Visting a Sikh Temple as a foreigner!
While traveling in northern India, I came across several well-known Sikh temples, also known as Gurudwaras.
In the beginning I was quite nervous to enter a Gurudwara because I'm a foreigner.
But most people I encountered were super friendly.
I went to the famous Golden Temple in Amritsar of course, but later I also visited another huge Gurudwara, called Anandpur Sahib, in the state of Punjab. This is more a local place (but very holy) and not many foreigners know about it.
The best thing about Gurudwaras are the free food, which they serve in special 'langar halls', to anybody, it doesn't matter where you're from or what your religion is. Mostly they serve chapati's (flat Indian breads) and dal, but if you're lucky they also serve rice sometimes. It's delicious.
So I recommend that if you're going to Northern India, don't forget to visit a Gurudwara. It's a unique experience!
