I've visited Penang, Malaysia three times now. Previously, I spent my time exploring George Town, but this time I decided to head north to Batu Ferringhi. It was truly relaxing! Now I understand why my friends from Kuala Lumpur all rave about Penang! At 6:30 PM, I walked into BoraBora and was lucky enough to get a front-row seat. Around 7:15 PM, the sunset began, and the view was absolutely breathtaking. For nearly an hour, the orange hues of the sea and the evening glow blended beautifully, followed by a lively bonfire party. To sum it up: "The sea in Penang may be average, but the atmosphere is absolutely perfect!" Penang also offers plenty of attractions and local delicacies worth exploring, such as: 1. George Town: As a UNESCO World Heritage city, it boasts numerous historic buildings and street art. Every corner holds a delightful surprise waiting to be discovered. 2. Specialising in soup noodle, they offer noodles to pair with various kinds of fish like fried fish, grouper, barramundi, red snapper and different kinds of seafoods for such prawns squids clams. Besides the ample choices of ingredients, they also offer soup bases like bone broth, tomato soup, curry soup and more! The restaurant is huge and spacious, however the spacing between tables could be further apart! Plenty parking spots are available in the area, so there is one less problem to worry about! Food was served hot and pretty quickly! The ingredients used were fresh, love the dry noodles served with meatballs, fishballs and prawn balls. Very flavourful and chewy. Would revisit!

Come back to Penang to try a hotel on the other side of the mainland, this is the 3rd hotel reviewed for this year. I was moved to book because the main reason was the water park. And I looked at Agoda and it was crazy expensive at rm300+. There was a promotion on Shopee so I grabbed it (bought in October 2021) 🛖Grand Orient Hotel · hotel 3⭐️ · located in Kampung Jawa Perai, Penang · the hotel has only been operating for 5 years · checked in on 18/2/2022 · booked via Shopee for rm156 with breakfast and 4 water park tickets (if you book on Agoda or other platforms you can still get 4 water park tickets) · deposit of rm100, fast check-in process, friendly and excellent staff but they let you know if there are stains on the sheets and towels, deposit burn 😂(ink is like a 5-star hotel, even 5-star hotels don't make rules like this 😂). It's not the staff who are rude, it's the hotel rules who are rude. 🛖Room · type superior plus room, king bed · the room is really narrow, 17m2, but there is still room for prayer. · the bathroom is also small · cleanliness 5/10 (the toilet bowl is not very clean, the wallpaper is also very stained and some are torn) · the future wall is interesting, there are gorillas haha. On weekends, I'd be walking along Georgetown or exploring parts of Penang that I've never properly checked out yet. I just love my little island ❤️ Or cafe hopping! But frankly speaking, the economy isn't as good, so I've toned down on cafe hopping for a bit... RM18 for an iced latte almost every weekend really starts adding up fast! Until now, one of my favorite activity is to take the funicular train up, bring a book (👀 romance readers, hit me up with your favorite book!) to Penang Hill, order a cup of coffee and read away! It costs way less than a fancy cafe run, but the atmosphere is unbeatable. The cool breeze that gently caresses your face... and that wonderful cup of coffee looking out over the panoramic view of George Town and the Penang Bridge below. Just sets the tone right for a day of relaxation! Living here means having a misty mountain retreat just 30 minutes away from the tropical heat below. Tucked away at the southwestern tip of Penang Island, Kendi Island is one of those places that few people ever get to experience. With no internet signal, no crowds, and almost no modern distractions, stepping onto this remote island feels like disconnecting from the world altogether. Most visitors come here for fishing, but I had a different goal, to hike to the island's highest point, standing at 106 meters above sea level. Getting to Kendi Island requires a private boat charter, which typically costs around RM400 for a day trip when arranged directly with a local boatman. Boats usually depart from the jetty near the Penang Bridge in Batu Maung, with the journey taking only 20 to 30 minutes across the sea. Once you land on the island, a visible trail leads from the beach all the way to the summit. The hike itself isn't technically difficult, but don't expect famous viewpoints or iconic landmarks waiting at the top. Instead, Kendi Island offers something much rarer — a genuine sense of exploration. Along the way, you'll encounter several unusual plants, a scenic coastal viewpoint overlooking the open sea, and near the false summit, an old galvanized iron pipe standing quietly among the vegetation. At the highest point sits a mysterious large square-shaped stone structure, resembling a donation box, yet it is not a trigonometric survey marker. Interestingly, despite searching the summit area, no triangulation station could be found. And perhaps that's what makes Kendi Island so memorable. It isn't about reaching a famous landmark, it's about visiting a place that so few people have explored, where the journey itself becomes the highlight. 💡 Travel Tips · Charter a private boat directly with a local boat operator. This small river behind Auto City turned out to be a delightful trip. The initial stretch was enclosed by trees on both sides, making it easy to forget you were in the city. Our guide was fantastic, pointing out macaques, herons, storks, monitor lizards, unusual tree fruits, and demonstrating fishing techniques like net fishing, crab potting, and cockle collecting with a pole dragging a metal box along the riverbed. The boat captain slowed, turned, and stopped to enhance the experience. We traveled through a fishing village, briefly ventured into the channel between the mainland and Penang Island, and then headed back.

Why AkuaTAR is Heavily Underrated Virtually No Crowds: Because it sits away from the main tourist trail near the second Penang Bridge, you will often have the entire facility almost completely to yourself, making it a very serene escape.
