Whispers of Wisdom: Pagoda and School
'Midst Angkor Thom's ancient walls so grand,
At Preah Se Ary Metrei, I stand,
Morning breeze a gentle kiss,
In this sacred haven of bliss.
Beside the pagoda, young minds ignite,
Laughter and learning, pure and bright,
Pupils' voices, a joyful song,
As knowledge weaves its tale along.
Nature's whispers, history's embrace,
A timeless dance, a tranquil space,
Pagoda and school, hand in hand,
A symphony of life, so grand.
In Preah Se Ary Metrei's embrace,
A moment frozen in time's embrace,
Morning's magic, hearts set free,
A soulful serenity, a symphony.

Bayon Angkor Thom, SiemReap, Cambodia 🇰🇭
One of the most ancient histories, plus many magnificent temples that still stand strong in the land of Siem Reap has extremely influenced Khmer people to respect and powerful inspiration for Khmer culture. Bayon Angkor Thom temple has many extraordinary sceneries and places that can help with enlighten your eyesights to see through the hard work of Khmer heroes in order to build each temple by bare hands without any machines except animals (such as elephants, horses, cows,...etc). Surrounding the Bayon Angkor Thom environment, there are a lot of temples for exploration which cannot be described by numbers.

South Gate
#bucketlistreboot
Angkor Thom is 3km by 3km in size with five gates ( North, South, West and 2 from the East ) and 8 metres high laterite wall that encloses the city with the moat around it.
Angkor Thom was the last and most enduring capital city of the Khmer empire, it was established in the late 12th century by King Jayavarman VII.
It is located around 2 kilometers 5 minutes drive from Angkor Wat and will reach the southern gate, with a bridge of statues of gods and demons carrying the body of seven headed Naga.This appears to be the reference to the myth, popular in Angkor, of the churning of the sea of milk.
Southern gate is the nicer gate out of the 5 gates that you are advised to visit.

Angkor Thom Temple
Angkor Thom Temple is one of the most important religious, archeological and historical temples in Siem Reap This landmark is far from the nearest city, you must arrange a private driver to get there. The recommended sightseeing time is between one to two hours. Angkor Thom is a last Capital City of the Khmer empire before moved it to Phnom Penh today I paid for a prearranged tour including driver and local guide because the temples are massive. Having someone who knows the history and the places helps to maximise the time in each temple. Bring comfortable walking shoes because you will be moving around/standing for long times. Also plenty of water is essential to hydrate constantly as this place feels extreme hot.

Phnom Penh.
The Angkor Wat complex, located about 310 km northwest of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, is the site of the ancient capital of the Khmer Empire. The main existing ruins include Angkor Wat (Angkor Thom) and Angkor Wat (Angkor Wat). The two main features of the Angkor Wat ruins are the stone construction and exquisite bas-relief art. The Angkor Wat ruins were built in 802 AD and took more than 400 years to complete. There are more than 600 buildings of various sizes, distributed in a jungle of about 45 square kilometers. During the 300-year period of large-scale construction of Angkor Wat, many changes in architectural art style can be seen. The religious content reflected has changed from the worship of Shiva and Vishnu in Hinduism to the worship of Guanyin Bodhisattva in Mahayana Buddhism.
Angkor Wat is one of the "Four Wonders of the East" along with the Great Wall of China, the Taj Mahal in India, and the Borobudur in Indonesia.

