Good place for Photos at Alexandra SG
A good place for OOTD and pictures…
.
Situated on Alexandra Road, this preserved two-story Arts & Craft styled bungalow once served as the brewmaster's office. It was an integral part of Singapore's inaugural commercial brewery, the Archipelago Brewery Company, founded by German entrepreneurs in 1931, adjacent to the Malayan Railway for efficient beer export. In 1939, amidst World War II, the British colonial government seized the brewery. In 1941, Malayan Breweries Limited, a collaboration between Heineken and Fraser & Neave, acquired the brewery and Anchor Brewery. For several decades, the Dutch expatriates managed the brewery, gradually integrating local talent. The brewery, known for its excellent work environment, operated until 1990, when it moved to Tuas.
.
The Brewmaster bungalow, which is now partially occupied by Common Man Coffee Roasters and Yoga movement remains nostalgia and an attraction for photo-taking.

Danish-Swedish Smørrebrød at Overbrod SG
I've got to try some quintessential Smørrebrød with a friend at Overbrod. If you're a Danish-Swedish food lover, this is something for you.
.
Having never been to Denmark and Sweden and with limited chances to appreciate Danish-Swedish cuisine, I'm not well-acquainted with it (apart from eating IKEA's Swedish Meatballs). This could also serve as a great introduction for many others just like me. For people who aren't familiar, Smørrebrød represents a classic Scandinavian culinary tradition—a Danish and Norwegian open-faced sandwich on buttered rye bread, typically adorned with ingredients like cold cuts, meat, fish, cheese, spreads, and assorted toppings.
.
My friend and I both find the Mushroom Smørrebrød impressive. It's my top choice, followed closely by the Cured Salmon Smørrebrød, which ranks as my second favorite. Let me share that they've skillfully blended a fusion of Singaporean favourite Bakkwa into their Smørrebrød Mushrooms. These Mushrooms are topped with candied bacon that carries the distinctive bakkwa flavour.
.
You can spot it on the menu or better yet, give it a try in person.
.
OVERBRØD's mission is to offer a taste of Denmark to Singapore, showcasing freshly baked bread, savoury pastries, and signature sandwiches. Their passion for Danish cuisine, cultivated in Copenhagen, drives them to share this love in Singapore. They take pride in using high-quality local and Danish ingredients. The menu features classic Danish components like pickled herring, smoked salmon, and Danish cheese. The cozy atmosphere is designed for enjoying food and conversations with loved ones.

Welcoming Zen Ambiance for Coffee Lovers
If you are a coffee lover, step into Anagram Coffee for an immersive experience. They offer a diverse coffee selection in a welcoming ambiance. Notably, their focus on coffee, service, and design creates a unique atmosphere akin to a modern rustic farmhouse with comfortable, zen-like brightness.
.
Anagram Coffee rotates every few weeks, featuring global origins like Australia and Ethiopia, keeps each visit exciting, and intrigues the palate. Their unique oat milk option intrigued me, as I'm unsure of its prevalence. My friend Mcking, who is a coffee lover, shared his preference for regular milk over oat milk. He also noted that today's coffee had a pleasant fruity hint, although its origin remained a mystery.
.
They believes coffee is an immersive experience. They pride themselves on serving the freshest, expertly brewed coffee and catering to each coffee lover's unique preferences. Their inviting, community-oriented space fosters connections, while sustainability and ethical sourcing underscore their commitment to an unforgettable coffee experience. Come, savour a cup of coffee.

Minimalist Anagram Specialty Cafe
#sgfoodies
One of the highlights at Anagram is undoubtedly their cold brew coffee, deserving special recognition. It presents a refreshing and crisp flavor profile, making it an excellent choice for those seeking a cool and invigorating caffeine boost. The minimalist ambiance, combined with their exceptional cold brew, transforms the location into the perfect setting for savoring high-quality coffee and indulging in a sweet treat with friends.
The staff at Anagram not only possessed impressive skills but also exuded a warm and welcoming demeanor. Their willingness to share their expertise in the world of coffee greatly enhanced the overall experience. As someone who enjoys coffee but lacks an extensive knowledge of the subject, I entrusted the capable barista to make a selection for me.

