaked in chicken broth.
Colorful side dishes and warm miso soup.
Just the taste of home! Everything was delicious and it was a very satisfying lunch.
They also serve Okinawa soba and Okinawa miso soup.
This time I visited during lunch time from 11:00,
but the business hours are from 8:00 in the morning.
The morning menu is available until 10:00 in the morning, and the cafe time menu changes from 15:00.
Please visit at a good time.

[Yanbaru World Heritage Tour]🦜
The Yanbaru tour I booked through JAL Pack starts from Okuma Private Beach & Resort and takes about 3 hours to go around Yanbaru Forest by car. You can choose between 9am and 1:30pm. I took the afternoon tour. There were only two of us, so we were guided in a large car and drove slowly through Yanbaru Forest, and we got off along the way to explain the plants and animals.☺️ It was a little rainy so I was worried, but they contacted me the day before to tell me what they would do if it rained, and they told me that we could go ahead and there are animals you can see more easily if it rains. On days when the weather looks bad, I recommend wearing clothes that you don't mind getting a little wet. A hoodie or something. Sneakers are good for your feet. But we didn't walk much and they even lent us an umbrella.
I didn't see any Okinawa rails, but it was a fascinating tour where I could learn about an ecosystem that is different from that of Honshu.

Ogimi Village Shikuwasa Park
A spot to stop by on the way to Yanbaru!
When you enter, you'll find a dream faucet!
When you turn it, you can taste the shikwasa juice that comes out.
In January, the shikwasa harvest is over and the factories that process the juice are not operating, but after listening to a video explaining about shikwasa, I was completely hooked on its nutritional value 🥹
I buy it and drink it every day.
IKKO is promoting it 😂
Early-picked (September) shikwasa is green, and although it is not as sweet, it is more nutritious. They sell early-picked shikwasa juice, as well as many other shikwasa souvenirs such as jam and ponzu sauce.