Witness the grandeur of the last capital of the Khmer Empire - the city of Angkor Thom
Cambodia's🇰🇭 Angkor Thom, also known as the Great Angkor, was the final capital of the Khmer Empire, founded in the 9th century AD. It was built by the third king of the Angkor dynasty. During the heyday of the Angkor dynasty, Angkor Thom was one of the most magnificent cities in Southeast Asia, resplendent and bustling. As the Angkor dynasty declined, Angkor Thom was repeatedly destroyed by war and eventually reduced to ruins, until it was rediscovered and excavated by French explorers in the 19th century.
Angkor Thom features the Bayon Temple, Baphuon Temple, the Ancient Royal Palace, the Terrace of the Elephants, the Terrace of the Leper King, the Phimeanakas Temple, the Preah Palilay Temple, and the Tower of the Twelve Zodiacs. The city has five gates, four leading to the gates of the Bayon Temple and one to the Victory Gate of the Royal Palace. Above the city gates are the faces of the Buddha facing the four cardinal directions. Particularly rare are the tropical trees with their tangled roots growing tenaciously in the crevices of the stones, tearing apart the buildings while supporting the temples. This sight arouses great curiosity, and many people stand under the trees to take photos as a memento.
Standing on the ruins of Angkor Thom, one can feel the splendor and vicissitudes of the Angkor civilization, witness the historical changes of Cambodia, and understand the profound historical and cultural connotations of Cambodia. In this land filled with magical and mystical colors, explore the caves, the wonders, the adventures, and the world, and behold this rare treasure that has been buried and forgotten.

1. Visiting Angkor Wat requires at least three days.

Serene Siem Reap: Gateway to Angkor
Siem Reap, Cambodia, is famously known as the gateway to the Angkor region, home to the ancient ruins of Angkor Wat and countless other temple complexes that date back to the Khmer Empire. While the temples remain the star attraction, Siem Reap itself offers a charming blend of historical intrigue and contemporary comfort, with vibrant markets, bustling nightlife, and a burgeoning art scene.
What to Expect
Visitors are drawn to Siem Reap primarily for Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world and a symbol of Cambodia's heart and soul. Exploring this vast archaeological park can take several days, with each temple offering unique carvings and architectural brilliance. Beyond Angkor Wat, the Angkor Thom complex and the enigmatic faces of Bayon Temple are must-sees, as well as the tree-entwined ruins of Ta Prohm, which have been popularized by film and literature.
Experiences and Recommendations
Rise early to catch a sunrise over Angkor Wat, a truly breathtaking sight as the silhouetted spires emerge from the night under a gradient sky. Consider hiring a knowledgeable local guide to gain deeper insight into the history and symbolism of the temples. In Siem Reap, stroll through the Old Market to pick up souvenirs and sample local dishes, or enjoy an evening at Pub Street, where the nightlife buzzes with activity.
Tips and Tricks
The best times to visit Siem Reap are during the cooler, dry months from November to February. Be prepared for hot, sunny days by wearing appropriate sun protection and staying hydrated. Comfortable walking shoes are essential, as exploring the temples involves a lot of walking, often on uneven surfaces. While U.S. dollars are widely accepted, carrying some Cambodian riel for smaller purchases is advisable.
Personal Reflections
Walking through the ancient corridors of Angkor Wat and witnessing the intricate craftsmanship firsthand was an awe-inspiring experience that transported me back in time. The serene smiles of the Bayon faces and the nature-reclaimed walls of Ta Prohm felt like living links to history, each stone telling a story of faith, ambition, and artistry.
Siem Reap serves not only as a base for temple exploration but also as a vibrant cultural hub that offers an authentic glimpse into the heart of Cambodia. Whether it's the historical marvels, the friendly locals, or the tranquil countryside, Siem Reap promises a memorable journey filled with discovery and enchantment.

Angkor Thom Temple 🇰🇭
#2024wish
My travel escapade led me to the mesmerizing Angkor Thom Temple, a true gem nestled within the picturesque Siem Reap Province. The temple's allure lies not only in its breathtaking views but also in its rich historical significance as one of Cambodia's ancient treasures. The sheer magnificence of the temple's intricate art and masterful construction left me spellbound, evoking a profound sense of wonder and admiration.
King Jayavarman VII constructed this fortified city in the late twelfth century, encompassing the residences of priests, officials, militaries, and administrative staffs. The city is guarded by a massive moat and entry towers adorned with 108 stone figures, representing demons and gods.
The ancient city, built by King Jayavarman VII, is protected by the watchful gaze of the old gods peering through the tree branches. Surrounding the city is a vast moat, while entry towers featuring 54 stone figures on each side stand as guardians. Within the city, significant landmarks like the Bayon temple, the Baphuon, the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, and the Terrace of Elephants can be found.
When considering a meaningful and memorable travel experience, Cambodia stands out as the ideal destination. In 2024, I eagerly anticipate returning to this remarkable place. #ancienttemples #mytravelhacks #historicallandmarks #localguides #familytrip #angkorthom