Antique Peranakan Furniture Displays
#freehotelstay
Singapore is a melting pot of cultures, and this diversity is reflected not only in its people but also in its rich heritage. The Peranakan culture, a unique fusion of Chinese and Malay influences, has left an indelible mark on Singapore's history. One way this cultural legacy is celebrated and preserved is through the display of antique Peranakan furniture. These pieces are not just functional items but artifacts that tell the story of a bygone era. I had the opportunity to visit these exquisite furniture exhibitions at Anchorpoint Singapore without any cost. It was truly a delightful window-shopping experience.

OVERBRØD
#mysgmemories
it was great that a new stretch of cafes open up at Anchorpoint which gives us alternative places to gather.
pop into this new cafe, OVERBRØD, for the smell of the cinnamon knot attracted us. this pastry does not only smelled good, it tasted great as it has a firm texture but not squishy. the coffee both hot and cold was good too.
Though the shop space is small, we dont really restricted. the ambience is quiet for a chit chat gathering.

Set lunch at jack’s place
I visited jack’s place for lunch and to my surprise, the set lunch promotion is available during public holidays as well! I ordered the chicken Alfredo pasta and upgraded my soup to a mushroom soup. Drinks (ice lemon tea) and ice cream (dessert) were also included in the set. Super delicious meal and I enjoyed it. Also had another set of lobster bisque soup (upgraded the soup) and it came with pandan cake and tea and the mains was a grilled fish in Cajun tomato. Both mains were tasty and delicious and I enjoyed my meal here. Would be better if the lobster soup was served hot because it’s super flavorful but unfortunately it was a bit cold. Recommend coming for lunch! I visited the anchorpoint outlet, there’s many outlets available all around Singapore in fact!

Wine & Dessert at Former Brewmaster House SG
The Brewmaster building, which is now partially occupied by Common Man Coffee Roasters, introduces a unique pleasure - a corner dedicated to Wine. Here, we will have the wine appreciation from Drunken Farmer while having some relaxed conversations.
.
Drunken Farmer serves as a haven for natural wine enthusiasts in Singapore. They bridge the gap between international natural winemakers and Singaporean wine enthusiasts through various avenues: an online store, curated natural wines at Common Man Night Shift, natural wine workshops, and collaborative pop-up events.
.
What sets our wine-tasting experience apart is our unique pairing of each wine with a range of unique desserts, from Churros to Okinawa Black Sugar Tiramisu. Each dessert can be paired with a specific wine, though it's not mandatory. The Churros boasts a delightful contrast, crispy outside, and soft inside, complemented by either Caramel or chocolate sauce.
.
The Drunken Farmer offers natural wines, which may contain sediment, but this is entirely acceptable. The Alfresco concept and the expansive dining area combine to create a genuinely serene and relaxing atmosphere, making it an ideal tranquil setting.

A Taste of Scandinavia that's better than Ikea!
Nestled in a nondescript corner of Anchorpoint is Overbrød, a cosy cafe serving up scandinavian fare that packs a ton of flavour.
You won't go wrong with any of the Smørrebrød, but the sweet shrip and shooting star, that comes with a perfectly battered fillet of halibut are my personal favourites. Once it's on the table, take your time to identify all the different flavours with every bite and you'll appreciate the amount of time and effort it took constructing each of these.
There's also the deceptively filling meatballs - we're spoiled by ikea's fast-food-mass-production style, but these guys are packed with flavour and fill you up much more meaningfully than Ikea ever will.
oh, and if there's any space left, the hay smoked smashed potatoes are delightful.
It's a small operation and they prepare everything on the spot. Please find the time to expand your culinary horizons by paying them a visit, it's on the pricey side, but you won't be disappointed.
