Movie World in Oxenford is a total must-visit! 🎬🤩 Known as "Hollywood on the Gold Coast," this film-themed park is packed with epic rides, Insta-worthy moments, and seriously cool entertainment that’ll have everyone grinning from ear to ear. This theme park is a whole vibe — walking down Main Street feels like stepping onto a movie set! We went as a fam with older and younger kids, and everyone found their happy place. My older kid was OBSESSED with the DC Rivals HyperCoaster (tallest, fastest, and longest hypercoaster in the Southern Hemisphere 🚀). She literally rode it again and again, shouting with pure joy every single time! My younger one? Totally living her best life snapping pics with Looney Tunes, DC Super Heroes, and dancing along at the Star Parade. Since she didn't hit the height mark for the big rides yet, she went wild on the kiddie car rides and pretty much never stopped smiling. What's unique is... It automatically records where you parked, so you'll never lose your car 🤣 Parking at each theme park is free 🅿️🆓👍 ✨ Movie World ⬇️ Every roller coaster ride is a must-try! Especially the Joker's purple track—highly recommended! It's the most thrilling 😈 ✨ The Oz World (Wizard of Oz) area opened last year, With the recent movie 🎬 "Wicked," I feel the atmosphere here is even better than the themed events at Universal Studios Osaka ✨ You can enjoy nostalgic animations on the big screen while dining in the central plaza 👏 On Lunar New Year's Day 2026, the park even arranged dragon and lion dances 🧧 ✨ For purchases over 300 AUD within the park, the receipt will show the tax amount, which can be refunded upon departure 🧾💰 If you buy clothes or souvenir items, remember not to open the packaging and keep the receipt safe ✨ ✨ Paradise Country ⬇️ This place offers a service to hold a koala and buy a photo 🐨 (Australia now has very few zoos or farms where you can hold a koala) The show schedules are well-arranged, allowing you to move directly to the next venue after each performance 🪃🐑🐕🤠 One of the shows even provides cake and drinks 👍 There’s also a free park shuttle ✨ Saw kangaroos 🦘 and koalas 🐨 👀 The only downside was not seeing wombats... We only stayed for about 2 hours before leaving 😅 Otherwise, there’s also a paid horseback riding experience for kids 🐎 ✨ Sea World ⬇️ Features animal shows and educational talks ✨ Perfect for kids 👍 There are meet-and-greets with SpongeBob, Dora, and Paw Patrol ✨ Compared to Movie World, the rides here are more suitable for children (gentle rides like merry-go-rounds 🎠 and teacups ☕️) 😈 But there’s also the thrilling "Leviathan" ride, a roller coaster that’s even more exciting than those at Movie World 🎢 Highly recommended with a five-star rating 🌟 Among the three parks 🍹 my personal favorite is Warner Bros. Movie World ✨ The rides are thrilling, and the wait times are not too long (compared to Universal Studios Osaka, this is heaven 🤣). The DC Justice League theme is fantastic, and there are plenty of shops. Plus, my favorite fairy tale "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz"—the newly opened area has many scenes that faithfully recreate the story 👏 For accommodation, I chose a place near Movie World and Paradise Country ⬇️ ✨ Big4 Gold Coast Holiday Park ✨ Stayed for two days 👍 The hotel itself has two water play areas 👍 The water slide area had 4–5 staff members 🥰 They were very attentive and carefully ensured the safety of all children playing in the park 👍 The hotel park hosts different activities every week ✨ You can check their website for the schedule 👀 When I booked the hotel, the photos didn’t show it was a villa—I thought it was just a regular motel 🤣 So I was pleasantly surprised upon arrival ✨ It had a kitchen, sofa, TV, dishwasher, microwave, master bedroom & secondary bedroom—it was quite spacious 👍 The only downside was the lack of a hairdryer and universal adapters 🤭 But I usually bring my own anyway.

Typically, the park operates from 10am to 5pm, but during January peak season (for about two weeks), hours extend to 9:30am–6pm, which really helps to fit more in. There’s ample parking, but be prepared—it does get very crowded, especially during school holidays. Make sure you allow extra time for queues. Popular rides like Scooby-Doo and Wild Wild West took over an hour for us. A great tip is to download the Movie World app, which helps you check live queue times and plan your day better. One of the highlights is the daily parade at 4:30pm, which is great for both kids and adults. There are plenty of food options and souvenir shops, but keep in mind that everything inside is quite pricey—expected for a theme park. I have not returned to the theme parks since my younger days and now I am returning +2. Movie world is no longer fun and untimely, a lot of rides are closed and under maintenance. The scooby-doo coaster was pretty good back in those days and I was hoping it was still around. The boys managed to ride on their thrill rides , just the roller coaster and it filled their day. Many character meet-and-greets, and stunt shows were rather lame, but at their age, thought that’s what they would be targeting to? I guess the character experiences were not impressive . You will also have to load up with cash as food is limited and rather costly. The grounds, facilities are dated and old which I think it’s time for refurbishment. The boys like sea world, because it is marine focus , having shows, aquariums and opportunity to interact with animals. The dolphin show was probably the best? Nothing fantastic about the rides. I seen tons of reviews stating that SeaWorld is a hard pass, citing miserable animals have endured mistreatment for people entertainment. It is complex and controversial and it applies all over the world. Even so, the disappointment came from it being rather run-down. Paradise Country had their fair share of negative reviews but it appeared to be having more positive than negative, potentially for a great half day out but I guess the additional costs in pony rides etc and it’s limited attractions to be massive drawbacks for some. Similarly, it worked relatively well for the boys .