Ta Som Temple of Angkor Thom 🇰🇭
#2024wish
Recently, I embarked on a journey to explore the magnificent Ta Som Temple nestled in the heart of Siem Reap Province. This hidden gem boasts breathtaking views and stands as a testament to Cambodia's rich ancient history. The moment I laid my eyes on this awe-inspiring temple, a surge of excitement coursed through me, knowing that I was about to witness the remarkable artistry and architectural brilliance that it beholds.
Ta Som is a small temple that was constructed towards the end of the 12th century under the patronage of King Jayavarman VII. Positioned to the northeast of Angkor Thom and east of Neak Pean, this temple was dedicated by the king to his father, Dharanindravarman II (Paramanishkalapada), who reigned as the King of the Khmer Empire from 1150 to 1160. The temple itself comprises a solitary shrine situated on a single level, enclosed by laterite walls. Similar to its neighboring temples, Preah Khan and Ta Prohm, Ta Som has been left mostly unrestored, allowing for the growth of numerous trees and vegetation amidst its captivating ruins.
Cambodia is a destination that adds meaning and creates unforgettable memories for travelers. It is a place worth visiting to make your journey truly special. I plan to revisit this remarkable place in 2024. #ancienttemples #tasomtemple #mytravelhacks #localguides #familytrip

Cambodia | Complete guide to Angkor Wat Big Circle Tour
| Complete guide to Angkor Wat Big Circle Tour.
Scattered around Siem Reap city are the abandoned Angkor castles of the ancient dynasty, the largest and oldest religious building in the world, which exudes a sense of mystery that is rare in the world.
.
The Big Circle is a route that connects the temples that are relatively close to the outskirts of Siem Reap city. The distance between the attractions in the Big Circle is relatively far compared to the Small Circle, so it is recommended to charter a car to go.
Big Circle tour route: Angkor Wat sunrise—South Gate of Angkor Thom—Preah Khan—Neak Pean—Ta Som—East Mebon—Baphuon—Royal Bath—Ta Prohm—Krovan—Phnom Bakheng sunset
.
Angkor Thom has a total of 5 city gates, 4 of which lead to the Bayon Temple in the city center. On top of the city gates are four-faced Buddha statues facing four directions;
Preah Khan is the focus of the Big Circle route, with a grand scale. It is located close to the northeast of Angkor city. There are very long passages outside the four doors of Preah Khan. The straight passage leading to the east door is clean and unobstructed. On both sides are towering trees;
Ta Som, the architectural form of the temple is Bayon-style architecture, and there are also four-faced tower buildings in the temple. This is also one of the filming locations of 'Tomb Raider', worth a visit;
Baphuon is located about 1.5 kilometers south of East Mebon, it is also a pyramid-style building, but its scale is huge.
Ta Prohm's beauty lies in the integration of architecture and jungle. The tangled tropical trees grow into the stones, tearing apart the architecture while also supporting the temple, preventing it from completely collapsing. The temple is occupied by tree roots, and the branches penetrate the stone cracks;
Phnom Bakheng is a small hill located 1.5 kilometers northwest of Angkor Wat. Phnom Bakheng is 65 meters high but it is the only high point of Angkor Wat. Bakheng Temple is built on the top of the hill. From the top of Phnom Bakheng, you can overlook the panoramic view of Angkor Wat, which is also one of the best places to watch the sunset.
tips:
It takes about 20 minutes to climb Phnom Bakheng. Since the number of people going up the mountain is limited to 300 each time, it is recommended to go up the mountain before 4 o'clock, so as not to regret it. After 5 o'clock, no ticket is needed, and a large wave of people will rush to Phnom Bakheng to watch the sunset at that time.
