The overwhelming power of nature 🌿🌸🌊
Akaka Falls State Park
Big island in Hawaii is a breathtaking place, the scenery is stunning and you get an overwhelming sense of how powerful nature is. The Akaka falls state park is an amazing opporunity to see the scale and size of the water that flows through big Island, with huge waterfalls, rivers and rapids.
You are able to walk to a really tall waterfall and bask in it’s glory, you can stand very close and cover yourself in the spray to cool down from the Hawaiian heat. Then you can follow the flow of the water down the river, through the rapids and out into the ocean.
Along the way you are surrounded by lush greenery and all the nature that it contains, you will see plenty of beautiful flowers, fascinating animals and a lot of fresh fruit!
It made me feel so small and insignificant to see just how powerful all this water is, and to see how consistent it all is

#alohaspirit
Tucked away on the Big Island of Hawaii, Akaka Falls is a must-visit natural wonder that showcases the island’s stunning beauty. Plunging 442 feet into a lush, tropical gorge, Akaka Falls is a breathtaking sight to behold. The waterfall is part of Akaka Falls State Park, which offers a picturesque, easy-to-navigate trail that leads visitors through a vibrant rainforest to the falls.
The hike to the falls is short, about half a mile, but it’s filled with enchanting sights—towering trees, ferns, orchids, and other tropical plants line the path, creating a serene atmosphere. As you approach the falls, the sound of rushing water grows louder, building anticipation for the grand reveal. When you finally catch sight of Akaka Falls, you’ll be stunned by its sheer power and beauty as it cascades into the pool below, surrounded by verdant vegetation.
For the adventurous, there’s a second smaller waterfall, Kahuna Falls, located along the trail, which adds to the park’s allure. The surrounding landscape and the falls themselves make it a fantastic spot for photography, or simply to take a moment to enjoy Hawaii’s natural splendor. Akaka Falls is a true gem on the Big Island, offering a peaceful retreat into nature’s magnificence.
